I've read his most famous book, "The Theory of the Leisure Class". His themes strike me as slightly "resolute" as in Se/Ni quadra - he is ridiculing a Se and Fe approach to human relationships, which he deems as tribal. My impression is that he's ILI, rather than SLI.

I still have to read that book, but ILI could certainly be an option.

He's in Project Gutenberg. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/833/833-h/833-h.htm I liked what Wikipedia says about his book but I won't have time to look much into it today. So I can't say what I think his type is.

Veblen is one of the early Technocrats, I've (partly) read his book "The engineers and the price system". It's interesting, but I found it pretty hard to read and understand. I think it still helped me to form my own opinion on this subject. I've no idea what his type could be, though.

Just for the record, I didn't like his book and his theories. They reflected the attitude towards life of a profundly cynic and misanthropic person, IMHO. There's nothing wrong with being cynic, but you need to know your own bias when you're trying to build a realistic model of the world.

When I read Conspicuous Consumption the writer's NT-ness was apparent though for what it's worth I thought he was possibly LII. Te-ILI is another plausible typing.

I agree, his attitude sounds much like the attitude of the Protestant Ethic Max Weber wrote about: all work and no fun.
