Default Gregory Hill aka Malaclypse The Younger

Does anyone know about this guy? He wrote (or co-wrote, I can't remember off hand) the Principia Discordia and was the founder of Discordianism

Malaclypse the Younger - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Principia Discordia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Discordianism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Myth of Starbuck (The Myth of Ichabod)

Anyway I think it's brilliant. I kind of think ILE is most likely based on the book, especially as the only people I know who are into it are all self typed ILE's.

Anyone else know about it, or have thoughts on this?

Discordianism is a modern religion centered on the idea that chaos is all that there is, and that disorder and order, the former considered a concept distinct from chaos, are both illusions

Correlating this with socionics, chaos is considered the variant element which all information has in common. Order and disorder correlate respectively with linear and parallel process. Linear process is associated with Ip/Ej temperament, parallel process with Ep/Ij.
But I think it's overstepping things to say linear and parallel process are illusions. In that case, everything is an illusion. If everything is an illusion, then what is real? Not chaos then. Chaos is both order and disorder. Also, if both are considered illusions, remember both order and disorder give way to one another.. this sets up the other as reality underlying the illusion, since the word illusion implies the existence of reality. So really.. the statement is contradictory and impossible. Chaos, as the authors define it, has to consist of both order and disorder. Better to simply say that and not undermine the entire thing by calling it an illusion.
In summary the idea has some level of legitimacy.. which is exaggerated in its originality, but then it's also partially new age pseudo intellectual trash.

This is why I love it. Very, very trashy.

The Pentabarf is the doctrine of Discordianism. It is as follows:

There is no Goddess but Goddess and She is Your Goddess. There is no Erisian Movement but The Erisian Movement and it is The Erisian Movement. And every Golden Apple Corps is the beloved home of a Golden Worm.
A Discordian Shall Always use the Official Discordian Document Numbering System.
A Discordian is required to, the first Friday after his illumination, Go Off Alone & Partake Joyously of a Hot Dog; this Devotive Ceremony to Remonstrate against the popular Paganisms of the Day: of Roman Catholic Christendom (no meat on Friday), of Judaism (no meat of Pork), of Hindic Peoples (no meat of Beef), of Buddhists (no meat of animal), and of Discordians (no Hot Dog Buns).
A Discordian shall Partake of No Hot Dog Buns, for Such was the Solace of Our Goddess when She was Confronted with The Original Snub.
A Discordian is Prohibited from Believing What he reads.
The Pentabarf is the most fundamental of all Discordian catma. ("Catma" is a general term for Discordian teachings, sayings, quotations, explanations, jokes and illustrations, as distinguished from Discordian "dogma", which consists of certain specific passages from The Honest Book of Truth, cited in Principia.)

"There is no Goddess but Goddess and She is Your Goddess" is probably a spoof of the Islamic statement of faith: "There is no God but Allah, and Mohammed is Allah's prophet."

The 5th law mirrors both the nature of Taoist sayings ("the Tao that can be spoken of is not the true Tao"[20]) and Zen koans ("If you meet the Buddha on your path, kill him"[21]). It is also similar to the end of Wittgenstein's Tractatus (where he essentially states that if his thesis is meaningful then it is worthless[22]), the Epimendes paradox ("All Cretans are liars."), and several other paradoxes.
