Default can a persons preferences change?

Do you think preferences can change if environmental conditions do not support the persons preference

Lets say you use N but the people around you only agree with S behavior

or you have a preference for P but your environment demands J

    Can a person change?

I don't think the way you metabolize information can change so I don't think Socionics types can change. I don't know how I feel about subtypes. Part of me thinks there isn't much to them, except that some people focus a bit more on their creative function than others. But that could be because of choice, because of experience, because of maturity level, whatever, and it seems like it could fluctuate. So, if there's something to subtypes, then I can see that changing. From the descriptions, I would have been Ne subtype when young, and I'd be Fi subtype now.

For a short time you could adjust and use a certain function, but depending on how well aware of that function you are it could be anywhere from painful to pleasant.

You probably couldn't focus on it for long, though, and would relapse into your normal functions' habits.

No, I've never seen anyone change his type, nor do I know anyone who knows anyone that changed his type.

Relying on weak functions is a sure-fire way to spread chaos and destruction.

Just ask the master of weak Ti:

Mariella hit the nail on the head. The way you perceive the world doesn't really change, so your underlying type doesn't either.

What can change is how you interact with other people, and what sorts of information you present.

How you present that information still filters through your unique processing pipes.

Sorry, yeah. Your type can't change by definition of what a socionics type is, but what you look like on the outside can (say, ILEs presenting "fake Se", or suppressing Fi-PoLR expression).

No more making posts while my brain is waking up for me.
