I'm not a huge facebook fan, but I use it sometimes for IM chat to keep in contact with some people.

As i'm at a loose end just now I thought i'd look at peoples types and see if there's a correlation with socionics.

Approximately 15% of them I am uncertain of.

So it does show a massive preferential for Delta, 75% in total.

There are a couple of odds and ends in the uncertain category I suspect are IEI.

How do people wind up on your facebook?

I'm not one for befriending friends of friends etc, it's people that i've got on with and thought that they were good people or interesting or something so i've befriended them.

I've had a facebook account for ages, but just started to use it maybe 5 or 6 months ago to keep in contact with various goings on mainly with people that live locally but are always on the move, it kinda helps me not miss out on different activities people are doing that I'd like to be involved in as I decided at one point to expand my horizons, and also got 'pressure' to use it from 2 people I know. Also some people who don't live locally but that I find are cool people to talk to etc.

How do people wind up on your facebook?

People wind up on my facebook because I met them while I was out and thought they were cool, because we have a lot of mutual friends, or because they send me a friend request (even if I have NO idea who they are lol).

My "best" facebook friend is a socionics conflictor, ESFj. The online dynamic is quite different from the RL one.

Also, I notice "breadth over depth" people, in particular IEEs tend to have huge friend lists.

Type vs # of friends seems to correlate better with MBTI type than socionics type, which isn't very surprising.

Actually i noticed IEEs tend to be highly selective about their friend lists. I noticed merry types tend to have the huge huge friend lists, in particular Fe-HA types (ILE and SLE) and Fe-dominants. counterintuitively, the SLI i know has like 400 friends, but i think it's because he isns't great at distinguishing who is worth being friends with and who isnt, and he doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Whereas IEEs (and i suspect SEEs) are much more about cherry picking their friends (and we're much much more adept at assessing who is a "good" person per our individual criteria). I actually will go through my friends list periodically and delete "friends" who never talk to me or who really aren't who I would consider a friend, etc. My IEE friends do this as well. I think Fi creative is actually more vicious that way than Fi-dominant. My sister, who is EII, has like twice as many facebook friends as me (but she is involved in ballroom dance, so that could be why). But on the other hand, i feel like EIIs are more naturally into establishing Fi with people and dont really use it as "creatively" as Fi-creatives do.

I wouldn't be surprised if your observation were based on MBTI types, or maybe you're mistyping.

How can you all be so sure you know the types of all these people? I'll take this experiment with a grain of salt...

Can we really be sure of anything in socionics, especially when it comes to typings on very limited infomation. Falsifiability would be hard to demostrate and confirmation bias would be rampant.

It can still be a fun exercise, but any conclusions would be begging the question.

I do agree that it may not show much, guess it can depend on the purpose that you have for facebook, and how bored you are to do it.
