    Default family tree

Is there a connection between the types of your ancestors and your own type? Are there any studies concerning this question?

If that is not the case I'd like to know your family trees to see if we can make out a tendency...

    INTj.................ISFp................ESTj..... ......................INFj
    ..|.....................|.....................|... ............................|
    ..|.....................|.....................|... ............................|
    ..-- ESFj -- ISTj --......................-- ENFj -- INFj -- INTp--
    ..................|............................... ..|..............................
    ..................|............................... ..|..............................
    ..................---- INTj ------ INTp ----...............................

    How to read that:
My INTj-grandfather and my ISFp-grandmother got my ESFj-aunt and my ISTj-father. My ESTj-grandfather and my INFj-grandmother got my ENFj-mother, my INFj-aunt and my INTp-uncle. I am INTj, my brother is INTp.

    Is there a tendency?
It is obvious that dichotomies are not handed down directly: If your parents are both sensory it doesn't mean you are sensory, too.

i've thought about this before. i can't do a chart like che but here's the maternal side first:

    grandmother: istj or intj
    grandfather: isfp
    my mom: estj, only child

    father's side:
    grandfather: entp
    grandmother: isfj
    my aunt: infp
    my other aunt: estj
my other aunt: ?? she disconnected from the family
    my dad: infj

    my sibs:
    brother: intj
    brother: enfp
    me: entp

    my ex: estp
    his wife: infp

    kids:
    girl 1: esfj
    girl 2: entp

    new boyfriend: infp

    it's alpha-beta-ing. lol

my father says his mother was isfj but i am not sure about that. she died when i was five. everybody hated my father's father. i knew him pretty well. he was pretty obnoxious. but funny. once, when he was 90 and his kids wanted to put him in a nursing home, he argued with them outside on the street, pretended he had a heart attack or something, and layed down on the street. when the ambulance got there, he got up and walked away. LOL i guess it was pretty mortifying for those who were there. but anyway my father thought his father treated his mother badly.

With all the IxTx, xSxj and so on I can't work.

I wanted to count the answers and get results like "80% of the people who have 2 introverted parents are introverted" or something like that. But it's impossible to discocver a tendency this way because the typings are not reliable.

I will start a new thread with a poll...

    Mom-IEE
    Mom's Mom-ESE* (I know, everyone's grandmother is ESE)
    Mom's Dad-no idea
Mom's Sister-SEE (possibly SLE, probably SEE)
    Her Husband-ESI
    Her Daughter-ESE
    Her Son-ESI
    Mom's Brother 1-Gamma SF*
    His Daughter-LSI
    Mom's Brother 2-ILE*
    Mom's Brother 3-SLI*
    Dad-LII
    Dad's Dad-IEI*
    Dad's Mom-EII*
    Dad's Sister 1-Gamma NT
Dad's Sister 2-Something Delta, probably SLI
    Stepmom-LSE
    Me-IEI
    Brother-SEE

I put asterisks next to the ones I'm not as sure of.

    EDIT:
Also, I don't think type is really hereditary. I think type is about fundamental psychological choices you make during infancy and maybe even in the womb. You find that certain ways of working with the world are successful/pleasurable and others are unsuccessful/painful. Of course, certain traits that *are* genetically based can influence how successful or unsuccessful certain strategies are. Of course, the obvious opposition to this theory is the fact that parents and children often have conflicting types, so I don't really know...
Not a rule, just a trend.

IEI. Probably Fe subtype. Pretty sure I'm E4, sexual instinctual type, fairly confident that I'm a 3 wing now, so: IEI-Fe E4w3 sx/so. Considering 3w4 now, but pretty sure that 4 fits the best.

    Yes 'a ma'am that's pretty music...

I am grateful for the mystery of the soul, because without it, there could be no contemplation, except of the mysteries of divinity, which are far more dangerous to get wrong.

This is going nowhere. Any correlations you find will be erroneous.

^Oh, Ni... he's right, of course, but it was a fun exercise to type family members.

    yeah really.

socionics is not genetic then. weird. but your type seems to be so "wired in". how do we explain it.

    Reincarnation?

I think that nature makes use of a kind of random generator! In the stone age the groups of Homo Sapiens were very small. If intuitive parents had only intuitive children e.g. it might happen that there are only intuitive people after some generations and the group woul perish. A kind of random generator seems to be necessary.

It is interesting that the type distribution probably worked well in the stone age but is a big problem of today. In the stone age more sensory than intuitive people were required, of course. Today in the information age we would need more intuitive people - but there are still more sensory people. Evolution works slowly...

you're on to something. random generator. i like that.

i've thought the same thing about sensors...being alot of them in the way back. now we're headed toward the matrix...not sure that's a good thing. where do you think we're headed, then, theoretically?
