Not sure how socionics-related this is, but it's really interesting. When was this study done?

    Well, shit.

I threw all my IM conversations into the fire pit. It would have been interesting to see how it came out though.

    between boyfriend (SLI) and i:
    0.68 - when we're getting along
0.79 - when fighting (..? i don't understand why this one is bigger when we're fighting)

between an acquaintance (SLE - i babysit for her) and i
0.71 (our texting history is kind of boring. but we get along much better face to face)

between best friend (SEE) and i
    0.94 - when we're getting along
    0.87 - when fighting

blew my mind! that is terribly interesting. My last girlfriend and I had a hard time breaking up because we could communicate with each other so well. Synchrony of speech exactly! Needless to say I want her back. as billy shakespere once said: "absence makes the heart grow fonder".

that's too much work (damn I am lazy). but I agree with this premise and have noticed it in my interpersonal relations. I might not have noticed it as such prior to my knowledge of socionics. I would have noticed that I clicked better with this or that person or that I could understand someone really easily but I wouldn't have realized why.

Just imagine how much better the research would be if it DID consider the existing IM semantics literature.

I tested IM conversation of me and the person I chat with most, and got 0.66.

Then I took tcaud's wall of text and labcoat's wall of text, and found their compatibility to be at 0.87.

I guess sometimes speaking the same language makes it that much easier to disagree!

    I agree.

I feel like with duals you communicate the same way but in different modalities. Like, the dual says what you were thinking, or you write what the dual was thinking, etc. But the writing styles might be somewhat different (as demonstrated by the SLI concise writing vs IEE long-windedness). So the score might not necessarily reflect the degree to which two people understand each other.

    I think the thing is...

This measures compatibility of speech. Duals may have different speaking styles, but say in the case of really good friends it's quite easy to read between the lines and translate what the other person is saying into you-speak.

I've often been in situations with my best friend where one of us has been "but what I meant was <blah blah>" and it's like "Yup, I got that at the time "

Of course, one's competence with a skill (such as speaking another person's "language") is typically proportional to the time spent using it...

maybe...idk Thing is, most of the time when I read his posts, they just seem so...foreign to me. Totally different language, or so it seems to me. But then, maybe it's not so much that I can't understand him, but more like I get this attitude towards his post like...who cares? yk? Anyway, maybe he feels the same way reading my stuff. idk.

Maybe it's just the fact that in both the samples I used, we both used several Socionics terms...

Lulz, putting a number on writing style. Because that's statistically sound.

PS: I got .58 with myself using two different pieces of academic writing samples on sociology. "To give you an idea, most LSM scores for general writing samples range between .60 and .90, with the average being around .78."

I'm calling bullshit on the methodology.

Oh I see. So you're saying it's my liberal use of elipses that resembles BnD's writing...well, if that's all that we have in common, then...it's not really much, is it?

It's hard to pin it on anything objective, but reading that segment, BnD's voice just popped straight into my head.

Could this be an overly complicated way to express what would be commonly defined as "vibe" and "chemistry" between two individuals?

I got 0.68 with myself. It's quite odd that I'm so not in synch with myself. I wouldn't call this test very reliable since examples of a single person should at least range in the 90s.

Ok here are a few comparisons with supposedly non-deltas.

Between Golden & myself - LSM score is 0.9
Between Mountain Dew & myself - LSM score is 0.88
Between Starfall & myself- LSM score is 0.82
Between Redbaron & myself - LSM score is 0.88
Maybe try comparing with Ryu, Ashton, Aiss, Aixelsyd. Other STs (delta and beta) and gamma NTs. See what you get.

I think people in the same club can communicate similarly (just have totally differing goals and perspectives) and the similarity with Mountain Dew might possibly be Ne-driven.
