    Default New Here

Hello, I'm new here and wonder If you can type me. I'm 18, going to school, work as a cook, and have my eye on a girl, but am just not ready to ask her out.

I am a good at sports, work hard, and do well enough in school.

Socially, I'm a no nonsense guy, but do like to join in the fun. I have a few close friends, but not much for parties.

At work, I'm very fast and on top of the job. I tend to run over slower co-workers in this fast-paced job. I don't fault others for their slower pace, just want to do what needs done.

I don't seek power or fame, just like to be useful, and in the end, get the girl.

    Welcome

First instinct from the post is SLI: Sensory-Logical Intratim - ISTp (The Artisan)

If that doesn't seem to fit read some of the other profiles to see which matches you best. It's safe to ignore some of the "physical" aspects of these descriptions.

Definitely need more for an accurate typing tho. Try telling us more about yourself.

What made you want to be a cook?
What do you plan on doing after school?
What is it abut the girl that you like?
How long have you been into socionics and what made you get into it?
    Anything else?

    and welcome btw!

    Good questions.

What made you want to be a cook?
They hired me. I started at 16 as a dishwasher. I really didn't care what the job was as long as I could do it.

What do you plan on doing after school?
I started in Pre-Med, but Chemistry is killing me. I'm not sure where I will wind up.

What is it abut the girl that you like?
She's hot, and she laughs at my jokes, and she's very smart. We have two classes together and I went to class early yesterday to see where she would sit. She sat next to me. Good sign.

    Anything else?
Nah, What can I say. I'm think I'm pretty good at most everything. I try to treat people right. I'm not much for politcs or religion, I think both take advantage of people.

Interestingly, that was also my first instinct, although I agree with Azeroffs that the "I tend to run over slower co-workers in this fast-paced job" thing isn't a stereotypically SLI behaviour.

Some more questions for Christian: What is your social behaviour like? Are you fairly open and outgoing in groups of people, or do you tend to be more reserved and laid-back? Do you find yourself frequently active and pursuing goals, or do you tend to be more relaxed and go-with-the-flow?

Also, to pull a Maritsa: Please describe your favourite ice cream and why you like it.

Due to some confusion between the English-speaking and Russian-speaking segments of the socionics community, mostly regarding the similar-but-not-quite-the-same MBTI system, there are both three-letter and four-letter designations for the socionics types. Around here, we tend to use them interchangeably -- to be honest, I don't even notice anymore which form someone is using. Here's a list:

ENTp = ILE (Intuitive Logical Extravert)
ISFp = SEI (Sensory Ethical Introvert)
INTj = LII (Logical Intuitive Introvert)
ESFj = ESE (Ethical Sensory Extravert)

ESTp = SLE (Sensory Logical Extravert)
INFp = IEI (Intuitive Ethical Introvert)
ISTj = LSI (Logical Sensory Introvert)
ENFj = EIE (Ethical Intuitive Extravert)

ESFp = SEE (Sensory Ethical Extravert)
INTp = ILI (Intuitive Logical Introvert)
ISFj = ESI (Ethical Sensory Introvert)
ENTj = LIE (Logical Intuitive Extravert)

ENFp = IEE (Intuitive Ethical Extravert)
ISTp = SLI (Sensory Logical Introvert)
INFj = EII (Ethical Intuitive Introvert)
ESTj = LSE (Logical Sensory Extravert)

They were. Someone decided it would be more efficient to make every type one character shorter. We're still not efficient enough here to communicate using the two-letter codes.

Reserved, but can take center stage if cornered.

Delta ST. Either LSE or SLI. I get the impression you're more introverted (waiting to ask the girl out, few close friends, not much for parties) On the other hand I agree with those who said that running over slower coworkers is not very SLI like. So LSE is possible, I don't get a strong introverted impression, just leaning slightly that way.

Ok. Time for me to fess up. I was just testing you guys. I am Cyrano de SLI. Chrstian is really me, from when I was about 18.

Kudos to Crispy for guessing my type right out of the gate. I notice that a number of SLIs joined the conversation too. Thanks brothers Parkster and Krig.

Overall great typing from all, it was quickly narrowed down to just two types. And all were interested in helping the new kid get a good start.

    Thanks,

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

Crispy, although I agree with this because it accords with my experience so far of the descriptions, would you please elucidate why the physical parts of the descriptions don't always hold up so well?

And what are some physical aspects of type that might be more true and identifiable, in your view? (If any.)

    Anyone else, too--please comment.

It's mostly because the physical descriptions are the easiest to latch on to as proof when it's really the behavior descriptions that should be focused on. The best example is the ISTj profile where it says: "If an LSI male does not have a moustache, there is a logical reason for it, because they usually decide it is a good idea." Even if 70% of LSI males have moustaches, there's 30% of them questioning their type because of that one physical description. The physical descriptions are probably true in more cases than not, but it's safer for the minority if they are ignored.

Kudos to Crispy for guessing my type right out of the gate. I notice that a number of SLIs joined the conversation too. Thanks brothers Parkster and Krig.

Overall great typing from all, it was quickly narrowed down to just two types. And all were interested in helping the new kid get a good start.

    Thanks,

Cyrano, you trick full of bags!

And for those of you who whined about how being fast in getting things done (aka running over slow coworkers) not being an ISTp trait, you should learn better.
