Default How positive are you of your self-typing?

A lot of people have questioned, or been questioned about-- their types lately. So, how sure are you of your own self-typing?

Post below, or simply answer the poll above. I did not include a 100% option, because that is, IMO, impossible.

    NOTE: votes are public.

I agree that I dont' believe in 100%s as far as this goes. I've seen too many people who change their type after being super super sure for ages.

    I am reasonably sure though.

ok cheers. Certain enough to only question during times of boredom or random self doubt.... overall, as certain as I can be without being 100% certain.

No. To be 100% sure would require absolute, empirical evidence.

i find it hard to put a percentage on this kind of thing. when it comes to your self-typing, you are either wrong or you're right about it... in my case, i think my self-typing is right of course

I'm pretty sure I'm ESI. The only alternative I've seriously considered is EII.

I put 70-79%... IEI fits well, but I'm afraid I'm going to suddenly have a revelation and realize that I'm actually LSE or something.

Of course, everyone says 99%, but half of you are going to turn around and change your self-typing a few months from now.

self typing = house of cards. Partly because it's easy to have a distorted self-image, partly because socionics indulges this human tendency towards self-deception.

I tried on many different types and SLI is the only one that fits well and makes the most sense. Every other type I've thought I was feels right for a little while but something doesn't feel quite right with it after awhile. SLI does.

100%. The only alternative is that socionics is bogus, not that I am some other type. The Ti-PoLR comments in this thread are painfully naive.

Not that certain at all. I relate to people of different types, and different descriptions sound like me.

idk, maybe 90%...? I'm open to the possibility that I could be wrong or that Socionics in general might be coincidental>factually universal, the rest of the doubt comes from questioning stereotypes and how that may affect my type. But overall, what I think I'm strong and weak in, seek IE wise and other intertype relational reasons fits with my self-typing, so I'd say overall I feel fairly confident about it

Of course it is. Certainty is subjective, even when it's 100 %, it's not the same as truth.

What matters is how you reach certainty. Do you read horoscopes or do you have a better method.

I went with 80-89%, it would actually be somewhere in the high 80s low 90s. I can never be certain of anything and its impossible for me to not acknowledge the possibility that my self typing may be wrong.. But I have considered basically everything and IEI fits. There's nothing to go against it, like with all other types I have thought about.

I cannot really doubt my type anymore so I would say 100%. It is so connected with my whole understanding of socionics, my whole network of intertype relations with people etc.

Why even use percentage if you can't achieve 100 % certainty? And as long as you are more certain on X than on Y or Z, the numbers would be arbitrary. 1 % certainty might be pretty certain if there's no alternative that's more plausible.

Ah, but you apparently missed part of the statement. If you are 100% sure AND you happen to be RIGHT, then there are no worries. It's only if you are 100% sure and WRONG that you must be psychotic. As long as you're right-- and you can prove you're right to others-- you are perfectly sane.

Gender is something that has been accepted and proven scientifically; all nations, races, and cultures agree on the definitions of "man" and "woman." Gender is very specific. Sure, there are rare cases where gender is more vague, such as in the case of someone born with both sets of genitalia.

I am a woman, because I look and sound like a woman, sure; but I also possess the genetic double-X chromosome that defines me as a "woman," I have given birth, twice.

No human being on this earth could refute the fact that I am a woman and be taken at all seriously. However, if someone were to question my socionics type, they could be much more successful.
