Default Averages faces of types - visual identification

I was pointed in the direction of this site earlier today:
    http://www.faceresearch.org/
It allows you to create "average" faces by compiling several different photos of faces together. Ananke suggested someone do this for specific sociotypes, so I thought I'd try it out. It takes a lot of work to do, so I only did two averages (male and female) for two different types.

Without looking at the filenames, see if any specific types are discernible from these:

I couldn't tell what they were supposed to be and ended up clicking on the file names, lol.

I wonder if this photomashing actually averages out traits such that it's harder, not easier, to discern type. These faces look really bland and characterless to me.

    Cool idea, all the same.

That seems very likely. The more you average faces out the more 'character' and individuality they lose. I would say that there are definitely some noticeable differences between the two type-mashes, although it may be hard to tell their specific types nonetheless.

FWIW, the two top photos do seem very IP and the bottom two do seem EJ.

I'll guess ISTj (top, dunno why) and ENFj (bottom, since the dude looks like Dennis Hopper).

Actually the more I look at them, the more I see them as actually representing the types of their composite people. I should do more of these. Later.

btw you can check the filenames for each of the pictures to see what types they're made up of.

Two more. Both are the same type; the male one seems a lot more obvious than the female one.

Again, the biggest trouble is simply finding good straight-on photos of the types.

Oh good, that means something is being done right, haha.

If anybody wants to help out, the best thing you can help me do is find good straight-on face photos of people, preferably with neutral expressions. Just finding those photos takes up the most time for me.

EDIT: for those of you too lazy to look at the filenames, the OP first two photos are Te-ISTp, the second two are Ni-ENFj.

Oh Pearl Aday too, you can really see her in that composite I think.

Okay the face masher thing is down atm, so the next one will have to wait a while

I have a bunch of these, where I merged all the photos of each type from the gallery, to where you couldn't really make out what people they were comprised of. Never got around to putting them online. I used www.morphthing.com

Hmm, this isn't too bad of an alternative. I just don't like how you can only use four photos at a time. Kinda want to see howthe results I get from there differ from what I get on faceresearch (the face masher is -still- down).

I would love to be able to do a mash of maybe a dozen or more people at a time, but that just takes too much work. There's also the problem of simply finding people of a certain type with good photos (finding female Ti-INTjs is gonna be a blast). The more people of one type you get into one consolidation the more that specifically type-relevant facial traits are seen and the less random variations there are.

Okay, two more. These feel kind of off to me, not sure why.

It was really hard to find females of this type for some reason.

EDIT: Updated the female one with two other faces. Doesn't seem too much different in any case, just blurrier lol.

Four more pics made, don't cheat like jughead

These both are pretty spot on

I'd say the female looks more representative than the male here

Also I airbrushed the glasses off of the Ne-ENTp female.

    lol Fi-IEE looks like UDP.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

    Couple more

The male one seems weirdly generic, but the female one is 115% spot on.

Actually looking back at it, the male one isn't too far off.

    Default Average faces

There's this site where you can make average faces:

    http://www.faceresearch.org/

Post your average faces here. I know a lot of SEIs, so I made an SEI face. I'm curious to see whether there will be distinguishable differences between the types.

    SEI
    4 male, 5 female

Wow, the eyes really look different. It could be because more of the ESEs were smiling, though.

That second pic don't work yo. Try saving it to your account then linking it.

Also I'm using primarily famous people, but if I need to fill a type out with people on here/people I know then I'll do that. Haven't done that very much though. It shouldn't even matter if they're celebrities or not, so long as they're typed correctly and there are good photos of them it should all come out roughly the same.

The main problem with something like this is making sure that every face in the photomash is actually typed correctly. The more mistypes, the more "noise" in the results. So I'm kind of curious as to who the original source images for each are.

It's not that I don't trust your typings skills, Galen, it's just that I don't 100% trust anyone's typing skills, including my own.

I understand where you're coming from, but this seems to be working really well imo. Sometimes I'll only use half of the faces in a composite and see what results come up, and for the most part those results match up with the final composites very nicely.

For the most part, nothing seemed "obvious" to me. I suppose if you go and train yourself to learn the socionix gallery faces, you'd do well.

Ah, ok, that's what I thought. The composite faces don't look particularly like my mental picture of the types, because they're based on a list of typings I strongly disagree with.

Well then I'd like to see what your mental picture for the various types are. I don't want to argue the individual typings I listed, that just seems like a pointless and exhausting exercise.
