Depends on the individual. None of the types themselves are particularly difficult to figure out I guess, but if an individual is shifty or otherwise not straightforward with themselves then it's gonna be difficult to figure them out.

SLIs by far. Fine on the surface at first. But try to move in any closer and it's nothing but misunderstandings left and right.

Everyone is confusing. Especially the ones who become upset about things. I don't get it. What did I do?

Also I find it hardest to figure out people's types until I kinda figure out and understand them, so I'm kinda stuck with the question.

ILEs, EIEs, and ESEs. LIIs can be hard to figure out too but those 3 are the worst.

In general I agree with @Galen. It isn't a type but an individual. Most people are not that hard to figure out if you are open to them and pay attention to whether or not their actions match what they project as a public image and speak about.. My biggest mystery/puzzle has been figuring me and noticing how these other people reflect aspects of me and how I can use that to better understand what makes my head whirl. This sounded better in my head.

“My typology is . . . not in any sense to stick labels on people at first sight. It is not a physiognomy and not an anthropological system, but a critical psychology dealing with the organization and delimitation of psychic processes that can be shown to be typical.” —C.G. Jung

In general I dislike to dislike any person that has good intentions but is not "compatible" to my psyche. All types can come off as enigmatic (to me at least) regardless of their type, even though types valuing Ti and/or Ne are easier to understand.

Also, isn't part of the allure of duality the contrast between the types? I could (initially) be attracted to an ESE and a SEE, both types that are very different from a LII, but different quadra values will lead to a hypothetical misunderstood relationship with the SEE, while similar values for the ESE will lead to a theoretical relationship of complete understanding.

there is contrast, but isn't there good amount of understanding of where the other is coming from second only to identity relations? i don't think a dual is that puzzling or mysterious.

There is great understanding between duals, that's what I said. It just has to develop into that, or else both parties will kind of gloss over each other. I don't think duals are usually puzzling or mysterious, sorry for implying that.

i must have misread, sorry, but I thought you made a great point about the contrast of leading functions and how that could make SEE seem interesting to the LII

For some reason, ESI especially - apparently my mom is one but I still find them very odd, hard to relate to. I don't think I've really met another younger ESI my age. I would probably feel intimidated.. And along with that, LIE - really haven't met one. Just how that dual pair think and behave is bewildering to me.
