    Default GORDON BROWN RESIGNS

This is brilliant news. It means Lib Dems and Labour are now entering into formal talks, which means Cameron and his band of Thatcherites is truly fucked.

I really couldn't imagine Lib Dem forming a coalition with Tory, but then a coalition with labour is still a minority party, afaik even the traditional parties that ally with labour still wouldn't make it overall. Dunno what's gonna happen.

Maybe they'll still end up reaching a deal with conservative after all, afaik Liberals were secretly having talks with labour over weekend too, so dunno.

Ezra, I seriously want you to read that book. It's not just an idle suggestion, I want you to actually buy and read it. I swear to god it will clear up so many of your misconceptions about economics and politics.

In fact I'm so certain that it will help you that if, after you've read it, you think it was a waste of money, I will actually reimburse you the cost of the book plus shipping costs via paypal.

The people should just bust into parliament and run the show. Off with the Queen's heads.

The Liberal Dems are apparently so angry with Tony Blair (thanks to Iraq!) that they are determined to destroy Labour for what they think it represents: acquiescence to foreign hegemony. They actually want to merge the two parties, but under the condition that the Labour side submit to the Liberal Dem philosophy of governance. It's the social progressives and liberals taking back the Left from the anti-feudalists. Personally I think they should divest at least some of the prime minister's duties to the president. I don't see the reason why there cannot be separate offices for the head of state and head of government, with neither obligated to the other.

I know nothing about labour's policies. But they brutally invaded and subjugated Iraq, which makes them enemies. And enemies deserve no sympathy.

Yes, because Napoleon wouldn't step in to assume power in such a scenario.

Napoleon is my hero. EPs (particularly Ti creatives) know how to bend ideology to their needs. We're the best at exploiting opportunities.

I think Napoleon was LIE, but that's not relevant.

What is relevant is that Napoleon was a despot who came to power amidst the political anarchy of the French Revolution, and who sent all of Europe into a series of devastating military disasters.

If you're going to revolt, you ought to follow the advice of Edmund Burke and do so only if with the idea of creating a strong society and a stable government.

France was strong under Napoleon, who led them to one victory after another. And he was supreme authority as emperor so it was stable.

We don't have a president. The head of state is the Queen and that's unlikeley to change anytime soon.

Why not? Suicide maybe the most justified course of action, even if it's almost as unjustified as everything else.

And Cameron becomes the new prime minister.

There is a question of how this happened, whether the Liberal Dems agreed to caucus with Cameron or not. I suspect the Liberal Dems are being used, and that they will be discarded within a few months. Cameron smells blood.

If the Queen made it happen herself, it will probably be the beginning of the end of her power in that regard.
