Sure as hell I'm not hypocondriac, actually, I play down every possible disease I have because I loathe staying down in bed etc etc so when I have something I usually ignore it altogheter.

I never stay in bed. Last time I was sick Peter kept telling me that I needed to go to bed, but I wouldn't. And I've worked through all kinds of illnesses... mono... whooping cough... strep...

because I'm tend to worry that I have some ridiculous disorder/disease... and do a lot of research online and get all paranoid about it until I go to the doctor who tells me not to read stuff about health issues anymore

I've also always had this habit of thinking I'm pregnant, when in reality I've only been pregnant twice

I didn't know I had mono until after I was almost healed. I don't know when I had strep, just that I've had it sometime since I started working. I suppose I could have taken off when I had strep, since I don't know when it was. I generally only call in sick if I don't want to work, not if I'm actually sick. I stopped working once I knew I had whooping cough, but I worked for a couple weeks before I knew. I was out of work for a month, and then when I came back, I told a few people that I had whooping cough, and I got called into human resources. They told me not to tell anyone that or I'd get written up. I had the health department handle the matter.

My sister is an INFj and is a terrible hypocondriac. Plus she's a nurse so she's a well educated hypocondriac. It's a scary combination.

In my home, I could stay home from school only if I had fever (over 37.0). I still kinda live by the same rule. I'm sick when I have fever. I ignore my health until a week has passed and I still feel ill, even though I have no fever. Then I get really paranoid, because I have no idea what's wrong with me.

Once I had excluded all the normal possibilities and I was feeling worse and worse (in pain, popping maximum dosage of pain killers). Finally I told the doctors they had been wrong the first time and I bullied them to find out what's wrong with me. They found out, I had massive surgery the next day . After that, I think I have lung cancer if I've been having a cold for too long.

my fevers don't seem to correspond to illness. I was VERY sick with whooping cough for at least a week before I got sick, and when I am sick, my fevers don't often go above 100 F. sometimes my temp will be 100 even if I'm not sick.

I get sick and never run temps a lot. Im highly prone to sinus/lung/ear infections. Unless they go on for too long, I will not run a temperature.

One is an actual condition. The other is boredom, intelectual arrogance, ______ , _________, __________ (enter any other lame reason here for being dumb enough to self-diagnose with lack of sufficient practice and NON-INTERNET information).

I frequently think things mean I have cancer or something, and then I think that thinking about these things too much could draw them into being.

Yeah I've seen all kinds of sociotypes being hypochondriacs, and the only real commonality was a phobic 6 fix.

Being Si valuing makes it worse, but I know of some SEEs even who can be hypochondriacs sometimes.

I have phases of being super paranoid about my health and ignoring it altogether. Currently I'm in an ignoring phase and have been for a couple of years. They are long phases.

I think the idea is the role function can tend to "show off"-- like balzac being into washing hands and stuff, this could be interpreted as a form of hypochondria, but true hypochondria is kind of rare so.. also Fe egos probably communicate Si concerns more so hamlet/yesenin might come across that way. in the end it may not be real but may just be the impression they create as leaning that way, or maybe people read into those things too much, thinking there may be more going on not less. in the end hypochondria is a disorder so associating it with any type is a lot like calling weak Ti more likely to be retarded or stupid or something--probably not strictly speaking justified or necessarily connected.. at the same time there can be these patterned impressions that emerge

The thing is hypochondriacs per definition care about si ( their body having a disease or not) so by definition it must be valued

ESIs seem to be prone to psychosomatic illnesses when they have no means to vent; they often make mountains out of molehills and sometimes self-medicate, which creates real health issues. However, SLIs can be more incapacitated than ESIs by actual ailments that are of a minor nature. SLIs seem to think the worst, but oddly, they can endure tremendous physical hardship when they think that they're firing on all cylinders.

thats only if you identify care with "valued" in the typological sense, I can think of things I associate with non valued functions I nevertheless care about. i guess it depends on what you mean by "care"-- in a certain sense care might preclude hypochondria since hypochondria is often a declarative rather than actual treatment of Si issues, which creates an inference perhaps they care more about keeping up with appearance than actually addressing the things, particularly before they become "live" issues. in other words, genuine concern for Si tends to preclude hypochondria because by "caring" it focuses its attention on the underlying issue before it comes to hysterics, not always but perhaps. reinin calls role function zone of fears

in my opinion this makes IEI and ILI the biggest hypochondriacs, but it all depends on how the cloud of words hangs together

I would flatly reject the idea that SLI and ESI are; in fact, I would argue they're some of the least in that regard
