Wow... Excellent big-picture questions--and the format, (video) should prove very useful to ppl trying to learn details about the individual types.

Thanks JuJu, I hope the idea works out like how I envision If too many people post their videos, you might want to delete your post and reply later on with your video so people don't skip over it.

ETA: Don't feel obligated to make your video the way I did, I feel more comfortable with a general topic and improv, so I looked over the questions and just rambled what came to me. You can take the questions and go exactly by them if that makes you feel the most comfortable.

Also, as a general tip for watching videos, after you've watched the entire video, turn the sound off and watch the person talk. I think this gives clues to their type as well, it kinds makes it so you're focusing on them and their body language rather than trying to listen to what they are saying. I feel like it makes people slightly more real, like I could imagine passing them by in a bookstore and know how they would be talking. Try it out and see if it does anything for you!

So last night I worked up the nerve to do a video for this thread.
Unfortunately, it lasted nearly an hour.
So I split it up into two parts, Question 1 & Questions 2/4.
Question 1 came out to 30 minutes and 103mb (according to photobucket).
When I tried to upload it to photobucket, I received an error message saying that it had to be less than 100mb.
So I deleted a large chunck out of Question 1's answers.
Tried uploading again. But it wouldn't.
I looked at photobucket's video guidelines....they're 5min max. wtf??
And of course YouTube is 10min max.

So, I either have to do some serious cutting or redo the videos, neither of which sounds all that appealing to me. :frown:

Hey everyone, I'm really glad to see this discussion catch peoples' interest, and the more videos that come along with it. I had a video I was trying to upload last night, but the power went out in the middle of the night, and 3 of you posted your videos, so I'll make one tonight instead to answer more. All of the videos are great, I'm so glad!

For those discussing Allie's type, in the original post I asked if typing could be redirected to this thread, Video Discussions, as well as other off-topic conversation. I have this in place to keep the focus on the discussion and to keep the thread uncluttered in case an argument breaks out. This does not mean your educated opinions on the video poster's type is unwanted. I am deeply interested in your observations of the video itself and your opinions on the effectiveness of videos over the forum. If it continues, I'm going to ask Gilly or another mod to splice it out of this thread.

So I pose this question for those already discussing type, to be answered in Video Discussions: If these videos were all you had, what would you type these people? How would this contrast with your typing of them already, or your forum-based observations? Even better, make a video about it and post it here! Integrate it with the topic at hand so this doesn't become a type yelling contest.

Frustrating I've been having technical problems as well, it sucks because you worked hard. And for an hour! I really have to hear this Tom mentioned the solution, and this solution is extended to Isha and others who like to talk longer than 10 minutes or so. Take your video and break it into 10 minute segments, and upload them separately. You can title them "Video Discussion #1 1/6," then 2/6, etc. Then, you can just post them all together, in order, in one post!

I mostly just jump/dance around my house, I take like 2 hours worth of walking everyday...

I fit Ep temperament the best. High unstable energy.

Feel better Jake! I think we will all get a better picture of each other as we see more videos. It's kinda like offline interactions, there are some people who are not completely themselves when you first meet them, and after you start to see them more often, you get a better picture of them as a whole. I think I'll eventually post impressions I got of everyone in Video Discussions after I see a few more videos. Eventually we'll want to start a discussion (or maybe have an on-going one in the general thread?) of trying to point out information elements being used or preferred.

When I post my next video, I'll be generating more questions inspired by your videos. But do feel free to respond to other videos if something strikes you, and definitely send me suggestions about the process as a whole if you have any

I find this nonconstructive when you quip at peoples' self-confidence with your ending comment there. While the suggestion of keeping videos around 10 minutes is a fine suggestion, it's value is going to be lost if you're going to insult someone. Everyone is different and has different ways of expressing themselves, just because you view something and do something one way, doesn't mean other people feel exactly the same. She broke them up and titled them so you could watch the ones you are interested in, and you always have the option of just NOT watching them. Everyone's videos have been great so far, I think we should keep up the good work

If you want to type people using videos, then it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to demand that they conform to some personal ideal, as that alters their natural responses and as such alters your ability to accurately type them.

Ann, you have a very calming voice. Delta irrational is obvious and I can see ENFp as well. Your prescriptive approach to typology is Delta NF related. You guys do this alot.

I like your approach to the different theories too. Just take what works from whatever you find, and mix and match until you get it right. And even though I disagree with some of what you say, It's still "refreshing" to hear your opinions. idk why.

No shit. That's a general goal of making videos. Sharing ideas and typing people doesn't necessitate any video length, so stop using some explicitly-defined rule to justify your malleable use of the feature.

This is exactly why I was averse to these "guidelines" -- because people would either use them to limit expression, or do whatever they want within the parameters and justify it through them. While an unstructured format would allow people to "do whatever they want," it would strip these foolish pretenses of behavior and allow the content of videos to come out better. But sure, let's keep playing skip-along.
