no amount of mathematical tinkering could save that fugly teapot, lol.
i tend to view aesthetics as a dynamic and recursively self-adjusting phenomenon. if a person is exposed to perfectly symmetrical golden-mean adjusted faces for a long time they will automatically grow tired of them and develop a taste for something different.
That's true, plus a lot of the times the lengths used to create the ratios are very subjective so even from a math POV there's really no one correct method. Plus that phi mask made the nose look way too thin.

i mean Yeah sure the end result of that video was more attractive, but it's not a rule. averaging features is merelY a safe means of getting an attractive face. but beautY is absolutelY in the eYe of the beholder. i for one have never been attracted to averaged out prettY faces. also because i'm reallY weird looking mYrself and mY ideas of beautY are going to be based off familY etc./

I think beauty usually needs a bit of a anomaly. You need a basis of symmetry and perfection and idealization but there needs to be a flaw, a sliver of a crack that draws the eye and the mind and merits intrigue. It's like watching a horde of supermodels and getting bored and then seeing the right one that pops out at you.
A sense of novelty is required to distinguish oneself and become noticed.
It is sort of a funny conundrum that most people don't realize. Beauty is the result of conflict. Throughout life, we go through phases, create meaning through conflict. Art is just that meaning put in a way in which its obvious to the artist. People who love the art see something inside of it that touches them internally.
Music, Tv, Film, Paints, Porn(lol), are all the results of one attempting to project a clear view into one's personal longing.

That explains why Sam loves conflicted straight males like me who really just want to pound their meat in him, but dare not do it because they are, like me, pussies.

hahaha. Yes, there is objective beauty, and subjective beauty. The trained eye recognizes both, the trained mind expresses them exactly, and the trained heart develops them.

I do think that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it should be recognized that because we are all human there are going to be common denominators that most if not everyone will prefer. I think the degree of difference in opinion of what is beautiful is probably propotionately the same as the difference between individuals. We all have differences, but ultimately we're all human.
If you are conflicted about being straight then you are not straight; just accept your bisexuality. I just had really good sex with a guy who has a baby from a previous straight relationship. That explains why Sam loves conflicted straight males like me who really just want to pound their meat in him, but dare not do it because they are, like me, pussies.

The problem Azeroffs is that these denominators have been known for a long time. I think a general issue of intolerance for theoretical completion is beginning to break out in psychology. There is only so much to learn about a person given a cultural setting, and then the mind looks for more. Some people are content to ask what can be done with finite knowledge... others keep looking, and create incoherent concepts. I think it's a weak Ti thing... you see, for all the few ideas that are correct, there are many more wrong ideas that can be explored. Strong Ti knows not to waste time with these, but weak Ti....
sacred geometry underscores peoples' sense of harmony, what a shocker! the reason it's "in the eye of the beholder" is because a person's physical geometry will always need to be reflected in another; 'beauty' is more or less this momentary sense of balance; hence why fat, ugly people marry each other, and why there are people everyone agrees are 'objectively' beautiful.

It's not like the mask this man created is perfect. None of that critique discredits Phi and its presence in art, it's directed at the mask. Phi works, you see it in stock patterns, pictures, music and a shitton else. People do overuse Phi though, because Phi is the basic ratio people cling to it but there are complex ratios. Beauty ends up having both objective & subjective parts.
There should be no strong preference for working from the whole vs the parts either.
