Default U.S. Invasion of Libya Set for October

"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
    --Theodore Roosevelt

Oh please. Obama doesn't invade until his teleprompter tells him to invade.

I heard about the rapes and the man is clearly a criminal who scorns both justice and human decency. Still, I don't see why U.S. lives must be lost to end this.

Or why my tax dollars should go towards it.

I'm betting Obama gets censured before it's over. Probably in 2015.

But yeah it's looking more and more that Gadhaffi is not just a sociopath... he's a psychopath with delusionary tendencies. He has, probably, less value for human life than Saddam Hussein did.

I'm all for giving the rebels weapons, but we should stay out of this.

That said, it's very likely Gadhaffi will leave in the next two weeks. I'm sure he's already aware of the rape video on CNN, and he doubtless knows what it means for him and his regime.

They've been saying that every two weeks for the past few months.

The rebels need to somehow liberate Az-Zawiyah (slightly west of the capital Tripoli) and capture or destroy his main oil refinery on the road between the two cities. He can't import (as far as we know) because of the sanctions and NATO blockade, and without oil he's virtually immobile. That'll probably signal his defeat sooner or later.

He doesn't need oil to keep going. He can rule with pure Fe alone. Roving gangs with guns... enough of them are all he needs to maintain control of the cities. After all most of his armor is already destroyed. He's now fighting with guns, RPGs, and some (very ineffective) artillery.

I think it's time for Egypt to show it's the local 800 lbs. gorilla and take of business. It's not the U.S.' place to remove Gadhaffi.

There is a remote chance his Amazons will turn on him. However, probably not until the situation deteriorates a little bit more. I'm fully expecting him to end up the Hague though, and not dead by assassination. Plus he doesn't have the guts to do himself in.

He styles himself a socialist strongman, but he's really just a pathetic loser with zero sense of human decency. After these rape revelations, I fully expect Chavez and even Castro to abandon him. Dictators yes but... they are still men of honor who respect human decency. We all feel the pain of that poor woman... I hope she's still alive.

Lol shits annoying is all I know... I loathe the foreign policy of America. I think its nice and all America wants to save the world, but we need to get a reality check imo.

I think the majority of the population resists accepting the fact we could actually be making things worse than better because its feels a lot better to believe we are heroically saving the world by overthrowing dictators (our specialty since 1945, even though the Red Army was responsible for toppling Berlin). Anyways I'm highly skeptical of this, from 1945 to present there a little indications that US military invention has been directly responsible for an increase in the quality of life for people globally. In fact I would love to write a book on it, but no one would really even give a shit unless I had pictures of tits.

Also the Red Army didn't defeat ****** in some glorious noble valiant charge like in some fantasy film or agrandized war film... the Red Army was known to rape German women as it made its way through the Germany. In Stalingrad, officers would shoot anyone who ran back during a charge. The Red Army was brutal, visceral, violent, and direct. Germany couldn't withstand an incursion into Russia. The Russians out endured the Germans, the Germans thinned and weakened, the Americas put pressure on their left, and the Red Army was able to counter and push in from the East all the way into Berlin. ****** killed himself as the Russians descended on Berlin, not the Americans.

I only mention that because tons of people like to envision the US as noble liberators from ****** iron grasp. I tend to think the Russians played a huge role in the war, and the character of that conflict was far from noble... it was a tough visceral gritty blood fued, stalin vs ******... fighting non stop over Stalingrad as a matter of pride and dominance, thousands of people dying, rape, murder, etc.... WWII wasn't won by brave noble american virtues... it was won by the russians repeatedly pounding the germans until their supply lines ran thin, attrition set in, and they were weak.

Can't tell what they've got planned... but Gadhaffi is looking really good right now. TIME put out an article describing how he wins unless something drastic happens in the next month or so. But yeah those airstrikes are not having any effect anymore except killing civilians. Gadhaffi scrapped his armor and is holding on to his power through sheer force of numbers.

The difference is Saddam didn't flinch when it came to dealing with rebels. Ghaddafi got up and gave a pathetic speech pleading for rebels to stand down because of some law he pulled out of his ass.

Right, but no matter what the U.S. would have eventually defeated the Germans for sake of sheer momentum.
