Wouldn't that depend on what's doing the poking..and what's being poked?

    Poking to get someone's attention.
Poking as a playful way to say Hi.
Poking to let someone know that I'm available if they have the time/inclination.
Poking someone to try to hear them giggle.
Poking someone to try to get them to squirm.
Poking someone to try to get them to scream (or groan).
    Poking someone to..uh...help them feel..uh...good.
    Poking someone to..uh...help me..uh...feel good.

Oh, and being poked cuz the seats are really close together and I'm on the side that they eat with and they keep extending their elbows when they put food to their mouths.

And of course the poking by accident (mistiming of positions and movement).

lol, my first inclination is to poke arms, legs, backs, bellies, butts, and mm-hmm-hmms.

    as for non-people oriented somethings...
I'd say it depended on what it was, and how much I knew about it at the moment.

So my answer would be "to get more information about it"...which isn't an option on the list.

after i voted, it put my answer in italics which made it seem sort of creepy.

I guess I don't tend to describe things as fascinating me unless I'm focusing on it exclusively (more or less)...which rarely happens. But for the purposes of your survey, I guess you can mentally add one to that answer.

oh, I voted that I wanted it to come alive. I was thinking about poking a person though. I do sometimes poke people when I'm trying to emphasize something I'm saying and cajole a reaction out of them. but only if we're close friends. normally I don't touch people.

You are poking an object, not a person. Do you get someone's attention by poking the sandwich they're eating?

If someone poked my sandwich, I'd be pretty weirded out - I'd say that would get my attention in a heartbeat.

Also, I put "you told me to." I can't imagine why I'd... erm... just randomly poke something.

I poke the keys on my keyboard quite often.

"Button to launch a nuclear missile" is closest, so I'm voting that.

How a person responds to physical touch is my best way of gauging how comfortable they are around me.

When I am around someone I am comfortable with and I know I can be playful, and they are ignoring me, I will tap both of their shoulders with my index fingers and say their name repeatedly until they acknowledge me. It's fun to do to someone if they are focused on something like a computer game.

Reminds me, I used to live with someone I typed ISTp and for entertainment I would go into his room, make noises that sounded like I was retarded and then shake his chair and scream "Earthquake!" It's funny, he would just sit there like nothing was happening, and sometimes I would get a muttered "You are so dumb." LOL
