Default Examples of Delta thinking in your life

    Here's one from me.

I just bought one of these:

I had been avoiding buying one because:

    They're expensive and wasteful
    They're bad for the environment

I finally got one anyway because:

I think it'll make dusting take less time
I hate the feel of the dustcloth on my hand and with this I'll just feel the plastic handle

(I just noticed that the packaging in that picture is not in English. It looks like German?)

So anyway the person who sold me on these is LSI. LOL. I did volunteer work for her two years ago, and she used these, and I thought, "That's bad for the environment." I swore I'd never get them. But two years after I saw her use them and put my nose up, I've gotten one myself! It really did work well, I have to admit. Every time I've dusted over the past two years, I've thought of that duster and how easy it was to just throw the dusty things away. Ack! I'm cringing at the environmental awfulness of that again! My husband is away all week for work or I wouldn't have gotten it. He'll make some comment about money and wastefulness and environmental impact when he gets home. But then he hardly ever does any dusting so he doesn't really get a vote.

This is almost a Delta Lounge part Deux. This post is not to be taken seriously, I just got thinking about my valuing Si and Te and Fi and all that when I was battling myself as to whether to get the stupid thing. I didn't actually look at the price. I'll go quick look. OMG the handle and 5 duster things is $5, and a refill of 10 duster things is $10 !!!!! That's $1 every time I dust!! I can't get these again.

You can use something like this to dust. But I don't dust anymore either.

The thing about not dusting is that people stop by my house all the time and it's embarrassing if it isn't at least kind of clean.

I used (and use for the little one) cloth diapers for my kids. I have tons of worn cloth diapers that could be used to dust.

This. Of course, I do actually dust once in a while, but only where it's visible...and not nearly as often as I "should."

Waste to go to a landfill, where I could just use a cloth. Also, the manufacturing process creates pollution, where I could just use a cloth.

I had the same issue with the Swiffer Wet Jet I was going to buy; it costs around 50 dollars but worth about 5 in material, plus the sheets cost around 10 bucks for a dozen and the cleaning solution another 5-6.
Ended up investing in a steam mop for over a hundred dollars, but it doesn't require anything but water and the cloths are washable

I made my own environmentally friendly dusters, both for floor and for dusting. I wrap cloth around a wooden handle and a wood mop...I throw the cloth in the washing machine, but then I always think about how much of the environment I'm sacrificing in washing these, because washing does also consume energy. I will not buy those disposable dusters on the grounds that it is very environmentally wasteful.

He may have been intentionally stereotypical of delta values for a humorous effect.

As for your remark, yes, I would agree with you. I see more people complaining about how their relationships sucks and is not stable and problematic and too stressful rather than people complaining of how they are getting along smoothly with their significant other.

Oh, well, yeah in the social sphere, everyone wants their relationships to always be on the up-and-up. I was more concerned about the conflict sphere. I mean, yeah, descriptions of Se-base types make them out to be berzerkers intent on conquering and pillaging everything they can, but that's just a stereotype, right?

Not everybody likes stability. I don't think the opposite is as extreme as "pillaging." I think some people think of stability as a bit boring, but they'd probably think of the opposite more as "vibrancy" or something.

they derive their stability from their lack of emotional attachment to one person; it justifies their actions.

    Stability is relative and dependent.`
