Well, I'm not one, but it makes perfect sense. To my mind, Si is about maintaining homeostasis. Once you start smoking, you need to keep smoking to maintain homeostasis. Sure, it's kinda gross, but say you started just because of social pressure or whatever, well, once you've started you feel more gross when you haven't had a cigarette, right? It's a compromise homeostasis, but homeostasis nonetheless.
Not a rule, just a trend.

IEI. Probably Fe subtype. Pretty sure I'm E4, sexual instinctual type, fairly confident that I'm a 3 wing now, so: IEI-Fe E4w3 sx/so. Considering 3w4 now, but pretty sure that 4 fits the best.

    Yes 'a ma'am that's pretty music...

I am grateful for the mystery of the soul, because without it, there could be no contemplation, except of the mysteries of divinity, which are far more dangerous to get wrong.

finally breaking down and smoking that cigarette after not having one in awhile is one of the best feelings in the world. It only gets better the longer you try to not do it.

    also, it's an addiction.

Smoking is mostly gross to non-smokers, not so much to smokers.

my dad is a doctor, was a surgeon for many years before he finally got too old to handle it. anyhow, the whole time basically he smoked. like two packs a day. only quit about 10 years ago.

this isn't that weird. Si valuers can smoke cigarettes, too.

Yeah, but OP was trying to express that it was some sort of taboo for Si-valuing types. As one post clarified earlier, smoking triggers homeostasis for a lot of people because of it's soothing/relaxing effects (related to Si).

Anybody can smoke it's an addiction. You can still value Si and your health and still smoke, while acknowledging that it's bad for you.. it's not easily controllable for a lot of people. Myself I would never habitually smoke cigarettes (I have several times before) but I never liked the taste.

I smoke 20+ cigarettes a day for 19 years now. I love smoking. I thought about it and so far as things go, I dont want to quit - and it would be emotionally very hard. Good news is, I recently been to the pneumologist (is this the right name?) for some summer heat breathing issues at the gym and the doctor said, based on the given tests, my lungs appear to be unaffected by my habit. She justified this by the fact that there are "rare cases" of people who can smoke in their 80s with no issue - about her words. The best news I received in ages! She will give me the final verdict on Monday, after reading my x-ray.

You can indeed smoke and be an Si valuer, you'd be restoring your body's physical homeostasis whenever you smoke, because your body has become accustomed to it. Si is about physical balance, and if your body is used to a certain condition, whether that be smoking, drinking, or having sex all day, then that's what you need to keep it in balance, regardless of how unhealthy it actually is. The most important requirement for an Si valuer is in fact matching pace (Ni) with the stimuli.

I used to smoke, but i could also feel how much even one cigarette changed my body. i ended up stopping b/c the instant gratification wasn't worth the longterm discomfort.
