No, I was too busy being depressed that I'd just come back from Cuba and then had to devote my attention to a plethora of papers and exams instead of sunshine, ocean and all the alcohol I wanted.

Interestingly enough, we were there visiting a Cuban family friend and because we didn't like the fact that they weren't allowed into the resort, my family and another we were there with pitched in to pay for 9 of them (5 of them aforementioned children) to come in with us for a day. Yeah, not blind to those issues, believe it or not.

EDIT: Ack, I feel like that sounds pretty scathing. It just hits a sore spot when someone seems to make judgements about you when they don't know anything about it. One of the saddest things I've experienced was being with them when they had their bracelets cut off and the oldest kissed his and said in spanish "Now I'm Cuban again." While I would love to be able to go back and enjoy the luxuries again, it doesn't mean I'm ignorant of the shit that goes on there.

i like the username ephemeros much better though. it was a cool name and i think he should go back to it.
