    Default Cure my type doubts

'type me' threads are better than introduction threads

I've been fairly certain of my type for some time, but recently I've had some doubts, so now I turn to the internet for help. I'm not completely sure what kind of info I should put down so I'll just ramble a little about myself:

Currently a student of Japanese in the hopes of becoming a translator.
A producer of music, originally considered as a career but now more of a hobby.
Pretty much a homebody, but will jump at the opportunity to hang out with friends.
Not much of a reader, at least in the sense of literature. If the subject interests me however, I won't stop reading about it.
Best high school subjects were mathematics and music, although music is more of an elective so I don't weigh it as much; worst was/is history.
    Plays the drums.
Great fan of music video games. Consequently, holds great disdain for most American music video games. "If it's not in an arcade, it's not worth playing".
Very averse to argumentation; somewhat averse to criticism, much prefer to critique myself than have others do it for me.
Tend to hold high standards for myself and get upset when said standards are not met.
Call myself a 'practicing atheist', basically agnosticism but without any sort of 'benefit of the doubt' that I tend to associate to agnosticism.
Enjoy making things, whether it be music, origami, papercraft (basically origami with scissors and glue), K-Nex models, etc
Played Magic the Gathering, but ended up stopping due to my avid dislike of losing.
Have several GBs of furry art on my hard drive, all arranged by species and artist (fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck)
Often have doubts that I am living up to my full potential
My sense of humor mainly comprises of sarcasm and witticisms
Sometimes have morbid 'what if' thoughts that I am unable to shake for some time, especially at night
Sometimes, not very often though, cannot distinguish a dream from reality
Tend to have difficulty relaxing, especially when trying to sleep

If more information is requested, I will provide.

edit: don't know what the Japanese pull is for you, but like all the guys I knew in Japanese class were alphas. I miss Japanese class. Drunk Alpha: "My hands feel like blocks!" lmao

Basically, but it sounds much more ornate when described in the manner above.

My attraction to Japanese is really just the sound and construct of the language. Culture, not so much.

I guess I'll edit the first post with other information about me. I assume this isn't the place for VI, but if pictures are wanted I have some at the ready.

This is a $400 camera, if I dropped it I'd never forgive myself.

If it helps at all, I've considered myself to be EII for some time, but recently I've been doubting this title and have been thinking ILI instead.

The latter I guess. I have a bit of trouble fully grasping the question so you may want to rephrase it.

Well I was just making fun of myself, but if you'd like a more eloquent version of what I said, look no further...

    User Strrrng/Nick (the fucker) wrote:

Mimosa's analogy to a puzzle in a recent thread caused me to use her metaphor to expand on what Ni/Se and Si/Ne actually are/do. The understanding of them seems to be heavily distorted in the socionics community, and explanations are either too simplistic or too abstract. The puzzle analogy, however, seems to elucidate the reality of them very nicely. So, consider a puzzle. Each of these functional feedback loops solve it in a very different way; the methods which they utilize are completely diametrical to one another. Ni/Se sees the puzzle in itself; the pieces are simply discrete physical entities with ostensible properties. Ni tracks the abstract connections between these entities, and eventually hones in on the central process. There is no premise, no deduction; it is merely a fluid synthesis that produces an awareness of the essential theme governing how the pieces fit together. Thus, Ni works backwards, extrapolating patterns from the conclusion. Si/Ne, on the other hand, sees the pieces of the puzzle as discrete entities carrying latent, abstract properties. It examines them, noticing which properties are similar to which, continually dividing and rearranging the pieces as new patterns emerge. Si connects the pieces within a physical field. To Si/Ne, there is no "essential" process; the connection is in the physical interactions. Si provides an externally defined context for Ne to permutate from (likewise, Ni provides a context for Se to gauge objects from; it is just self-contained). Ne/Si may find multiple solutions to the puzzle, by rearranging the pieces in different ways, based on different combinations of abstractions it sees. Ni/Se sees this as superfluous, because no matter how you arrange the pieces based on whatever properties they may or may not have, the implicit pattern generating the answer is still the same. Si/Ne sees this as arbitrary and limiting, as the only abstractions that exist are within the objects, not in the process that connects them. In this way, it is easy to see how vastly different and irreconcilable Si/Ne and Ni/Se are, in terms of cognitive styles, and what they actually do.

That helped me to figure out my type...

As for perfectionism: when it comes to skills, like video games or cooking, I don't expect myself to be perfect right off the bat, but I expect myself to improve regularly. Academically, I expect myself to exceed requirements, and for said extra work to be reflected in my grades. When expectations for skills aren't met, I both get angrier and feel a stronger need to do better; kind of a visious cycle I guess. If I don't do as well as I know I could in school, I tend to feel very dejected and believe that I'm no good at anything. I almost feel as if I'm performing for the teacher, and if I don't do well for him/her then I am letting him/her down.

As for 'about myself' and 'how I live', I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to say. Could you be more specific?

Well I don't think I have Se in my ego, as I neither respond well to force or exertion of power nor feel confident in exerting my own in most situations. That's more of something that my dad would do, and I'm not particularly fond of him.

Unless I'm completely off on what Se is.

Well I don't have a lot of information to work with on your personality that you have given, however I wouldn't say that ISTjs are keen on exerting force or keen on people who do that. I would say that because of Se, ISTjs are usually reactive and aware personalities, that do not necessarily have a strong internal ambition to exert power, as many have little desire to. A Ti dominant type would however be very keen on perfectionism and gradually correcting himself. I would like to keep reading on to get more information about you, but I still don't think ISTj is a bad impression at this point. INTj is also a smaller possibility.

Well I appreciate your input, and from what I can tell it seems to make sense. I'm not too sure what else I should say though regarding myself, but if you have other questions I'd be glad to answer for the sake of self-contemplation.

Also, is there a real difference between LSI high standards and EII high standards? I've read a lot that INFjs are quite perfectionists, and I seem to fit the bill in that regard.

There is no cure for uncertainty. Learn to live with it.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,

Yes you will, don't worry the embarassment will only hurt for a while before it goes away.

My question is this..... I don't understand Furries..... I don't HATE them, hate is too strong a word....... but I don't "GET" them, get is the perfect word

Why do people get off on animorphic beings rather than on women.

To me its like two situations are laid before you.....

    Situation 1 --

(except lets pretend the guy isn't in a fursuit but its a real animorphic being -- which doesn't exist, but whatever.... for the sake of argument)

    Situation 2 --

The same but with an attrative woman

Now how is it people fantasize about the first situation happening rather than the second.... thats what I don't get.... I would understand it if you were somehow forbidden from fantasizing about the second situation.... but your not..... and thats what confuses me

Actually Fi isn't characterized as perfectionism as much as it is a strongly idealistic mindset towards personal ethical values, led by an internal visionary passion. You don't seem like an Fi type from what you have been telling me. Ti is much more of how you described, having high standards for skills and performance, and gradually improving to perfectionism, especially of the ISTj because of the need for gradual development and change to current reputation, in order to make an impact, influenced by one's individualistic thought and discipline. It is a large part of the ISTj's sense of being, one's self-consciousness and self-government, and can be rather contemplative. I don't know where you are reading that Fi fits you, maybe from some people here? Do you care to share why you think it fits? because it doesn't seem like it so far.

don't let yourself be overly confused. you are EII, and you have certain qualities of ILI. That is all that needs to be said. LSI is no, ignore.
