    Default New Type Representatives

Traditionally, the Russians have assigned names to the types to make them more accessible and understandable, and to provide a sort of "mental picture" of what the type is like. This includes names like Balzac, Zhukov, Gorky, Gabin, etc. This is all well and good, but these names don't exactly strike vivid mental pictures into the minds of English-speakers in the West.

So, we need to come up with our own. Submit your nominations in this thread for characters and people from popular culture to represent each type. After a while, we'll compile the nominations and make a poll to vote on them.

Don't feel obligated to pick someone for each type; just nominate people you feel clearly exemplify their type.

    Here are my nominations.

ILE: Doc Brown (Back to the Future)
    LII: Spock (Star Trek)
    ESE: Bill Cosby
SEI: "The Dude" (The Big Lebowski)

    EIE: Martin Luther King Jr.

    ESI: Martha Stewart

SLI: Chuck Norris or Red Green (do people know who Red Green is outside of Canada?)
    Quaero Veritas.

I worry that Doc Brown might be a bit "mad scientist" for ILE.

Similarly, Chuck Norris doesn't really conjure up images of an SLI for me. He's more "that kung-fu action guy who does the roundhouse kicks". Cultural thing perhaps?

Another option for ESE: Jackie Chan.

I like Spock and The Dude.

mad scientist is perfect for ILE though.

Sort of. It feels like a shallow stereotype though.

well yeah, if that's all it was then you're right. But Doc Brown wasn't necessarily a shallow character, that's just the part of him that stood out at first.

One vote for Larry David as ILE, but I'm not sure if he counts as pop-culture.

they should be typings that have less than a 10% arguability factor. . also Karl Marx? really? that's popular culture to you?

I think that we can come up with a list that most over one will agree with, if we just work at it.

I think this is not a good idea because every one of those individuals has a bunch of traits that are not even type-related. This has all the potential for spreading some more misconceptions.

These are fine examples with no arguablity factor to people who understand Socionics, because they're obvious examples that should lead someone to grasp each type well, which is why I said if you don't agree then there's no reason to tell me. However it might be useful to provide more main examples for each type to make a good comparison. Karl Marx is perhaps the most famous INTj there is, or at least one of them, but if you have a better idea than Marx for the INTj representative then speak it.

they should be typings that everybody (or as close as we can get) agrees with, not typings with "no arguablity factor to people who understand socionics" (aka people who agree with my favorite interpretation of socionics).

also, fyi, most people only know who Marx is (if that, most people only know him as "that communist guy" or something along those lines).

these type representatives should be people who are readily known to the great uneducated masses who spend their lives absorbing popular media instead of reading old books written 10000 years ago.

This seems like it will be a popular thread. Maybe have a poll in each individual quadra forums for each type with like 10 or so names to see is the clear cut choice for that type?

My suggestion that best describes ILI: Demetri Martin
