Recently I was talking with a friend about whether Monty Python's humor was alpha or Gamma...
Any thoughts, anyone?

Clear Alpha humor.

I'd like to hear how it could be construed as Gamma humour.
Definitely not Gamma that's for sure.

Delta Irrational or something. Maybe some ENTp mixed in.
But the problem with threads like these is that there isn't some convenient magical connection between things like these and a quadra. People of many different quadras were probably involved in creating it.

I really don't understand how anyone could see Monty Python as anything but pure Alpha. Primarily Alpha Irrational.
Quaero Veritas.
And that, Krig, is precisely why I am curious.
It's the dry-ness of it. If you're beta and you expect your Fe to be loud and in-your-face, rather than random and... less explicit, I guess, then you can mistake the subdued Fe for non-Fe, i.e., Fi. To put it another way, betas can tell what delta feels like (i.e., opposite of me), but alpha and gamma can sometimes fall into an indistinct mush (i.e., different from me but similar in some ways...?), and I'd imagine its the same for deltas (but backwards).
Anyway, yes, it's overall very alpha humor, clearly Ne + Fe... but I know some probable gammas who quite enjoy it. Shrug.
Not a rule, just a trend.
IEI. Probably Fe subtype. Pretty sure I'm E4, sexual instinctual type, fairly confident that I'm a 3 wing now, so: IEI-Fe E4w3 sx/so. Considering 3w4 now, but pretty sure that 4 fits the best.
Yes 'a ma'am that's pretty music...
I am grateful for the mystery of the soul, because without it, there could be no contemplation, except of the mysteries of divinity, which are far more dangerous to get wrong.

I have never really enjoyed Monty Python and I don't find it humorous. Nevertheless, I have to say that Eric Idle has a very good singing voice.

Monty Python typically pokes fun at authority figures (e.g., military, police, clergy) or other professions (accountants, business, doctors), though typically in a more generalized fashion rather than particular people. This also frequently includes a satire of British bureaucracy.
There are many videos of Monty Python that show strong and -derived sources of humor. But it's not so much -devaluing as it is just a natural quality or extension of their humor.

To lessons in proper Latin grammar:
Taking things literally while having absurd logical arguments:
Or sketches revolving around silly rules:

I don't see how Monty Python could be at all Gamma. It has a very alpha-tinged Ne ridiculousness about it.
I just want to know about this discussion Juju had with his friend. How is Monty Python gamma?

Alpha humor.
It's too immature to be Gamma humour.
Well I think human thought processing is so complex that comedy largely aimed to tickle alpha buttons can also turn out to tickle another quadra's buttons in some different unintended way for different reasons.
I think that's why people across quadras can like a particular movie or a singer or actor from a different quadra (even an opposing quadra).
Also I think the most popular movies and shows are aimed to please people of all quadras (perhaps the team making them involved members of different quadras).
(oh btw, was this a typo and you meant "can't"? )

Pretty much how I feel about it.I have never really enjoyed Monty Python and I don't find it humorous.
The main problem with associating this with alpha is that it is in so damn many ways extreme besides maybe having an alpha influence.
It's exceedingly british. It's also vulgar and immature. These are three things I feel repulsed from, and none of them are in any direct way associated with alpha despite what some morons may think.
You're not "vulgar", nor is any ISFp that I have met so far.
me included?
anticipating your answer as yes... I can be very vulgar I think, but I'm aware of the sensibilities of the people that I'm interacting with and naturally change myself accordingly. If you sat in on me and hitta having a conversing sometimes, you'd see.
then again, I have propriety. so maybe that makes me not vulgar?
Alphas can be vulgar for the sake of being vulgar - Watch Larry David if you don't believe me. But it's usually expressed in a way that gives it mass appeal, they might even go to pains to make it seem witty, life affirming or self-deprecating in some way. They always know who's watching.

Take that scene where trumpets are blown from a bunch of men's assholes. Sorry, but no thanks.I'm confused though as to how Monty Python is vulgar. Their humor is not only quite clean, but is widely regarded by critics as being exceptionally well-written intelligent, yet in an understated way so as to be accessible.
I know, but the key word in that sentence is "can". The association isn't a direct one and only runs in one direction. It's not like when a person is vulgar that gives any indication as to the person being alpha.Alphas can be vulgar for the sake of being vulgar - Watch Larry David if you don't believe me. This place is really going downhill.
And it was good.
Best post all thread.
Which is why I didn't say that. I said this:Likewise, I don't think you can make a case that just because something is vulgar, immature or "British", that it's definitely not Alpha.
none of them are in any direct way associated with alpha
So what's the reason for strongly rejecting Alpha?
