Model A

Model A - a model of human information processing, consisting of 8 functions, 4 strong and 4 weak. The model is named in honor of Aushra Augustinavichiute.


Structure of the Model A
The model is a set of eight mental functions distributed on 4 levels, or horizontal blocks, filled with eight aspects of information metabolism. It is a development of Jungian model.
It was based on Freud's model of the psyche, consisting of three components: awareness (ego, "I"), conscience (?) (super-ego, superego) and the subconscious (id, "it"). Id from the Freud's model is divided into two blocks in the Model A: strong vital power, leaving behind a Freudian name - id, and weak vital - a super-id.

Model A. 1, 3, 5, 7 - accepting functions, 2, 4, 6, 8 - producing functions; arrows next to dimension can define a sign of the function: ← - plus and asking (left), minus and declaring (right); → - plus and declaring (right), minus and asking (left). Binary signs of the functions of model A
Standard, each of the 8-function is characterized by three orthogonal binary features:
1. strong - weak;
2. mental - vital;
3. accepting - producing.
All functions of the model A can distinguish the following dichotomies:

• Strong (control) functions are in units of ego and id. This is zone of their own abilities. Embody the confidence and independence, the ability to operate continuously and efficiently. Our own view is more important than any other, it is to be spread in the surrounding world.
• Weak (executive) functions are in blocks of super-ego and super-Id. This anti-conscience and the conscience of man, for him to adjust to the society. The zone of perpetual oscillation and uncertainty. Our own view is either absent or weak, so that people could easily be persuaded to another point of view.

• Mental functions - belonging to to the mental (active) ring in model A. These functions are controlled by consciousness. The world and self is seen through these functions as if from outside, striving for objectivity and universality. The display impersonal, is embodied in verbal form, at the 2-y (?) signaling system.
• Vital functions - belonging to the vital (passive) ring in model A. The functions of the subconscious, and conscious little control. The world is known through their own feelings and experiences, through the projection inside. For the vital functions are characterized by subjectivity, personal representation. The result is usually embodied in the activities through a second signal (?) system. The arguments go from first-person.

• Accepting functions - learn about the world, they are the first in the blocks to receive information from the outside. Their task - to get a model of reality, their goal - an understanding that comes around.
• Producing functions - means of changing reality. Being in a model after the accepting function, they find the solution of tasks set before them, so they do not reflect reality, as accepting, and generate a distorted picture of an imaginary world, which is a solution of their tasks.

• Inert (reference) functions - rather rigid in their work, they are almost immune to internal changes. They require an external impulse of sufficient strength to them that something has changed. They are characterized by fairly long response, and often commit the state to which led the external impact. Thus they tend towards relative permanence.
• Contact functions are very mobile and able to well manage their internal state. Through them a primary reaction to the impact from the outside happens (?). They produce an initial processing of information received, they also generate a final decision. Thus, their activity is determined by what happens around or current tasks, among which they can easily switch.

• Verbal (discursive) functions (or overvalued) belong to clusters of ego and super-Id. They provide the active exchange of information between people, information on these functions is interesting, and easily discussed. They tend to desire self-development.
• Non-verbal (working, cooperative) functions belong to the blocks of super-ego and id. Aspects of these functions are not negotiable, prefers mutual affair. Activity is limited to immediate needs and demands of society.

• Evaluation functions - inert mental ring functions and contact functions of vital ring. Through them the score is a man people (mental inert), and the expectation of evaluation itself from others (vital contact) (?). And these estimates are slightly susceptible to change.
• Situational functions - contact functions of the mental ring and inert of the vital ring. These functions, by contrast, are characterized by adjustment to the current situation, and avoidance of grade other (?). In contrast, estimates put only specific actions.

• Exterior (continued) - accepting functions of the mental ring and producing functions of the vital ring. Functions that contain aspects of one color, black or white for extroverts and introverts respectively. Their primary characteristic is to consider relevant aspects of the invariable essence of the world, and strive to leave it in the form in which it is. External changes are perceived as inevitable but unusual.
• Interior (variable) - producing functions of the mental ring and accepting of the vital ring. These functions tend to see aspects of their elements which should be changed in the first place. They are either actively influencing the world or passively expecting changes in it.

The dimensionality of the functions of the Model A
The notion of dimensionality of functions was introduced by Boukalov in 1989 by analogy with the dimension of functions in mathematics, then this concept was used by Yermak, Vladimir Davidovich. According to him, the manifestations of the functions of model A may be adequate to experience, norms, situations and time.

1 - Ex (Eng. Experience) All functions can accumulate and use your own experience. Functions owning only experience (pain, suggestive) often are inadequate to the situation, if they don't know it from experience. Vera Novikova introduced the concept of mode of perception of information. Perception of information on these functions is in the mode of the past. Reaction functions are often inadequate to the situation, understanding of the situation comes later, often a long time when the relevance is lost.
2 - Nr (Eng. Norm) Norms possess all functions except pain and suggestive. Use rules - social rules (etiquette), rules, laws, strange experience. Measure rule determines susceptibility to function just as valid in other situations. Novikov mode of perception - a static present. The reaction on the current situation, without calculating the possible consequences.
3 - St (Eng. Situation) Situation possess all the strong features. They are able to develop new solutions to effectively use the exceptions to the rules, generalize patterns - to generate new knowledge and experience. Novikov mode of perception - the dynamic present. Actions on the situation in the light of trends and possible developments.
4 - Tm. (Eng. Time) Time belongs only to program and background functions. The reaction is linked to time: reaction to a similar situation in a different time may have been different, estimates vary. Novikov mode of perception - the future. Prediction of the situation, action to forestall, for the future, ability to think in a virtual time scale.

Signs of functions of model A
The concept of sign functions is widely used by Yermak, although Victor Gulenko introduced them. Yermak defines signs as "quality", "scale" "orientation" and "distance" of functions.
Signs of the functions define the following four properties of functions:
1. Quality

• "+" Maximizing the positive. Competence only in the field of positive properties. Avoidance, fear of negative.
• "-" Priority to the care of the negative. Competence in the field of positive and negative.

2. Magnitude

• "+" Close Up, locality, the detail in the limited area of competence.
• "-" The general plan, globality, universality.

3. Orientation

• "+" Inside, in the area of responsibility. Protecting yours.
• "-" Out, capturing new influences.

4. Distance

• "+" A close psychological distance.

Mental Ring
Mental ring contains the functions responsible for social activity. The work of these functions are well understood.

Ego block
Also called a creative block, or block "know", or "adult" block. On this block remains the most social activity, a strong unit, so people in its operation believe that it is ready to defend their views and interests. This is the block on which the person meets the needs of society.
Functions:

• 1st: a program - mental strong acceptance;
• 2nd: creative - mental strong productive.

Super-ego block
Otherwise: unit of social control, the unit "must." Weak block, through it social environment presents their demands to the individual, who is forced to comply with these requirements. Since the functions are of perceived weakness, the person attaches great importance to the development, filling it.
Functions:

• 3rd: role - mental weak acceptance;
• 4th: pain - mental weak productive.

Vital ring
Vital ring consists of the functions responsible for the individual needs of man. They appear usually unconsciously.

Super-id block
It's also called a block of individual activity, block "want". Through this block people present their demands to society. Block is weak and unconscious, so it can be easily manipulated by others. An individual can actively exercise activities, but it's complex and takes long. The unit also lends itself to filling, so the part may look quite strong.
Functions:

• 5th: suggestive - vital weak acceptance;
• 6th: activation - vital weak productive.

Id block
... or the individual unit of control, block "can". Also meets the needs of the individual, but such that it can provide itself, as a relatively strong unit. Individual can show activity in this block for quite long, and usually in silence and alone, without seeking to exchange information.
Functions:

• 7th: observation - vital an acceptance;
• 8th: background - the vital strong productive.

Completing the Model A

Aspects
Model A is filled with eight aspects of the information metabolism:
1. internal static body - black intuition, intuition of opportunities;
2. external static body - black sensing, volitional sensing;
3. external dynamics of the body - black logic, business logic;
4. internal dynamics of the body - black ethics, ethics of emotions;
5. internal dynamics of the field - white intuition, the intuition of time;
6. external dynamics of the field - white sensing, sensing sensations; (?)
7. external static field - white logic, the structural logic;
8. internal static field - white ethics, ethics of relations.

Principles of Model A
1. The principle of displacement. Functions that differ only on grounds of vitality, mentality contain aspects that differ only in sign of the body-field. (Function in the mental ring replaces a similar function with a different color in the vital)
2. Principle of additions. Functions that differ only in sign of accepting-producing, complement each other. (perceiving, who judge) (?)
3. The principle of uniformity. Functions that differ only by strength, differ only on the basis of form-content aspects. (?)

The order of the functions of the model A is a consensus among socionists. To some extent, the standard is described in the works of Augustinavichiute diagram showing the transfer of information on the rings (the mental and vital) consecutively in the order 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 1 and 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 5. Accordingly, the main entry point for incoming information are role-playing and suggestive functions, exit points - creative and background, that is, information exchange with the outside world "meets" all the contact function.
