    Default WTF is this??

Yo. This forum is really confusing. Can someone tell me what it's really all about?

The basic theme is a theory called Socionics. The premise of Socionics is that for every situation/thing, there are 8 different perspectives from which it can be viewed. Different people view those perspectives in different ways. There are 16 different types based on the ways that they view those perspectives.

We each value the information from 4 of those perspectives more than the other 4, and those values divide us into groups called quadras. There are 4 quadras and 4 types per quadra. The quadras are Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta.

This forum is basically a community of people who like to talk about themselves, argue with people, and/or intellectually masturbate. It can be pretty hostile at times, largely because we're so aware of our differing values. Overall though, unless you're... not quite right in the head... or extremely introverted, you're quite likely to make some friends here if you hang around.

Another common theme here is arguing about people's types. People have their sense of who they are staked on their understanding of Socionics, so they can take it quite personally if people try to tell them (or another person) that they're not the type they think they are.

There are a few subforums for Socionics theories that differ from the most popular/traditional view of it as well as other typology theories. Anything goes is a good place to get to know the community and just screw around.

A significant portion of the conversations here also revolve around intertype relations. Each type has a specific intertype relation with each other type, and there are descriptions of those how those relations generally tend to play out.

Do you know what type you are? If you don't but would like to, try posting a topic about yourself in the "What's my type" subforum. If you're comfortable posting pics or videos of yourself, those can be useful in helping people type you, too.

Welcome. But I must warn you, this place can be pretty addictive.

it's all a cover for an international kiddy porn ring. you have to ask a mod or admin to be able to browse those subforums though.

Welcome to Socionics! Here get relativistic in ways that are too well-defined for traditional relativists, and stand firm on things that no one is too sure about.

I looked over those "quadra" sections, and I don't see anything that explains what the differences are between each one.

In a nutshell, each quadra values two rational and two irrational information elements. (Or one irrational axis and one rational axis.)

    Alpha: Fe/Ti and Ne/Si
    Beta: Fe/Ti and Se/Ni
    Gamma: Te/Fi and Se/Ni
    Delta: Te/Fi and Ne/Si

Each quadra has one type from each temperament (EJ, IJ, EP, IP) and two dual pairs (EJ/IJ and EP/IP).

It's an online role-playing soap opera. It uses some obscure, unverifiable psychological theory to lure more people into the community. Tune in next time for when Ezra and discojoe have sex behind joy's back.
It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarrelled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor, they are all equal now.

That's weird. I could've sworn I posted another message in this thread after I got my birthday email. But maybe I just hit "preview" and never submitted it.

Man, I am truly out of it sometimes.

So, anyway, all I said was that I had forgotten about this forum until I got that email telling me happy birthday. So, how's it going?

Here is a great topic for this.... http://www.the16types.info/vbulletin...n-quadras.html

you may have to filter some of the info that is more comedic than factual, but skimming through that topic will give you a good "sense" of the quadras
