Isn't there that thing where you laugh because you don't want whatever you're seeing happen to someone else happen to you? Equally, you can laugh to protect yourself from something emotionally.
Anyway, I'm too squeamish to really find something with that much gore funny. Less bloody slapstick I find funny, and of course a healthy dose of gore can add to a given action experience.
