    Default Experiment

Have someone close to you describe you in a list of character and personality traits, and post it here for typing.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

A person aware of socionics, or a person who doesn't know anything about socionics?

And probably a person you know the type of, as their answers might be skewed because of that.

someone who knows me pretty well, not a socionics person.

    2:29 PM ok
2:31 PM "reserved", a bit shy, intelligent, too critical of self, adaptable..
    2:31 PM um
2:31 PM i'll have to think for a minute
those were the ones i could think of off the top of my head mostly
2:36 PM cultured, diverse, yet strongly defined interests
2:36 PM you definitely know what interests you
    2:36 PM basically
2:36 PM but it intersects with the cultural/language/diverse stuff
2:38 PM a bit quick to criticize/defend/argue, but overall a generally pleasant personality
sometimes coming off as a bit depressed, but it's not something that is bothersome or anything (as in, you don't generally dwell on those things that may be bothering you). if anything, it makes people (or me at least) want to help.. like my incessant attempts at the funny
    2:40 PM and my stories
    2:40 PM lol

edited to add: "thoughtful" "has difficulty trusting people"

    Someone who doesn't know Socionics.

And yeah, it would be preferable if you were confident of the person's type.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,

One of my friends (an SLI who knows Socionics) says: random, hyperactive, optimistic, emotional, imaginative. I only asked for five adjectives, though. Is that OK?

Adjectives alone are useless; without some context, they could mean anything.

A friend of mine was actually relating people I know to movie plots, or just plotlines in general. It was kind of neat, and no he doesn't know Socionics. He's probably an ST of some sort, perhaps a Beta ST.

    His of me, paraphrased, was:

"You're like the college nerd who goes there to learn, and then you meet the jock friend that gets you to open up and become a party kid. You're like half way between [a nerd and a partier]."

Basically, you replace "nerd" with "geek" and "jock" with "socialite" for better accuracy, and it's a very loose description, yet still applicable. I'm pretty sure he meant what I replaced in for his words, anyway, he just didn't think of better ones. He was using "subculture" words rather than Socionics words .

Also, a neighbour lady of mine, who I doubt knows Socionics, but is a school counselor told me earlier this year, "You're more of an analytical thinker--you like to take things apart and then rebuild them." I swear that is not made up at all, either. It was a bit of a shock for her to say something so near to a Wikisocion description.

Could you explain what you want then?

Those adjectives were in response to the question "Five adjectives you'd use to describe me?"

Ask for a brief description of you as a person: what traits stand out the most, noteworthy behaviors, etc. Maria's was the most like what I had in mind.

ESI mother (who is vaguely acquainted with socionics):

Witty (in terms of humor and being mentally quick), warm, easygoing (but not compliant), disorganized, noted difficulty with socializing, intelligent, tendency to become really focused (if otherwise scattered). Energy levels are variable, and I have a tendency to become "um, voluble" when excited. Excitable I guess was implied.

I think the words she used were "Alpha, but a bit more Delta".

And no, nobody who knows me well doesn't know socionics. Ftw.

    EDIT

Add that she added that she honestly has very little idea of who I actually am. Awesome

    From my LSI roommate:

George, you are a semi-ambitious slacker and a wonderful friend.

You want to have a great life and you want to do the work, however,
you are not willing to until you want to want to do the work. Many of
your problems are easily solved but you don’t want to do what’s needed
to solve them. You were proud of yourself and grateful to me when I
convinced you to stop smoking, but then you started again and claimed
you didn’t care and/or you won’t get cancer by smoking in moderation
when all evidence says you will. You were upset that you weren’t
having sex, but you had so many girls who were eager to sleep with
you. But you pointed out minor character flaws in them and used it as
justification to not have something as simple as a one night stand.

Now that you have someone to have regular sex with, you are again
pointing out minor faults with her and using them as reasons you
shouldn’t continue to do anything more with her and also to stop
sleeping with her. However, you are not willing to just call her up
and say “[Girl’s name] I don’t want to do anything but sleep with you,
    if that.”

You want to become a great author. You have an idea for a story. But
you don’t want to write if you aren’t in the mood. Often you claim
that your writing style will be hindered, so you will not simply type
keys on a keyboard to continue your story. Not only that, you waste
countless hours playing video games that have no purpose for you.
They do not give you ideas for your story. They do not teach you how
to fight. You’ve admitted that you have lost interest in them and
have more interest in writing, but you play constantly.

Despite all these flaws, you are the best friend a man could have.
You have no problem keeping or confiding secrets in those close to
you. I have told you things about me before I told my family simply
because I trust you more than I could and probably ever will trust
them. We have no problems going back and forth doing chores or
picking up a dinner bill if the other one’s short and we never keep
score or a tab because we know the other one will do it if we need it.

That’s you in a nut shell, George.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Ok, I'll resurrect this thread 'cause I finally got around to asking some people and 'cause I think it's a great idea.

Last night, I was with my two cousins, and my oldest cousin and I were drunk off of our asses. Both of them described me more or less like this:

"Awkward, shy, and reserved. When you want to learn something, you'll definitely go out and learn it, but you never finish it or anything. Opinionated, too."

I also asked them if I was the type of person who knows what he thinks and knows what his opinions are, and they both said, "yeah". This was sort of surprising to me, as my opinions about stuff, while I do talk about them (sort of emphatically, most of the time), are a lot of times half-complete and sort of ambiguous (while I don't really spend much time on forming opinions about things, they are there.) But I think I do see what they mean. While I have a much easier time rattling off my knowledge about things (which my youngest cousin will often probe me for), I can give advice pretty well, and my opinions tend to come out easily and fluidly only when I'm pissed off about something or backed into a corner, which in those cases comes out as endless bitching until my youngest cousin tells me to shut the fuck up, heh.

And this is what my youngest cousin said about me when I was drunk:

"You're not really that much different when you're sober, maybe you times two [I feel very comfortable around them anyway]. Loud and obnoxious, rambunctious, active, ADD on crack."

I don't really know what my oldest cousin's type is, but I think I can be pretty confident that my youngest cousin is Si-leading.

You are the first person that I know of from an internet forum that has the same first name as me. (For those who know Latin, I have third declension variant of her first declension name.)

And one of my friends(Alpha NT, lean towards ILE) described me the following way: You are just like [insert head of department at my tertiary education institution], you know something about just about everything and then when I think I have you beat on a certain topic you say something and I worry if I will ever know something you don't. Also, unlike most of the stand offish people/angry people/unpopular/arrogant/other similar descriptions here, you always hi or hello when passing someone you know in a hallway.

I am sure he has said other stuff, but I can't remember it at the moment.
