Assuming what they are saying is true, it is interesting to note how they didn't feel any sexual or instinctual attraction in the beginning. I am assuming that they simply did not experience any strong Imago attraction with each other. But over time, they realized they fit together well, and that helped spark the romance; especially realizing that their Romance styles were actually compatible (2:01).

The way they describe feeling entirely comfortable with each other – that is a typical sign of Duality. Also, Tony's statement around the end is rather characteristic of Duality: not feeling like having to change or act like someone you aren't (3:20).

I'm starting to get the impression that besides Imago related attraction patterns, some LIEs like you and Tony won't be as attracted to the sexual style of an ESI at first glance or at a superficial level, because they rarely come across as "Aggressor-enough". LSIs are a bit more Aggressor than ESIs. I tend to say that ESIs are "Pseudo-Victims". Some of them can even come across as Caretakers sometimes.

The sexuality of the few ESI's whom I have known (platonically) is like a black hole. I send a signal into the darkness and nothing comes back. If I get too close, then I get bounced out or destroyed.

I think that "closing" has to be their idea, quite frankly. I might make it clear to them that I'm all for it, but then they will stand back and try to decide if that is a good idea or not, and they will take a very long time to decide in cases like this.

If closing is initially their idea, then I think they just go for it without too much deliberation. They make it clear that they are interested, but if there is no immediate response forthcoming, they shut down forever on that avenue and move on.

This is all hypothetical, of course, because I have very little experience with ESI's sexuality. But this is my impression from having made close approaches, observing the results, and asking myself how a person would have to think in order to act the way they do.
