Default how to differentiate between an S and N?

Hi, I'm new to socionics. In terms of V.I., how do I differentiate between an S and an N? I'm not that adept with V.I. yet, except for more obvious ones like isfp, estp and estj. Hope u dun mind this basic question.

It's not that easy to explain, but on the other hand it's EXTREMELY easy to notice.

On average intuiters seem more spaced-out and detached from the situation. Their eyes are often unfocused and seem to be looking through the observer. On average sensers seem more involved in the situation (except perhaps for certain SLI's and SEI's) and have a calmer gaze with eyes usually focused on the observer.

That's about it. If you split up types not into two groups using the four dichotomies, but by their leading functions (8), there are additional differences.
