    Default Phrases

I know this guy that uses a few phrases in normal conversation.

    "That isn't going ............. in a hurry."

What Functions is he talking with. what Types would be inclined to say something like this.

I don't think it's necessarily type related. I have an SEI friend who uses quips and often-used phrases all the time. Things like "sometimes there can be too much honesty" and "that must have been a load off your shoulders". Things that sound... unoriginal or something. Like he can't come up with his own metaphors or philosophies without borrowing these phrases. I dunno. But I doubt it's a type thing.

I know an ESE who uses annoying terminology, sometimes popular phrases and sometimes stuff he made up. Example: calling a pocket pc "the little guy" EVERY SINGLE TIME.

I used to know this guy who would use little phrases ALL THE TIME. The most common was, "Just between you, me, and the fencepost . . ." ALL THE TIME. Sometimes a conversation with him was basically a string of little phrases he liked to use with no actual point. It was frustrating.

Don't know if it's type related though. Just very annoying. Maybe the specific phrases are type related. Why knows.

I use little phrases all the time, even that same 'little guy/girl' thing for small objects or animals. Sometimes it annoys me too!

I use phrases sometimes too. I'm guessing most - if not all - people use them to some extent or another. It's a question of frequency. More frequent = more annoying.

If you were to type this phrase though.

    "That isn't going ............. in a hurry."

What functions would you say it uses.

Are there other words in the "......." part? Or is it said just like that? Because that doesn't make any sense to me. Can you explain the context?

The Idea is to fill in the blanks. The first and the last part are always the same.

That isn't going anywhere in a hurry.
That isn't going to come out in a hurry.

I've known an ILI who used inane platitudes in lieu of actual emotional expression. I would reveal my feelings and he'd just reply with, "There are more fish in the sea" or "Every cloud has a silver lining" and shit like that. It pissed me off no end.

My IEI friend will reuse a phrase or a moderately difficult word over a short period, it's as if he's taken a liking to the phrase and is determined to bandy it about as much as he can before he's disenchanted.
