Do you do this or did you as a kid?
Also your best guess for your type, and if you want an analysis on whether its type related....
G'day

G'day
I did it as a child as well as today (if I've got the time and inspiration). Building models is a very nice hobby, no matter if they're also functional or purely aesthetic.
Self-typing is INTx, currently leaning towards INTj. I'd be interested to know if it's type related.

IMO, it's LII related. ILEs have little patience.
ILE "Searcher"
Socionics: ENTp
DCNH: Dominant --> perhaps Normalizing
Enneagram: 7w6 "Enthusiast"
MBTI: ENTJ "Field Marshall" or ENTP "Inventor"
Astrological sign: Aquarius
To learn, read. To know, write. To master, teach.
My SEE brother used to. I never saw the point.
My istp's used to as a kid. He's lost interest now but has said he'd like to get back into it.
That's an + thing.
I did model rockets as a kid, the ones that fly
The cars and airplanes for "display" had no point for me.
I think I would have enjoyed it to some extent. I never had any model cars or airplanes, though. What I did love, though, were Legos and other building toys.
My life's work (haha):

What about these things?
(Not that I've ever made one or anything, or stuff.)

I really hate building models but I'm in love with the idea of them. Like, gluing together a metal model sucks because it takes forever to chew the glue off of your fingers and you have to mash the pieces forever to get them to stay together and then they fall off if you so much as look at them funny.
Bothersome.
Also I find I really only buy models because I really want to buy the mental representation of that thing. I'm not buying a 1/300th scale F-16, I'm buying the coolness of an F-16, with all its sleekness prowling through the skies, turning ugly-ass MiGs into scrap metal. But then you put it together and, well, it's just a 1/300th scale F-16.
Disappointing.
I built medical models (a skull, "visible woman"), Estes rockets, space vehicles (lunar orbiter/lander, etc.), dinosaurs, Odd Rods, movie monsters, and military air and land vehicles. I hung the planes and rockets from the ceiling with fishing line and small eye hooks. Later I began hanging the tanks and brontosaurs and mummies and whatever else in the same way. At some point in my teens I blew them all up with firecrackers.
I don't; neither have the patience nor the interest. My ISTp father did do that kind of thing if I recall correctly.
