Default Good places to eat in Chicago?

Specifically downtown? In the middle-ish by the water?

    Edit: PM's are acceptable, too.

Oh, to find you in dreams - mixing prior, analog, and never-beens... facts slip and turn and change with little lucidity. except the strong, permeating reality of emotion.

The Berghoff, though I'm not sure how close that is to teh water. Klay Oven if you like Inidan food. Yum!

It's been a couple of years since i've hung out there much though - you could check out Yelp Chicago for newer reviews. You can see how close they are to where you'll be too.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

A friend that's a chef in Chicago recommended a few places that are reasonably priced:

http://www.loumalnatis.com/ if you're looking for good pizza.

http://www.hub51chicago.com/ is allegedly some great food.

    http://www.quartinochicago.com/ Italian food.

http://www.hillstone.com/#/restaurants/bandera/ Bandera is supposed to be really good too, one of her favorite places in the area.

I love Pizzeria Uno. I'm not a fan of deep dish per se, but this is deep dish the way it was meant to be, and it's amazing.

I can't remember anymore, it's been too long since I've been home You really can't go wrong with any pizzeria there..or hotdog place come to think of it. I dunno, downtown is too much for me, I prefer the little restaurants you find on the outskirts like Lincoln Park. I need to go home asap.

    (EDIT: All of this.)
I had this chain right by my house and there'd be lines and lines of people but I never really got the appeal. I guess it's your typical Chicago food but I dunno, I never really liked it that much. If you find a place called Babes Hot Dogs, you MUST eat there. MUST.
