    Default My dad...

I'd previous typed him as SEI-Fe but due to the incredible way in which he seems affected by Se in my sister-in-law I'm rethinking this. He's THE MOST indecisive person I've ever met. Even worse than me. Here are some pics...

cute huh. I love my dad. So whattdya think? IEI or SEI? He was a choral director for many years, then switched careers and worked as a sort of creative manager for an insurance company, doing their newsletter, advertising and planning incentive trips. Loves to eat (heh), seems to have an alpha sense of humor, likes the silly slapstick type of things. Loves technology, spends hours researching whatever he's interested in, to get the best deal on the best thing but takes for-ever to make a decision. Then when the decision is made, he continues researching to reassure himself that he got the best deal. He's delightful. Tends toward depression--definitely has a dark side (but don't we all). Can spend hours alone yet genuinely has a good time with people and is always glad AFTER a party, that he made the effort. My mom has to DRAG him around to do stuff. Drives her a bit crazy. Now after writing all of this, I'm still leaning towards SEI. lol...

Hey, I'm still new to Socionics, but I'll second your SLE typing. I looked up both IEI and SLE to consider it, but really, I'll just go with a personal thing.

I'm good friends with an IEI man and can see some superficial resemblance, but your dad just seems so much more adorable and less serious. The particular IEI man I'm thinking of is not indecisive, really. He does always have multiple projects brewing, but he works doggedly to eventually finish them all. He doesn't need to be dragged anywhere. He doesn't do the dragging, either, but will take a position of responsibility to make sure that people are where they are supposed to be and do what they need to do. And the IEI friend is a literary person, the editor of a poetry journal.

Your dad reminds me a bit of my dad, who was totally not an IEI, although not unlike in your case, it's a type I considered for him, then rejected.

I'll assume that was a typo there and you meant SEI>SLE.

Sorry, yeah. I am still fumbling with these new acronyms as I assimilate them.

I'm sorry, the stereotypes... I can't seem to get away from them... I can't help but notice that in every picture he's either with food or being a couch potato. And smiling or making funny faces.

Anyway, I'm not doing VI anymore (not that I ever did in a serious or "I'm sure about this" way, but I'm just not going to bother with it since I'm just pulling things out of my ass when I do it anyway and that was okay at first but now I just can't seem to bring myself to do it, I mean in a post) so I don't have anything to suggest as a type.

Okay, well, I guess that he doesn't look like someone with weak Fe from those pictures and I would be happy with Alpha SF (and not because of the food, but his sort of self-presentation). He seems like a laid-back happy go lucky sort of guy who might hide unhappy feelings behind the happy-go-luckyness? I'm stopping.

lol! Yeah I know, he's like the ultimate stereotyped SEI in some ways. He does love food. He even takes pictures of it. And he does hide his unhappiness. There's this sort of melancholy. I had him take an enneagram test once and he tested 4w5. 9 was right up there too though. *shrug*

My mom is IEE, by the way, DJ.

    SEI-Fe
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

    ESFj
    -
    Dual type (as per tcaudilllg)
    Enneagram 5 (wings either 4 or 6)?

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE
