Some other things about this guy. He has written a book (a novel), and I have read the manuscript and critiqued it. The narrator is a thinly veiled version of himself. Some themes:
* wanting to achieve power in the world (in politics); needs to prove himself, make it big, set himself apart from others
* not revealing too much of oneself as a strategy to achieve power
* struggling against the concept of time--the big arc of time; the narrator feels he has no control over it
* his inability to manage the long arc of time messes up his chances to make a relationship with a woman work, and he loses her
LOL if those things don't say SLE then I don't know what does.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

The book is definitely Decisive.
ILI (FINAL ANSWER)
Nah, he's not too good to be true, but, as I said, out of my league. And yes, some of his weaknesses are exposed in the manuscript. But maybe not enough of them--one of the points in my feedback is that the narrator is too much of a cipher, and readers need to be able to connect with him even as he is (in accordance with his character) withholding things.
It is a very good attempt at a first novel--I've seen a whole shitload of them, lol. Think of it as a "Great Gatsby" or "Bright Lights, Big City" sort of book. I'd say he's currently one tier below getting it published, which is higher than about 98 percent of the drivel out there. If he reworks it, he could place the ms. and get some attention. And since he's not someone who gives up readily, he probably will.
So how touchy is an SLE's ego (pride, whatever)? Anyone?
what do you mean?
They are rational or at least think of themselves as rational; They value rationality rather then emotionality; they think that people who are prideful don't think of themselves very highly and they think of themselves as superior to everyone; they think that prideful people are insecure. When they say something pride sounding they give their resume or qualification, hierarchy for the reason why they will say what they will, like prove who they are prior to saying what they will. They want people to know who they are, a qualified person in the hierarchy of their personal role, prior to stating their views on things. They think their fault is rationalizing prior to giving their response...more analytical.
