That is an excellent question. LEt's try and break this down...
What we're investigating: am I talking with myself.
So what we need to measure and ascertain the existence of is a conversation that I am having with myself.
The first and simplest way of thinking of this is that I am assuming two alter-egos who each interact with one another within reasonably defined bounds of "self": each alter-ego needs to have a reasonably distinct personality, and completely discrete mental processes.

Just one example: in MBTI, Se (extraverted sensing) is associated with life pleasures, excitement etc. By contrast, the socionic function(extraverted sensing) is first and foremost associated with control and expansion of personal space (which sometimes can manifest in excessive aagression, but often also manifests in a capability of managing lots of people and things).
For this reason, we consider comparison between MBTI types and socionic types by functions to be rather useless than useful.
