Default Which is the most arrogant type

Some types can be clearly excluded IMO, like the ISFp, INTj, ISTj, INFp, ESTj.

But there are probably some types who are notorious of being (called) arrogant.

Which ones stand out the most, according to you?

(At my new job there is a SEE who is extremely haughty that it makes me feel ashamed when I think about that she is supposed to be my best match).

Well, low IQ people call you "arrogant" when your ability shines. That's life

@Jarno: I do think any type is capable of arrogance. No type should be excluded from that.

I don't know anything about your IQ level, but this post is an example of what I'd consider arrogance.

    It implies 3 arrogant things:
-Your ability "shines" higher than others around you
-The only reason these others accuse you of arrogance, is because their IQ is low (not because there is anything wrong with you)
-You are able to judge other's IQ levels (that alone is arrogant)
-"That's life" implying you are not able to adapt your own behavior to others (as you are too brilliant to change it or act as a "commoner" with a lower IQ level)

Yeah, OP must know some really nice LSEs to want to rule them out.

With a few exceptions (IPs) I think a type's perceived arrogance depends on your own position in the socion.

Whaaa? You've never met an arrogant LSI or LSE?

Anyway, I strongly disagree with this kind of premise. Arrogance is NOT under the jurisdiction of socionics. Arrogance can be displayed via the prism of socionics types, but no type is inherently "arrogant". I strongly, strongly disagree that a type can be "excluded", or included. (Even further, there are many different kinds of and manifestations of/into arrogance.)

I would think that any type is capable of arrogance, but type would influence what exactly it is that a person is arrogant about. An LII might be arrogant about his amazing and unparalleled powers of logic, for example, while an ESTj might be arrogant about his snowboarding ability, or an ENFp his ability to understand people.

IME, it's not necessary to have "shining abilities". Slightly above average T-focused intelligence is enough for many idiots - especially female ones - to think "arrogance".

This phenomenon is most visible in countries and cultures where everyone is supposed to be "equal" in a socialist sense, I think.

Arrogance probably has more to do with trying to exert one's ego functions. Children or teens who may not have received much praise by their parents for their ego functions may be discovering their strengths and seeking praise in their ego functions from others in the fashion of archaic narcissism.

Which is the most arrogant type?

Given that arrogance is simply unwarranted pride, the 16 types can help us determine if an individual is justified in the pride exhibited.

I would suggest that arrogance has more in common with winning, or defeating an opponent (winning an argument) rather than being an attempt at accurate self-reflection. Therefore it follows that the consistently least arrogant are those types disposed to accurate self-reflection, while the consistently most arrogant are those disposed to defeating the enemy.
    LII
that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

Socionically, I suppose arrogance is most likely to evolve round a threat/challenge/use of ones dominant function. Perhaps arrogance is viewed when the use of that function goes "awry", or even if it goes through a period of not being challenged, allowing it to unfairly assert itself (thereby laying the basis to re-inforce it's own assumptions without external perspective in order to re-adapt) but the type will be more than prepared to stand by it nonetheless, given it's the function at their core of being.

I think this is related to relationship more than type. I find LSIs to be arrogant - they just come off that way to me. My dad thinks my SLI uncle and my husband are arrogant - I asked him why and he said they seem to sure of themselves. It's how they come off to him. My LIE mom kind of agrees about my husband. Anyway, if someone is strong and confident in those things in which you are weakest and least confident, that person will appear arrogant to you.

Well, I don't think Michael Jordan or some Kung Fu master, for instance, are arrogant, but I know I am not as good as them when it comes to the "physical world". So, unhealthy people label worthy people as arrogant, instead of looking up to them and working to shorten the gap.

I'm not talking about good at or bad at ANYTHING at all - like sports and such. I'm talking about within Socionics - the first and second function and the third and fourth functions. If someone is confident and strong at your fourth function, you might very well find that person to be arrogant.

Yes, but "Gullwing" is a word. "Gillywing" is just retarded.

Arrogance has nothing to do with ability. There are a lot of incredibly talented and intelligent people who are also decent and sometimes downright humble and would never think about putting anyone down because they aren't as good at something. There are also a lot of arrogant people who aren't anywhere close to as good as they they think they are.

Types I think can tend towards arrogance:
    EIE
    SLE
    ILI
    ESE

EDIT: This should be a poll.

Arrogance is often just a perception; actually, it is a perception from the outside, because there's no objective way to define when somebody is arrogant. That's why I think there's a connection between arrogance and ability.

wow. I would be so offended if someone told me that about my husband (I'm not married, but if I was). Even if they thought that, probably should have kept it to themselves.
    Hi! I'm an ENFP. :-)

Yah, I would have to go with LSI too. My father is also an LSI who passes judgment without really knowing the person. It also applies to information, he will believe what he wants and reject anything else.

I am with jewels on this, I don't know if I could bite my tongue if my father said that.
Sometimes I get the feeling that LSI's will say such things just to get from people, whether it be positive or negative
