Default Would you vote for Donald Trump?

Only vote in this thread if you're an American. If you're a European socialist swine your vote will be subtracted.

Donald Trump is super charismatic, he may be the next President of the United States.

    BTW, he's Ti-ESTp (N).

Definitely no, all politicians are corrupt. I wouldn't vote for any of them, cause they all suck.

    you think he's charismatic?

I think he has absolutely no diplomacy skills whatsoever. Since he announced his plan to run for president, he's already had his foot in his mouth several times now and the campaign hasn't even really started.

I also think he would be a poor choice as far as looking out for the majority of Americans. He's obviously going to be looking out for the interests of corporate America ahead of issues affecting the general public.

Trump seems like an opportunistic bullshitter to me. It will take a lot to convince me that he's actually a conservative.

That said, if he manages to establish himself as a genuine conservative candidate, I'd have no problem voting for him. I like his hardliner SLE personality.

I like what he's saying about China, taking the oil in Iraq, and finding a way to deal with Opec. Not sure how he would actually deal with Opec but he seems to think it's possible us being their number 1 customer. His achilles heel will be propaganda / smear campaigns in the news media, & creating a new media image. Also he seems not to check what he says, but that's what I like about him. Some people find that offensive but they're full of shit, like workaholicsanon. Workaholicsanon is an uneducated, PC bitch, has nothing to contribute to a serious political discussion and in an ideal social system he/she would not be allowed to vote.

Let's say that's true. You can still choose the lesser of the two evils. But that would require you to get off your couch, wouldn't it pothead?

hah, same. the fact that Beta STs are able to be so confident like that about their convictions gets my attention, and often makes me like them for their personality even if i totally disagree with them. there's just a positive resonance there.

i know an SLE who's big on the military with an "AMERICA FUCK YEAH" mentality - which is shit that i usually find annoying and a turn-off, but with him it doesn't end up bothering me that much.

What workaholicsanon meant to say is that trump would put the interests of corporate America above the welfare of Americans writ large. Bending to the whims of corporate America is not always good for the US economy, much less average US citizens.

Trump certainly would put the interests of corporate America first, but so would Obama and all the other candidates. Corporate America is funding all the major players' campaigns and employing all the lobbyists, whereas the citizenry's capacity for, and interest in, collective political action have grown increasingly tenuous (don't anybody dare cite the tea party as counter evidence; the tea party is a joke).

If Trump were elected president and proceeded to stand strong for his sense of what's good for the country, I would admire the man. All the same, I doubt he would, I doubt he'd get anywhere if he did, and his sense of what's good for the country is probably crap to begin with.

the grasp of the corporate world on the US economy tends to get overstated. even for all the lobbying they engage in, corporations don't even succeed at something as trivial as lowering the top corporate tax rate:

I can't stand Trumps personality... Idk if I'd vote for him though, since I'd have to know more about how he plans to do things as president. If it's based solely on me liking his image, then hell no.

Corporate tax rates have painfully little to do with the gross power of corporations relative to citizens. Lower corporate tax rates and the savings ultimately get passed down to the consumers in a competitive economy. Taxation of corporations is ultimately taxation of consumers by proxy. It's neither inherently pro nor anti-corporate interest. High corporate tax rates have a lot more to do with overspending and voter stupidity than with the strength of the corporate strangle-hold on American politics.

You think that bashing someone you consider lower than you and an uneducated bitch to somehow make you look smarter? It doesn't. People who don't check what they say and are proud of it are socially retarded, I don't get why people glorify that.

lol I completely forgot that Obama was the other choice. Well then, yeah if I did hypothetically want to get off my couch to vote I'd probably choose Trump. But either way, it'll be more of the same.

Sometimes the filter that society tries to impose upon us can blunt our own ability to express our most genuine selves. That's not necessarily a good thing.

What's killing us is shitty leadership, not corporate america. Bad government policies have fucked up the economy. Everyone looks at the problem at face value and blames the corporations. That's a teenage mentality, but sadly that's about as far as the typical person is willing to look.

No, I think it might motivate them to learn what they're talking about. Even if they only learn enough to defend their shitty, wrong opinion.

If being your true self includes being wrong, and also spreading this wrong opinion to others, then you should be filtered.

right but i'm pretty sure that if there's a choice between benefitting big business vs the general public, he'll choose big business.

my two cents. I dont claim to be an expert on politics. I am a lot more educated though than crazedrat would like to believe. A lot more educated than him i would bet.

I didn't realize this discussion was only open to politicians and historians and emo whiners like him

Oh thanks, Timmy ! If i saw your post earlier i wouldn't have made my explanation a couple posts above. Thanks for understanding me!

And my sense of Trump is very similar to yours. I'm just thinking he's unlikely to make it through the primaries in the first place, but we'll see. I guess it'll depend on who else is running. He is certainly not the exceptional diplomat Obama is (and i'm not a huge Obama supporter either, I'm just stating observations).

I don't want to seem like a fanboy, but I was wondering if you could actually phrase that in terms of maybe some reasons why you think this.

The only reason I ask is its incredibly common to hear these sentiments echoed by people towards any president that has remained in office long enough, especially people who lean towards the opposing party more strongly. The same was true for George W Bush... "ANYONE BUT BUSH", etc.

Its exceedingly rare to find someone actually give any reasons.

Reasons imply some thought, that you aren't just an upset person venting anger without any real solutions or perspective. Reasons show what the problems are and what some potential solutions are and therefore have a certain value in the political process in my opinion, contrary to some of the less intelligent and aggressive anti-obamnites.
