Default What type do I actually look like?

I've had a fair few people saying I'm a sensor ( ), so please put your opinions here (regardless of what your think my type is based on everything else).

    http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ishy/ball1.jpg

    http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ishy/ball2.jpg

I should probably note that the ball photos depict me in a very uncomfortable situation. It really isn't my scene. Note the stress signals, arms held very close to the body, looking suspiciously at camera, etc.

edit: the pictures annoyed me because of the scrollbars that appeared, so now they are just hyperlinks.

okay, types I think ishy could be...

    INFp
    INTp
    ISTp

I do see a case for you being a sensor based on the way you absorb and present information. I also see a case for Te.

Are you absolutely certain that Ben isn't an ESFp or ESTj?

Not sensor bias, I promise. It just seems unlikely (due to my more negative traits)

Not an ESTj, but he could possibly be ESFp. I'm sticking with ESTp for the moment.

I only suggested ESTj because I remember you describing him as a bit of a workaholic, if I recall correctly.

Well, you look Irish on your theatrical pictures; I have no idea how does that correlate to socionics

He's not a workaholic, he just tends to get excited about too many projects at once, neglecting both his health and the people around him.

That happens to me aswell. I wouldn't call it workaholism, since it hasn't got any "duty" implication whatsoever.

    Default A Guess

    @ Aleesha
Could you possibly see yourself as an ENTP?
I think you at one stage at least thought that introverted thinking could be your strongest function. It would be well compatible with ENTP, but of course it is not really possible to objectively tell when one is using any given function, to the extent these mysterious creatures exist in the first place.

What about the Gulenko's erotic attitudes? Could you see yourself as an infantile extroverted thinker. How much of your thoughts you need to keep private even from your loved ones and/or how much emotional support could you need or appreciate.

I am unfortunately not very good at visual identification, sometimes people happen to remind me of someone I know well, but usually not, so...

It is always worth to read Rick DeLongs's excellent site:
    http://socionics.us/types/descriptions.shtml
Or on extraverted intuition as a lead function:

I don't think I've ever thought I had ego , and I can't really see myself as an extroverted thinker, either. Definately not "business-inclined", as far as Gulenko goes.

I don't feel the need to keep my emotions private from my partner, I just keep my emotions fairly private as a matter of principle. I don't need too much in the way of emotional support as i'm quite resilient, but I need others to be open with their emotions as otherwise I can't tell how they feel and I would live in perpetual uncertainty and mistrust. I need to be reminded that I'm loved or I'll start to assume that I'm not loved, and then I feel helpless to do or say anything about it.

In the second set of pics you look more ENFp. In the webcam shots you actually look a lot like me when I take pics of myself. It's hard to describe... I should probably put something up to demonstrate but I'm too lazy.

    Okay, see here:

I can't quite place why your pics seem similar to me. But I almost always avoid eye contact with the camera lenses out of some irrational aversion, which you do, too but probably for a different reason, lol. The angles tend also to make the pictures lopsided. (Which I actually think makes for some cool artistic interest. The gaze is sort of neutral/pleasant.

Me not looking at the camera/mirror isn't so much an aversion is it is a habitual preoccupation that occurs in a relaxed frame of mind. In uncomfortable situations (i.e. my ball and basically any time somebody else is taking my photo, I've never been a fan of having my photo taken) you'll notice I look directly at the camera even if my head is tilted. I don't trust people holding cameras!

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

INFjs tend to be more or less sure about their ability to love - for INTPs this is a major issue of uncertainty.
    Hope it helps.
PS INFJs often show very little external emotions, INFPs usually quite a lot.

Wait... I just remembered, when you first got here, you asked us to type him from a description and I said ESTJ. You decided ESTP and I just thought, "Whatever". But are you completely sure that he's not ESTJ now?

Sorry, I guess I was a bit unclear. What I meant was to just give one example of the typical differences between these types. To me it seems unlikely that you would be INFj, but INTp could well be possible.
