I could hear the difference between all of the pitches, but I had trouble distinguishing which one was higher and which one was lower.

I did pretty good on the tone deafness one, but it's stupid that you can't replay any of the music.

better than I thought that I would do once I realized that it was as much of a memory test as a tone discimination test, but it was more a matter of the second sounding "wrong" compared to the "right" of the first (or the other way around) than comparing actual notes in my head (at least consiously)

I think the tonedeaf test has less to do with tone and more to do with memory, lol. I can guarantee that if I heard both side by side I would get it 100%.

Ahhhh, I should try it again thinking about it that way. I spent so much time fixating on the idea of matching rather than hearing the tones of the music.

Why do you ignore my PMs? Wait, you're probably not even going to read this, you post, then dont even bother to read responses to what you've written.

I'm really quite confused. I don't know when you posted in response to me that I didn't respond. Additionally, I don't have a single PM from you. Are you sure that you sent me PMs? Are they in your Sent box?

    Pitch test: 3.9, 28th% tile
Tone-Deaf test: 63.9%, low average. I felt I was just random guessing my way through it. It all pretty much sounded the same to me.

Is pitch discrimination correlated with Si?

Musical-visual intelligence test: Skilled at visual learning? Measure your musical-visual intelligence online!

    Score: 70%, very good

Rhythm test: Rhythm test: Measure your rhythm comparison abilities

Score: 56% (normal is 60%, possible deficit is under 55%). I suck.

I think musical-visual test is more abstract, it utilizes symbols. I'm curious what cognitive function you think it correlates best to. ? ?

The rhythm test, I think correlates to ?

Wow, I've done terribly at all of these except the visual one, which I scored 100% on.

It was weird. I only had to listen to each one once or twice, and I rapidly answered them all in around 20 seconds each. I guess I need visual abstractions to help me understand music and sounds, because I scored horribly at all the other tests.

Lol, look how high my subscores are. I just noticed them.

weird, I sucked on basically all tests except that one as well, came out to 96% overall.

edit: don't know how it affected things, but I kept my eyes closed when the music was playing, and then just picked the image that 'felt' the best.

For me it wasn't intuitive. I actually critically analyzed what I heard and matched it to the best pattern.

My guess is that we both have a poor sense of rhythm and need visual cues to allow our natural strengths to help us fully cognize what we are hearing.

For myself, music, though something I can hear and comprehend, is meaningless; it doesn't have any kind of symbolic significance to me at all, but is rather just... sounds. The visual aids allowed me to turn the music from a pointless sound pattern into something I am good at: critical analysis. It makes me go Aha! and finally "get" the music.

For you, it's probably something similar, except instead of logical comprehension, the ocular shapes allowed you to imbue the music with intuitive meaning, and somehow--through means I am not able to fully understand--you were able to match the music with the appropriate pattern.

yeah, I definitely think sound frequencies and visual forms are inherently connected... similar to dionysus and apollo working in harmony. but that is interesting, because you seem to separate the experience from the abstraction without losing sight of their connection, whereas I assume the abstraction in the experience. it amounts to the same mental process, more or less. also, I think it makes sense in terms of function placement.

Didn't finish (the monotone beeping was annoying), but I can tell a wee bit under 3 hz apart.

Got 76% in the tonedeaf test though. Could have probably gotten higher if my ADD didn't get in the way.

What do these signs mean—, , etc.? Why cannot socionists use symbols Ne, Ni etc. as in MBTI? Just because they have somewhat different meaning. Socionics and MBTI, each in its own way, have slightly modified the original Jung's description of his 8 psychological types. For this reason, (Ne) is not exactly the same as Ne in MBTI.

Just one example: in MBTI, Se (extraverted sensing) is associated with life pleasures, excitement etc. By contrast, the socionic function (extraverted sensing) is first and foremost associated with control and expansion of personal space (which sometimes can manifest in excessive aagression, but often also manifests in a capability of managing lots of people and things).

For this reason, we consider comparison between MBTI types and socionic types by functions to be rather useless than useful.
