Default How does one learn socionics?

Really, how should one learn socionics...
I've found socionics some 3-4 years ago and I liked it BUT I never got around to having a functional use of the knowledge I have.
So... how does one go from flirting with socionics to a steady relationship?

    Feed the addiction.

BTW, it seems like more than anything else, socionics becomes a mental activity over an actual practical application (though a more productive one still than many other things you could be doing on a forum :/).

learn it as a complete system from the ground up, then see how it does or does not apply to real life to tweak your theory. use the forum as a place to test your understanding.

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

(I say start with the Jung, then learn the Model-A, then learn the Quadras, then try and get some experience with people///most important step!///, then forget what you learned from the first three steps by replacing it with your own observations.)

    Well... that's the problem... I feel I know nothing(besides some weblinks )
I've read a lot of socionics material but probably due to the lack of structure... most of the knowledge is either lost(forgotten) or inaccessible.
What I'm looking for is some kind of a road map... like in:
    1. Learn X... and then you will be able to understand Y
    2. Lean X2... you will be able to understand Y2 and apply it to Z1
    3. Learn X3...
    and so on...
Another way to look at what I want is this:
Consider socionics as a school exam... what would a socionics teacher would ask to asses the comprehension of the material?

    general stuff:
    http://socion.info/misc.html
    http://socion.info/
    http://www.socioniko.net/
    http://www.socionics.us/index.shtml

start here. note the relationships between the functions.
    http://socion.info/modela.html

read this next, puting it together with model A
    http://socion.info/miscmodelofthepsyche.html

then go here to understand the functions. http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...s%2fvyraz.html

start putting the functions together in model A, perhaps focusing on one type at a time.
    http://socion.info/cgi-bin/index.cgi?loc=desc&type=4

then move onto relationships between the types, keeping in mind all the stuff you learned before. you will start to see connections popping up. lytov has an article describing the functional analysis of intertype relations.
    http://www.socioniko.net/en/1.3.rels/index-rels.html

then go on and read some profiles and see what you think.

if i have missed something, i would be glad to hear about it.

What Mariano put together is good.

A kind of road map was put together by Rick:

    http://www.socionics.us/intro/start.shtml

For specifics on the profiles, relationships, behavior, etc, www.socionics.org is unsurpassed.

The type descriptions in the16types.info contain good representations of Model A for each type and table of relationships, but it's advisable to ignore the j/p shift story and the Oldham bits of the profiles.

Rick does a great job with his website... this is by far the site I like best.
I will try to look at socionics.org through babelfish but... I fear a lot of the meaning in the descritions will be lost.

    http://www.socioniko.net
is a great source of information, it has even a a Romanian section... but... it received some critic for the pictures they're using on the profiles.

What I would like to see on one of the socionics sites is full identifications, common people identified using both photos, i.e. using a support photo to explain how some of the visual clues are showing in that case, together with description of movement maybe, speech and other clues that lead the socionist to identify that person as belonging to a certain type.

Babelfish doesn't work anymore with socionics.org, try

    http://webtranslation.imtranslator.net

    Instead.

    1) I was flirting with socionics until I learned how to draw the A model from 2 first functions.

    2) The next step was learning how to logically find the first two functions from the type name. The functions don't need to be memorized, they can be derived from both 3-letter (LIE, EII, etc) and 4-letter names (INTj, ISFp, etc).

    3) I learned how to see the relations from the A model. (I made a thread about it in general discussion, "Relationship chart" or something like that).

If you are a visual thinker, you should find those things very useful. In the end, socionics will be easier - you'll meet someone, see clear signs of a certain PoLR, then you'll lock it in place. It will give you half of A model and leave you with 2 possible types for that person. You can test which one is the correct one. (find out more, compare with other people of those types).
You should try this method many times for each person you're typing. When I think I'm seeing a certain PoLR, it still might be something else... I wait for other signs of certain functions in certain positions.

I think it's important to learn to type people. It will give you a database of types with the body language, facial expressions and general attitude or mindset. This way you'll start seeing socionics in real life relationships. Beware - you will get addicted.

is a great source of information, it has even a a Romanian section... but... it received some critic for the pictures they're using on the profiles.
Unlike socionics.com, these types were typed not by their appearance. On the contrary, they were first consulted by E.Filatova who determined their types, and ONLY WHEN they agreed, she photographed them under standardized angles of aspect (in order to make photos comparable with each other). No matter whether visitors of the site agree with their types, these people DID agree
www.socioniko.net is no longer my site.

Well.. the photos are old... and the critic I was referring to is from Sergei Ganin so... he is not some random wannabe like myself...
I do believe that some more explanation could be done on the photos... like maybe what does the photo revealed to the examiner...

Photos... I could never explain VI. I look at the eyes, which reveal a lot. Is this person relaxed-looking, intense, brightly happy, dry, etc. What do the clothes look like: neat, casual, bright, dorky, worn out, etc. The hair, make up, posture... There are no easy tips.

    Default Question

Does anyone know more about the photos?
I used to think I could try to learn VI by using the photos on www.socioniko.net and http://ru.laser.ru/socion/references/filatova but now I have come to believe that at least some of the people may be mistyped - or then VI just is not a reliable method of typing in the first place. It could be....
