Introduction

Associative model reflects the dynamics of psychic energy: obvious and hidden motions of human soul, which accompany the information metabolism and are expressed in the general energy of organism, in the temperament, in the mood changes, in the subjective preferences and the mental states.The term “psychic energy” means “a special form of reality of the universe… The energy, about which into one voice talked the healers of all times and nations, which they consciously used, helping their patients, which, until now is not recognized by the academicians and professors only because psychic energy is not possible to touch or register by any kind of instrument, if the individual can not perceive it himself. It is possible tough on the subjective level to develop the capability for perception of this energy and its generations, and only in the personal experience to be convinced of existence of this reality “ In the academic circles the term of psycho-energy is used as regards to the “information- energy field of a living organism” for explaining the number of the parapsychic phenomena of human psyche (3). It is possible to say that by psychic energy is implied in the science the certain interrelation of information and energy in the psyche of man. And this is not by chance.The energy in ezoteriks is also considered in the natural connection with the information. Thus, for instance, “the study of Living Ethics asserts that the human organism in accordance with its physiological and psychological state is capable to emit outside and to receive from the environment the information- energy flows of special kind, which carry information and transmitting power “influences” to another person or to the surrounding objects”. From the socionics’ perspective each person possesses one of sixteen types of information metabolism. If we consider information and energy as something mutually-connected and one-piece, then it is possible to assume that man is also a carrier and the spokesman of psychic energy of the specific type.
The question is: what types of psychic energy (TPE) of man are considered the associative model?
The model “Butterfly” refers to the dynamic structure of psyche on the basis of the compensation between the qualitatively different types of psychic energy, which are associated with four components of the structure of the personality: with the blocks Ego, Id, Superego, Superid. In order to understand what is understood under the names of blocks, let us be turned to the theories of the personality of S. Freud and C. Young. Let us examine first the blocks Ego, Id, and Superego, which are the components of the structure of personality in S. Freud's theory.

Id it is the instinctive part of the personality, which is responsible for the satisfaction of the physical needs of body, such as saturation of the organism by food, the need for the heat and the satisfaction of sexual desires. Id is guided by the principle of enjoyment. The purpose of Id is on one hand to remove the stress, that appears from the desire and on the other hand to reach its immediate satisfaction. In this part of the personality reigns chaos of the passions: there is no logical thinking or the realization of time. Impulses free enormous energy resources, which supply with energy an entire structure of personality. Freud compared Id with the spoiled selfish child, who requires the satisfaction of his desires “here and now”.
The energy of Id is slowly transformed into the energy of Ego under the external influences by means of the realization of the surrounding reality and the necessity to comply with the social norms. To say in other words: Id gives birth to Ego. Ego achieves the rational control for all parts of the personality. It is guided by the principle of reality.
Ego allows the person to distinguish between what is desired and what is possible, subjective from the objective and so on. This part of the personality is not preoccupied with the moral side of things, but pays attention to consequences for the person him/herself. Ego searches for the right moment to satisfy the desires of Id, taking into account possible reactions of other people. Therefore, Ego is compared with the rational judge, who makes plans and decisions about the actions.
Superego is responsible for the moral development of personality. It consists of the two parts: 1. Conscience, which punishes Ego for the poor behaviour by the feeling of guilt; 2. Ego - Ideal, that promises rewards for the good behaviour by feeling of self-pride and self-appraisal. Special role in the development of moral standards and in the formation of cultural values belongs to parents. Freud believed that the internal conflict is inevitable and is natural for any personality (to the different degree), because Ego has to satisfy contradictory needs of Id and Superego. Psychoanalytical theory is often referred to his theory as to the theory of instincts, because the development of personality is considered to be a a part of sexual development and namely the development of sexual instinct (libido). Freud insists that childhood is of a great importance for the development of personality, this is a critical age, because at this time the psychological profile of a person is embedded. The personal experiences associated with the development of sexual instinct is suppressed and is pushed out of the consciousness into the deeper levels of personality forming the individual unconscious (IU).
C.Young, on the contrary did not attach critical value to the development of sexual instinct at the childhood, suggesting that the heredity in many respects defines the ways in which an individual will react to the life situations and what life experiences the person will go through. Young attached special importance to the experience of the previous generations, unconsciously transferred from generation to generation in the form of internal potential, templates of behaviour, in the form of innate mental structures - archetypes. Archetypes form the content of collective unconscious (CU) and are expressed “in the patters and the motives, which are the basis of the general human symbolism of dreams, myths, fairy tales “. (6) For example, the fear of darkness, spiders and snakes can be attributed to the instinctive templates of behaviour. It is much easier for us to develop those fears and phobias, which possessed our ancestors. Unconscious fears, which we sometimes cannot explain, rise from the negative experience of our predecessors and they are the natural part of our heredity and our uncoscious (5).
Collective unconscious contains four basic archetypes: the persona (mask), anima/animus, the shadow and the self. The semantic content of the archetype “the shadow” in many respects determines the meaning of the block Superid in the theory of the “Butterfly” model.
“The shadow” is the source of creativity and simultaneously has got a potential and a tendency towards destruction. This mental structure is inherited from those lifetimes of humanity, when all concerns were reduced to the instincts of survival and continuation of the mankind. It is considered to be a “dark part” of personality, since it includes the potential of destruction. Just as Id, this component of the personality is amoral and does not distinguish good from evil. The Shadow acts on the basis of the animals’ instincts, which are capable both of the self-sacrifice for their posterity and of the coldblooded killing of other creatures, similar to themselves. The innocence of this behaviour is in the fact that animals act upon their instincts and do not possess the freedom of personal choice. (7).
It is pretty obvious from the description of blocks that Ego and Superego can be easily considered as rational and conscious parts of personality and Id and the Superid as irrational, instinctive, unconscious parts of personality. The division of blocks in this model is on the basis of a dichotomies rationality – irrationality and mentality - vitality (conscious- unconscious) coincides with the division of blocks in the model A (model of Aushra).(8).

Names and meanings of the blocks of psychic energy in this model are borrowed from the psychoanalytic theories of the personality of S. Freud, C.Young and from the theory of socionics of A. Augustivenchute. The concept of S. Freud about the dynamic relations between the components of the personality structure is central to the meaning of this theory. “Butterfly” model describes psychodynamics from the perspective of associative socionics. The conflict is a sign of the disbalance of psychic energies within the personality structure can be internal or external and is inevitable according to Freud's theory, since Id and Superego incline Ego to the contradictory solutions.
If pressure on Ego comes from the outside world (for example, the external threat of life), then the person experiences an “external” conflict. If pressure occurs from Id, then internal neurotic conflict can arise. In the case of pressure from Superego the person experiences internal moral conflict. The Ego is simultaneously a judge and a manager, which evaluates the disputing interests of Id and Superego as well as the existing possibilities in the immediate environment and takes decisions. Therefore, Ego is responsible for the retention of psychological balance and for the reaching a compromise in order to satisfy the needs of all conflicting parties (5).
In contrast to the Freud's theory, the associative theory does not consider the conflict between the components of the personality structure as unavoidably leading to the mental deviations. On the contrary, conflict is considered as an active and important “ingredient” of the dialectics of a human soul and a natural part of the personality development. This view on the conflict does not contradict Freud's ideas, who considered any behavior as a compromise one way or the other (5). According to the Butterfly model, a compromise of energy and information within the psyche of a person is reached via the dynamics of a compensatory nature between the different types of psychic energy, namely between the blocks Ego, Seperego, Id and Superid.

Thanks for comments. I will try to finish the translation first in the next few days and will translate and give references to the sources. Then I will answer all questions. Sometime people see only the connection of my theory with esoterics but I see the base in psychoanalysis. I see the vast possibility for socionics to develop in this direction. Esoterics is also possible as well as all sorts of alternative therapies.

Structure of model and the theory of the colour

When we refer to the notion of a balanced personality we mean a harmony between the opposites such as mind and heart, the soul and body. On the basis of the unity of the opposites within the personality, the author allowed herself to associate the meaning of blocks of psychic energy (BPE) with the socionics’ functions, and those in turn with the colour of chakras. (9). As a result, the sixteen personality types were divided with the reference to the four types of psychic energy (PE) into four groups:

1.Ego-types – rational extraverts. Extraverted functions: Fe (red) and Te (orange).
2. Id-types - irrational extraverts . Extraverted functions:Se (yellow) and Ne (green).
3. Superid-types –irrational introverts. Introverted functions: Ni (blue) and Si (dark-blue).
4. Superego-types - rationalintroverts. Introverted functions: Ti (violet) and Fi (light purple/pink).
The association of blocks or aspects with the colours is not something new for the theory of socionics. Gulenko (1996) in the article “The possibilities of expression of mental states. The person and the world by the language of universalities” pointed to the similarity between the communicative aspects of his theory and the 4 types of behaviour in the colour typology of M. Lusher (10):
1. “red” type (excitation, motion, activity) - state F,
2. “yellow” type (freedom, change, disclosure, bloom) - state E,
3. “green” type (hardness, sluggishness, self-controll) - state L,
4. “dark-blue” type (rest, relaxation, contentment) - state T.
The colour association proposed in the model, suggests a link between eight socionics’ functions with the specific colours. In contrast to the theory of M. Red colour is associated with the power of emotions (Fe), where the emotions are considered as one of the instruments of kontroll over the socion.
“Static” colour range of the blocks of Id (yellow, green) and Superego (white, pink, violet) does not possess sharp colour contrast. The absence of the of sharp contrast in combination of colours refers to the element of stability and characterizes mental state as predominantly static. On the contrary, the combination of bright warm and dark cold colours, for example, of red and dark-blue indicates the quick and sharp changes of psychological states, which refer to the dynamic element in the structure of the personality: Ego (red/raspberry, orange) and Superid (blue, dark-blue, black).

About chakras and functions

“Special importance in the theory of colour is given to the association of functions with the energy system of chakras, where the colours of chakras are in agreement with the colors of rainbow. Chakra is the vortex of thin energies with the different vibrations. It is known that there are many chakras in the body of a human organism. Seven chakras establish the main energy centers of Sahasrara, or Crown, Chakra (violet), Ajna, or Third Eye, Chakra (dark-blue), Visuddha, or Throat, Chakra (blue), Anahata, or Heart, Chakra (green/pink), Manipura, or Solar Plexus, Chakra (yellow), Svadhisthana, or Sacral, Chakra (orange) and Muladhara, or Root, Chakra (red).

These chakras are most important for the functioning of an organism. The main chakras pull “fine” energies from the environment by means of their vortices and produce all necessary for our functioning fine energies. In a similar way our organism selects and absorbs from the sunlight those spectral colours, which are necessary for the body functioning. Light is the radiant energy, which is transmitted in the form of waves. Colours have diverse wavelength: violet colour has a wavelength from 4000 to 4500, dark-blue from 4500 to 4700 and so forth (12).
If we shall draw a parallel with the information metabolism in socionics, then it is possible to say that the energy system of chakras could be considered as metabolism of fine ( psychic) energies, in which special role plays the heart chakre. Anahata is located directly in the middle between three lowest and three highest energy centers. The functioning of Anahata is associated with the functioning of the block Ego in the model A, because this block is responsible for making a compromise and for the retention of balance of the mental structure:
“Heart chakra is the place, where the personal and collective aspects of your internal of " I" are encountered … Three lowest chakras Manipura, Svadhisthana and Muladhara operate with the personal energy and separate you from others. Three highest chakras (Sahasrara, Ajna, Visuddha) are the collective aspects of " I" , that amplify connection with the universal energy. After waking up heart, you will be able to connect life personal and life spiritual. You will become a unified whole. Heart is a connecting thread between ego and spirit. You will be able to feel simultaneously the vitality of lowest, physical chakras and the bliss and inspiration of the high order chakras. Integral heart chakra is balanced both horizontally and vertically. This is the real center of your "I" , the place, where lives your soul “.

Attempts to integrate the knowledge of esoterics into the socionics’ theory has already been made, for example, the article of A. Voronov about the energy structure of the types of personality. Voronov’s hypotheses are based on his own observations of the physiognomy and physical qualities of the people of different types. As a result of his observations came out a theory of the distribution system of 16 types between the meredians (pathways in the body along which the body's energy is believed to flow), where “the types of personality are not the manifestation of one or other chakra but or another, but are the projections of chakras on the front, the middle and the rear middle meridians “. (14)

In contrast to the concept of A.Voronov the link between the types and the energy system of chakras in the model is not direct but defined by example and does not assume the rigid association of types with one or another chakra. Hypothetically it is possible to associate the introverted types with the lower chakras and the upper chakras with the extraverted types. For example, the introverted blocks Superego and Superid in the model A provide guidance in the process of decision making to the extraverted blocks Ego and Id. While the blocks Ego and Id serve and fulfil the will of the introverted blocks. (15). In the Butterfly model (to which I often refer as the model) the blocks Ego and Id are linked to extraversion, the blocks Superego and Superid to introversion. Therefore it is possible to assume that the extraverted types, which usually prefer bright, rich colors, have got psychological orientation to the work of lower chakras while the introverted types, who usually prefer pastel and/or dark colours are likely to be linked to the functioning of upper chakras. However, according to the observations,in some cases the extraverted types choose the dark or light colours as a compensation and on the opposite. This is not abnormal as the personality structure contains of extraverted and introverted functions. That is why the associative test considers a few different criteria, in order to determine objective regularities in subjective individual preferences.
It is possible to assume that in the future the psychodynamics of a person of a certain type could be described from the perspective of the functioning of chakras. However, the author does not possess the knowledge of esoterics to a sufficient degree in order to determine the nature of this interrelation in detail. It is important also to keep in mind, that the colour preferences do not limit themselves to the range of rainbow colours or the colours of chakras. At this stage of the development of the associative theory it is reasonable to point out to the existing tendency or predisposition of psyche toward certain subjective preferences including the preferences of colors and their combinations, which can be translated into the language of socionics by means of the Butterfly model. The method of associative diagnostics by means of the subjective associations is in need of further exploration, development and support by statistics.

This part of theory is quite big because I have to describe chakras in more detail so that you can see similarity in meanings of functions -colours- chakras, where colours are a middle point connecting the two. If you are not interested in esoterics and chakras: why and how socionics functions relate to certain chakras - you can drop this part of theory. However, if you have red some other colour theories you may suggest different association of functions and chakras. It is all about intellectual stimulation, which is always good for the brain

Socionics functions and the psychological meanings of colours

V. Dragunsky (1999) in the book “Colour test of personality” writes the following: “The mystery of colour is not yet uncovered and the question remains until now: Why and in what way precisely the colours influence the mood and behavior of a person? Why did Vasiliy Kandinskiy refer to the painting as a “colour tool” of a mental state ?”
In the socionics’ theory of colour the specific psychic energy is assigned to each of the blocks and to each of the socionics functions within the blocks in the model. The 8 types of psychic energy (TPE) are associated with the 8 colours of chakras. The combination of the two functions within one block produces a mixture of colours and a certain type of psychic energy. There are four major TPE: Ego, Superego, Id, Superid.
The block Ego is characterised by the psychological meaning of red and orange colours which symbolise the goal-directed manifestation of will. The strongest functions of an individual are located in this block of the model A.
T. Yakubovskay (2003) wrote about block Ego in her book “Sotsionika: how to understand yourself and the others: The individual solves the most important problems by means of this block without feeling confused or puzzled. It is reasonably easy to act upon the block Ego, which gives to the person the feeling ofpleasure.” (16) The red colour belongs in the model to the function of the ethics of emotions (Fe). Symbol: fire. According to E. Filatova Fe is responsible for the direct and open emotional reaction and engagement”. (17)
Red color - one of the primary colours together with the yellow and the blue, which cannot be derived from any others. The meaning of this colour in the system of chakras is associated with anger, sensuality and the functioning of lowest chakra Muladhara, which is located at the end of the spine. The work of this chakra is aimed to ensure the survival of an individual. The first chakra is the source of existence, it connects our body with the Earth and with the material world. The name of this chakra means “support” in Sanskrit.
Muladhara is responsible for viability and inspiration. At the emotional level it forms bravery and perseverance, at the sensual level - it is linked to the sense of smell and exerts a substantial influence on the teeth, bones and nails. A deficiency in the energy of Muladhara makes a person nervous and not confident in his/her own capabilities. In such periods the chakra absorbs a feeling of fear. “This the part of our essence fears the unity with the God and acts according to the laws of the jungle: " Entrust no one! " “(9). The excessive stimulation of chakra provokes arrogance, egocentrism, greediness and lewdness. (18)
The second function of the block Ego is the function of applied logic (Te). The name of this function implies the rationality of actions, systemic approaches to problem solving, use of procedures and technologies for achievement the high efficiency of labor. In the model this function is associated with the orange colour and the chakra Svadhisthana , which is located in the base of sex organs. The Sacral chakra is the symbol of sexual enjoyment and reproduction. Symbol: orange (or carrot). Located on the level of sacrum, this chakra is related to the element of water and to the fluid body functions. It presents sexuality, creative activity and emotional equilibrium. Chakra is responsible for optimism and a feeling of taste. As a rule, sociable people have well balanced sacral chakra. The deficiency of this energy can lead to arthritis, accompanied by irritability, sadness, bad temper. The excessive stimulation of chakra leads to the manifestations of aggressiveness, despotism and wilfulness (18).

Block Superid is the opposition of block Ego. In socionics this block is defined as the weakest or “childish”: by means of this block an individual imposes his requirements to society and attempts to solve his problems with the aid of others. Criticism on this block is received easily. Superid is associated with - blue and dark-blue colours (as well as black). Dark-blue colour is associated in the model with the function Si (sensorics of sensations). This socionics’ function is responsible for perceiving the harmony of three-dimensional
forms, for the feeling of external and internal comfort and the health. Symbol: moon. In the system of chakras dark-blue colour is associated with the wisdom of Ajna, which makes it possible to discover the inner space within yourself, to develop the “sixth” feeling and to hear your internal voice. The Third Eye chakra is located between the eyebrows. “Ajna” means in Sanskrit “the command”. It guides the dynamic mind, will and imagination. The development of Ajna of contributes to clairvoyance and is linked with the tendency of an individual towards the transcendental. Imagination is a mechanism of supernatural experiences beyond the material world. “The tendency to understand magic and sense of life, leads us to the desire to perceive transcendental reality, hidden behind the reality of daily routine. The highest purpose of the sixth chakra are the inspiration and the bliss.
. We can manifest this inspiration through the creative activity, for example through artistic self-expression. But if the person goes to its lowest purpose, then he/she may fall into escapism and the world of illusion away from the genuine reality. Both ways lead to the confluence with the highest form of reality“. (9).

The block Superid includes also the function of the intuition of time (Ni). The working of Ni is manifested in the ability to register the changes in the development of events, in premonition and poetic fantasy.
In the model Ni is associated with the blue/turquoise color. In the system of chakras blue colour is linked with Visuddha, which is located at the level of throat and means “clean" in Sanskrit. Throat Chakra symbolises creative self- expression. This chakra is a mediator of thoughts and ideas from upper to the four lower chakras. Self-expression occurs not only at the level of communication and is not limited to sound. Hack writing, drawing, dance, music, reflection and other countless forms of creative expression become available by means of the energy of the fifth chakra. The balanced chakra calms the mind, develops a feeling of time and strengthens the faith. The excessive stimulation of Visuddha makes a person self-reliant, overconfident, dogmatic, and bossy. The insufficient stimulation of chakra makes a person weak, deceitful and unreliable. (18)

The block Id belongs to the unconscious (together with Superid) and is associated with the yellow, which is also the colour of the function of sensorics of will- power (Se). According to the model A, an individual acts upon this block automatically, without much thinking, without the many reflections or explanations. Id is responsible for the satisfaction of needs without asking for help elsewhere. Therefore the function Se manifests itself in the call to action, assertiveness and propagation in the space (17). Symbols: the sun, the luminous halo. The meaning of Se function is the best suited to the description of Manipura, which is arranged at the level of solar interlacement and means the force of will. Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with the motion and the changes directed toward the transformation of personality as well as the development of will which has nothing in common with the aggression and the control. Manipura contributes to self-fullfilment in the harmonious connection with the outside world. So that the person is able to detach him/herself from the outside influences and simultaneously to influence the world around him/her. The third chakra is a source of self-confidence, awareness of your own unique powers. It is responsible for shaping your own system of values, principles, for which you are ready to stand. As a result Manipura frees your will - giving you freedom of choice: to act or to be inactive. The third chakra contributes to the development of the unique law of honour within the personality (9).
Id block includes the function of the intuition of possibilities (Ne), which is associated in socionics with the inventiveness and creativity, with the ability to see the hidden qualities of an object and to find the original solution to any problem. Symbol: the tree of life, the leaves.
The intuition of possibilities Ne is suited the best with the description of Heart chakra. Anahata is arranged in the region of heart and manifest itself in f harmony of soul and body. The functioning of this chakra contributes to the development of a balanced personality, in which spirituality and physics are harmoniously united in the human nature. Anahata teaches us the universal love and optimism. The heart chakra helps to obtain the harmony of the inner world and in the relations with other people (9).

Block Superego is associated with the pink/ lilac and violet colours. Pink colour is the colour of the function of the ethics of relations (Fi). Superego block is linked by the meaning with the conscience of a person and the system of the moral norms, accepted in the society. It is not easy to work by means of the block Superego, but the need to develop your weaker functions is difficult or even impossible to ignore, because this is a conscious block. The sphere of the influence of Fi consists of regulations in the relations between the people, questions of responsibility and morality, respect for traditions and their observance (17). Symbol: heart. Pink colour in the system of chakras relates to the Heart chakra together with the green colour.
The block Superego also includes the function of the logic of relations (Ti), which in the model is linked to the violet colour and Sahasrara. This function (Ti) is manifested in the tendency toward the abstract-logical means of thinking, toward the mental structures and the scientific theories. Compare it with the description of the purpose of the chakra:
“The Crown chakra is located on the upper point of the head and represent spirituality. The seventh chakra is a center of the clear, unclouded universal energy. The desire to perceive The God in that form, which is understandable for you at the given moment is the prevailing tendency of the seventh chakra. If a need appears, then you must completely submit your will to the God’s will. At this level we are no longer satisfied by the knowledge of spiritual life, but we attempt to merge with the God and to live subsequently under His guidance… each of us has a higher purpose of living – The God’s intention, who has given to us this incarnation. Each of the highest chakras possesses its own purpose, but the Crown chakra wakes us up to the realization of the universal purpose of our soul in this embodiment. When you reached the perspective of the seventh chakra, you know your highest purpose, but this knowledge implies responsibility. To accept it or to reject – this is the question of personal choice. If you reject the realization of your own purpose, then you will return to lower chakras. But if you accept it, then you attach yourself to the infinite source of energy. God will grant to you entire energy and will create all necessary conditions in order to satisfy the purpose of your soul” (9).

Hello again!
Before I proceed translating of the articale, I thought it will be a good idea to post here my replay to the question about the general meaning of the theory. I hope it will be easier to read and understand the artical.
First of all, the theory of associative associonics is my perspective, my understanding of things and my discovery of how things connect to each other to give a meaning of what I see - the deeper understanding of things. This knowledge I am happy to share with you. So it is a subjective knowledge of an "objective" world. Do not be afraid of the word "subjectivity"- all " more or less objective" theories come originally from subjective source, from a person -subject and not from the objects. Subjective perception is that magic ingredient, that talent within you which you always wish to discover and to perfect. Some people believe that an objective world is a product of subjective perceptions. This is a philosophy of life.
So the answer was following:

There are many different perspectives to the model, it can be potetially used in different ways. To say short the model shows that things which we usually consider as not objective but purely subjective, in fact do have meaning and can tell you something interesting about the person. It helps you to understand better the personality, it is also an extra tool for typing people. The model is about psychodynamics and it shows that the people of the same type are different and in what way they are different. So it is also the basis for the theory of sybtypes- this is another topic which I need to present in a form of an artical, because the theory already exists. If to be even more general about the theory, then it is about objective regularities/characteristics of subjective world of people. It is a tool of understanding people better,however, this tool needs to be further explored and improved so that it will be more clear to other people - how it works. It is not that easy as somebody may think it is. To be more conrete and to give you some examples of what the model is good for.....knowing the favourite colours of a person and the music he/she likes you can make suggestions about some type related characterisitcs such as dynamics -statics, introversion -extraversion, rationality-irrationality. Basically, the model gives you extra keys in undestanding the inner world of a person and his/her type and subtype. It is not all, but this is important for socionics. I also type music and work in this direction. I know some people who is typing on the basis of drawing or by the writing fairy tales....People constantly unlock many different secrets about personality using the language of socionics. I do not ask you to accept my theory or model- this is the matter of a personal choice.

I will use this reduction: Butterfly Model (BM)

In the model the blocks Ego and Id are “physical, materialized, evident” or extraverted blocks, which are associated with the bright, “rich” colours. Blocks Superego and Superid are “spiritual, corrective” or introverted blocks which are linked to the light and dark nuances of colours. White colour and all pastel tones belong to the block Superego. Black and all dark colours - to the block Superid. The preference of bright colour range indicates the prevalence of extraversion and on the contrary, preference to dark or light tones - the prevalence of introversion. The combination of white and black colours besides the indication of introversion can also indicate the higher proportion of logic above ethics.
Butterfly Model (BM) as any other model reflects only a general tendency, emphasizing essential and ignoring the not important properties of the phenomenon being simulated. The link of functions with the colours of chakras is not canonical. Therefore it is not possible to establish the type of information metabolism exclusively and error -free on the basis of colour & function association. The purpose of model is first of all to determine the psychodynamics of a person and his belonging to a certain type of psychic energy: Ego, Superego, Id, Superid. The names of psychic energy coincide with the names of the blocks in the model. Psychodynamics point out to the type and a subtype of personality on the basis of prevalence of certain types of psychic energy (PE). At the same time it is possible to see the weakest link in psychic structure between the bocks: one of the blocks stands out as the weakest. Several criteria are considered in order to determine the dynamics of the psyche, where the colour preference plays important, but not always the major role. The collection of criteria is sufficiently wide since psychic energy is expressed in the temperaments, the musical preferences, the interests and hobbies, professional activity, type of thinking, style of speech and movements and etc.
Psychic energy (PE) has a great potential of manifestations at the conscious and sub/uncounscous levels. In contrast to other perspectives in socionics, which study the type of information metabolism in conjunction with the behaviour of a person, for example, system DCNH Gulenko V.V., the model of the subtypes of Dovgan A.G. (19, 20), the associative perspective directs focus from the study of behavioural patterns to the study of subjective preferences as manifestation of the subconscious, deeper processes in the psyche. Studying preference patterns means implying the wide spectrum of all possible manifestations, more or less obvious ones, which have an effect on the mood/motivation and mental states such as colour, music, aroma, taste, climate, the time of day, seasonal changes and etc. Thus, the model opens a new perspective for further study of the human psyche, where the objective and subjective aspects of personality do not exclude, but complement each other.

Thanks to all, who is paying attention to my theory and sorry for delay in translating. I had a busy time learning new interesting staff, while Dr. Grig (Gregory Reinin) was in London. After I finish translating I can write a few words about my new expereinces, for those who are interested.

Description of dynamic oppositions

“The individual soul is not explained by classification, yet at the same time, through the understanding of the psychological types, a way is opened to a better understanding of human psychology in general”.

The test of individual preferences – the associative test -was created on the basis of the colour theory, where the dominant TPE is correlated with the main type, and a compensatory TPE - with the subtype. TPE is determined on the basis of the client observation and with the aid of the test. The questions of the test are correlated with the different TPE. Since all four major TPEs (Ego, Superego, Id, Superid) are present in any psyche in a different proportion, the test registers the two most clearly evident TPEs as leading in psychodynamics of a person, similar to the two strong functions in the model A (programme and creative functions), which form the block Ego. The two leading TPE determine the psychodynamics or in other words “dynamic opposition of the psyche”. It means that the person is balancing first of all these two TPEs in his psyche and this is for him vital. It also means that the person carries within him/her and brings to the world mainly these types of psychic energy. This is good to know in order to balance TPEs, where there is an obvious imbalance and inequality. The principal of balance is extremely important for the healthy functioning of the psyche. In the introduction to the work “Psychological types” Young pointed to the existence of main and compensatory subtypes:

“This subjective clouding of judgement is particularly common because in every pronounced type there is a special tendency to compensate the one-sidedness of that type, a tendency which is biologically purposive since it strives constantly to maintain a psychic equilibrium.”

As regards to the dynamic opposition in BM (butterfly model), one of the TPE is considered as leading and another as compensatory. The dynamics of the TPEs lay the basement for the associative subtype theory and determine six general dynamic oppositions in the psychic structure of personality where one of the blocks considered to be dominant and another one compensatory:

1.Extraverted opposition: Ego - Id and Id – Ego.

The person is an obvious extravert, this quality is expressed in the need of interaction with the outside world whether it is a need of reconstruction and changing the surroundings accordingly to the personal needs or in constantly seeking attention and new experiences. Depending on what TPE is leading, the person searches for a compromise between the need to exert a rational control over the situation (over his/her own as well as the others actions) with the irrational desire of personal independence and freedom of responsibility, which derive from the immediate impulses.

2. Introverted opposition: Superego-Superid and Superid-Superego.

The person, who is characterised by this opposition, is inclined to the solitude, prefers the small circle of familiar people for socialising as well as for work and well known environment. Depending on what TPE is leading, the person balances his inner drives between the responsibility for oneself and the others: the desire to think and to worry about himself/herself, to protect the sensitive inner world from the destructive influences of the outside world with the need to protect and to care for other people as well as to allocate to them sufficient time and attention.

3. Rational opposition: Ego - Superego and Superego - Ego.
This opposition indicates the predominance of rationality in the behavior of a person, in the style of his thinking. Depending on which TPE is leading, man searches for a compromise between the need to control people around him and to tie to them his will with the need for subordinating his interests and needs to opinion and to the interests of other people.

4. Irrational opposition: ID - Superid and Superid-Id.
The person does not have a constant need to rigidly control his environment or to depend on the opinion of majority. He/she values his personal freedom and recognizes the right of others to express themselves freely. Depending on which TPE is leading the desire to enjoy life and take advantage of the diverse opportunities is balanced with the need for self-preservation and protection of internal world from the obtrusive external influences

5. Static opposition: Superego - Id and Id - Superego.
This opposition characterizes a person as statics. This person is balanced on the dichotomies rationality-irrationality and introversion- extraversion. But in the structure of personality is not sufficiently expressed the element of dynamics, which is due to the stability of interests, the stability of mood and habits. Depending on which TPE is leading the person searches for a compromise between the satisfaction of its personal needs and desires with the performance of public duty and responsibility for other people.

6. Dynamic opposition: Ego - Superid and Superid - Ego.
In the structure of personality is clearly evident the element of dynamics, which is associated with the mobility of nervous processes, the changeability of mood and emotional states. This person is balanced on the dichotomies rationality - irrationality and introversion- extraversion. Balancing is achieved due to mobility and adaptability of psyche to different mental conditions. Depending on what TPE is leading, man searches for a compromise between the need to exert his willpower over other people and environment with the skill to subordinate himself to circumstances in order to preserve his inner world from the destructive effect of external influences in the situations of crisis.

Among the psychodynamic oppositions dynamic and static oppositions are considered to be as usual or as basic opposition, because they characterise the psyche in a rather sufficient way. These oppositions define the process od psychic compensation on three base dichotomies: rationality – irrationality, extraversion- introversion and statics- dynamics. Compensation on all three dichotomies is most adequate and comfortable for a person, step by step bringing him nearer a purpose of psychic development - to harmony. If we take a look at the functions of the mental block of the model A in relation to Butterfly model then we shall find the confirmation for this suggestion.
Thus, in the mental block of the dynamic types (model A) enter the functions, which correlate with the functions of the dynamic blocks (Butterfly model) : Ego and Superid. In the mental block of static types enter the static functions of the static blocks Superego and Id.

Special role in the model belongs to the dynamic opposition, due to which occurs sharp, powerful shift in the restoration of energy unbalance. At the basis of the development of soul lies conflict, difference (the opposition). The opposition of blocks Ego and Superid can be considered as a clash of two forces moving towards each other. The will of man as rational human being resists the will of the irrational force of nature, which created him. Under the force of nature we can also understand the prevailing circumstances. The Ego- types possess the power of two extraverted functions of the ethics of emotions and business logic, which more than any other functions are capable of exercising the will, actively changing the world around. Energy of block Ego is necessary in the crisis situation for making valid decisions. Energy of block Superid is necessary for self-preservation and the flexibility in the adaptation to the changing conditions. The mutually complementing action of these functions was described earlier by V.Gulenko in the law of the compensation of states (E-ethics of emotions and P - business logic):

“E → P: emotional excitation is compensated by business process. At the moment of the strong emotional splashes the person has a wish to move himself and to move the objects around him. The saturated emotionalism turns into the hurry motions, useless running around.

P → E: the stressful work requires periodic emotional discharges. Being too long in the working process leads to the emotional disruptions, the quarrels, the revelry. This form of the compensation was introduced long ago for by people as the alternation of working and leave days.”

Opposition and conflict in the relations both between the functions and the blocks pierces all levels of the mental structure of personality and is the integral part of its development. It is not a new discovery, but indication of fundamental laws of the dialectic G. Hegel, formulated by F. Engels. In particular, the second law of G. Hegel postulates that the conflict between the opposites is the basis of any development. (21) Laws of dialectic are the basis of any development from the lowest step to the highest and is reflected in the socionics’ theory on the level of interaction of functions and on the level of interaction of small groups in socionics.

Yakubovskaja T. compared two groups of socion, which transmit information in the opposite to each other direction. These groups are called the rings of the progress. She associated these groups with the symbolism of swastikas, after assuming that “the rings of progress have not only high social value, but also reflect certain universal world law” (16). In the BM is also used the symbolism of swastikas for describing interaction between four basic TPE: Ego, Id, Superego and Superid. Evolutionary or creative motion (clockwise movement) proceeds from Ego where a rational will of individual is directed towards the control of the lowest forces. (22) Superid is the source of the corrective motion comes from Superid – the block of dependence and subordination to the will of fate (counter clockwise movement). Laws of the dialectic are used as a philosophical base for explaining of different dynamic processes and phenomena in the mental structure of the personality, where the theory of existence of subtypes is one of such phenomena.

BM about the subtype theory

Examining model from the energy prospect, it is possible to say that the BM comes out as super-system in relation to the model A, since the blocks and functions are examined separately from the models of 16 types at the more abstract level. Therefore it is possible to isolate new phenomenon in the mental structure of personality - type of mental (psychic) energy - TPE. From the other side, the model B can be considered as subsystem to the model A, which provide the information about the intra-type differences and serves as base for determining the subtype. The questions arise: how BM is converted into the system of subtypes and in what way is it related to the model of any particular type?

BM is connected with the model of the informational metabolism. The common part is in the coincidence of the leading TPE with the program and role functions of model A for each of the 16 types. Model also makes it possible to determine the compensatory subtype on the basis of the psychodynamic opposition, which in turn can be determined through the interrelation with the type of informational metabolism (model A). This means that knowing the exact type of a person, it is possible to make an assumption about his TPE as well as subtype (and vice versa) on the basis of BM. Another article will be dedicated to the theory of subtypes and the development of intra-type abilities. It is important to emphasize for now that it is possible to consider BM as the system of subtypes. For example, the rational extravert being the ego-type (TPE Ego: Fe+Te), could have one of three possible compensatory subtypes in relation with three remaining TPEs: Superid (Si+Ni), Id (Ne+Se) or Superego (Fi+ Ti).

In the socionics’ circles is widely known the theory of subtypes (system DCNH), developed in the School of Humanitarian socionics under the management of V. Gulenko. (19) It is established that the BM has structural connection with the system of the subtypes DCNH and the subtype model of A. Dovgan. (24) Theoretical divergence between the DCNH and the BM is in the different understanding of the role of energy in the psychic structure of personality as well as what is regarded as the main object of study: the objective behaviour of a person or his/her motives and individual, subjective preferences. Nevertheless it is possible to assume that in spite of a certain difference in the concepts and besides the structural similarity there is also similarity in the content of the theories. This can be established in the course of later discussions. At a given moment the author suggests that there is the semantic connection between the concept of DCNH with the TPEs: Ego – D (dominant), Superego – N (norm), Superid – H (harmonised), Id – C (creative).

The types of psychic energy are correlated semantically with the typology of the temperaments of Hippocrates (460-377 yr. B.C.) and with socionics’ temperaments of V. Gulenko. (24) Thus, ego-types are correlated with the dominant subtype, the “linear- pressure” temperament and the choleric temperament. Id-types are correlated with the creative subtype, the flexible and speedy –motion temperament and the sanguine temperament. Superid-types are correlated with the harmonising subtype, the receptive- adaptive temperament and the melancholic temperament. Superego-types are correlated with the normalizing subtype, the stable temperament and the phlegmatic temperament. The chain of TPE -associations with the different phenomena can be continued infinitely. For instance, the association test connects TPE with the time (morning, noon, evening, late evening night), with the seasons (winter, summer…), musical preferences (rock, blues, jazz…), with the description of kvadras and so forth. TPE is expressed in the nature and in everything we do, because the people are a part of nature.

The BM about the development of personality

According to BM, the personality has the following stages of development, which can be associated with the development stages of a butterfly:

1. The egg of butterfly is associated with the development of a baby in the womb of mother and with the block Superid. Psychological types, whose program functions are the same as the function of this block (Si+Ni), will especially value individual comfort and protection from the external influences.

2. Caterpillar is associated with the period of the rapid development of child and the block Id (Se+Ne).

3. Pupa symbolizes the transition period: the end of the childhood and the beginning of teenage period, which is linked to teenage crisis and stepping into young adulthood. The transformation of a child into the adult is related to block Ego ( Fe+Te).

4. Butterfly is associated with the productivity, self-realisation, self-confidence wisdom and stability of mature adulthood: block Superego (Fi+Ti).

5. Old age is linked to the weakening of vital processes, withdrawal from the active life and the responsibility, by growing dependence from others and by block Superid (Si+Ni). This is the stage of preparation for the afterlife.

6. Death and the Judgement day. Devil has got right to take away the soul into the reign of shadows.

It is possible to assume that culpable soul finishes its development at this stage. If a soul is forgiven – it continues the development and the seventh stage begins in the afterlife. May be, it t is not by chance that Muslims have the sacred ritual of walking around of Kaaba 7 times counterclockwise. The building of Kaaba is covered with black silk and resembles the form of a socionics’ symbol of extraverted logic (25). The description of the development of personality in time suggests that the changes will occur both at the level of material body(quantitative and qualitative changes) and at the level of consciousness. That is why we shall additionally examine the differences between the forms of consciousness.

Thank you for reading, anyway. Whatever comes from any one person, it comes with a flavour of subjectivity. I could post it without reference to chackras but then why should I? It is my concept, so let it be. I consider it as a piece of art, where philosophy is mixed with psychoanalysis and esoterics. The human psyche is a piece of art too. The language of science does not reflect on the complexity of a soul to the extent as the art does.
It is more about unic self-expression.

By analogy with the socionics’ theory, the BM connects judgment with the rationality and the consciousness, and perception - with the irrationality and sub/unconsciousness. According to BM and in accordance with other theories, for example, the Freudian theory, conscious functions stem from unconscious functions. It is also possible to assume that conscious functions return from the consciousness to subconsciousness and conclude their way in the unconsciousness as in the bank of the storage information, where it is transformed and is delivered back into the consciousness in a new form when it is needed. Together with the concepts of collective and individual unconscious as proposed by Young (7) there are introduced the new concepts of the collective and individual consciousness, which are the mutually complementing forms of consciousness. Changes in the consciousness can be examined at two levels: at the given moment and in time. The mechanisms of a change in the consciousness at two levels, probably, the same. The difference must be in the results of these processes. Changes of the consciousness at the specific moment do not usually leave a deep track and have a temporary nature. The repetition of the processes occurring in time can lead to the more stable changes in the consciousness both: positive and negative.

Collective conscious (CC) is our collective knowledge, which is the experience of generations preserved in the books, traditions, culture, legislation and so forth. Obviously CC is in the process of a constant renovation.
Collective unconscious (CU) is our inheritance from the previous generations, which left track in our psyche in the form of images and ideas tgeneral for the entire humanity (7).
Individual conscious (IC) relates to the self -realization as the subject, separate from all the objects. Which entails the awareness of the individual flow of consciousness and self-perception as a rational human being, capable of reflecting the surrounding reality in symbols, mental and sensory images.
Individual unconscious (IU) corresponds to the retention of our personal experiences and knowledge, which were forgotten, ejected by consciousness into unconscious mind or they did not have a sufficient energy to reach consciousness and therefore remain perceived, but not registered (7).
The BM has got a shape of a Butterfly. The horizontal channels of BM connect the functions which are opposite to each other on the dichotomy of extraversion-introversion. The left side of BM belongs to the mental block (conscious) and the right side - to the vital block (unconscious).
In the two top channels are the functions of block Ego (on the left) and the functions of the block Id (on the right). According to model A these blocks are the strongest in the structure of a psyche. In the BM the information enters the program function (Ti) from the controlling function (Te) from the direction of the block Id. Ti-Te opposition is independent (not a contact one), it corresponds to internal perception and collection of information from the external world. Motion of information in a direction towards itself or inwardly. It is possible to assume that Te as an informational aspect activates and attracts attention of the program function Ti at the level of perception – subconscious level. This process is automatic, it does not require special efforts. From the Te to Ti information is transferred further to the channel of the opposition Ne--Ni. This functional opposition is active, dependent (a contact one) and to the larger degree conscious. The second, creative channel Ne-Ni processes and delivers information into the external world (direction from the subject to the object). The produced information is directed, first of all, toward an active change in the outside world.

At the bottom channels of the BM are the blocks Superego (on the left) and Superid (on the right), which play complementary role in the information metabolism. Information in these channels moves from the suggestive function (Fe) to the role function Fi. This opposition is active, dependent and to the large degree conscious. This functional channel actively collects information from the outside world (external collection) which is transferred then to the opposition Se -Si. The direction of the information flow towards the internalworld of the individual. Opposition Se-Si is independent and less conscious. The so called “third” channel processes and issues information to the inner, deeper level of the psyche. As a result of this process an individual consciousness is developed, the new experience and the knowledge is gathered, which means a lot for the individual him/herself (internal production of information).This is the information flow towards him/herself.

It is possible to examine a gradual change in the consciousness in the light of the gradual development of personalityin the BM. The development of a baby starts before birth and is correlated with the TPE Superid. It is possible to suggest that at this time begins the process of the formation of collective unconscious (CU), which will determine in many respects unconscious tendencies and preferences of a future person. With the birth the subconscious TPE Id comes to power, which is governed by the principle of pleasure. In the period of the domination of TPE Id the individual consciousness is formed in the structure of personality by means of the active interaction with the environment. Child learns to separate himself as a subject from surrounding objects.

The next development stage of consciousness is associated with the rapid development of the TPE Ego. This period begins in the adolescence and slows down when the person approaches the mature adulthood. This period is characterised by the active gathering of collective consciousness CC and the simultaneous production of individual consciousness IC. This means that the person simultaneously studies and changes his environment in accordance with his perception of reality. This is an active and productive period in the life of a person.

The Superego stage is associated with the phase of maturity and wisdom. By this time the person gathers a large individual experience (IC) and possesses a sufficient knowledge about the world around him/her. (CC). At the Superego stage begins the deeper search for the meaning of human existence, the purpose of life.
The personal values are reviewed as if the person realises that if he wishes to change something in his life he has a chance to do it now as it may be not possible to do it at a later stage. The desire to change the personal situation radically may appear very realistic. The person may start to pay an extra attention to the satisfaction of his/her spiritual needs. Changes can be on a surface or they may be deep in nature and include changes in career, in a place of residence, in a family status and etc. The search for the true Self and the realization of former mistakes contributes to the spiritual correction at the later stage in life.
Knowledge about spiritual improvement is the sacral knowledge, which is transferred from generation to generation in the form of spiritual customs. As a result of these processes at the Superego stage is formed individual unconscious (IU) as a philosophical position, which the person trusts and follows.

Superid energy is linked to the old age, when the person becomes more and more dependent on the others for the life maintenance. During this period the partial loss of individual and collective consciousness may happen. This is a natural preparation for further transformation of consciousness after death.

The loss of physical body does not mean however the total loss of consciousness or the individual psychic energy. Together with the concept of the human organism as a dynamic system, which develops in accordance with the laws of physics and chemistry,S. Freud also used the law of energy conservation as the theoretical base for his psychoanalytical theory (5). The energy as mass cannot be destroyed according to this law, but it is only transformed: “The law of conservation of energy – the fundamental law of nature- states the fact that energy of the closed system remains in time. In other words, energy cannot arise from anything and can disappearnowhere, it can only pass from one form to another.” (26)

Conclusion
Butterfly model lays foundation for the development of associative socionics and integration of socionics’ theory into psychoanalytical psychology as well as
alternative therapies. It is possible with the help of associative method used in the model to gain a deeper insight into the subjective world of an individual and to realize that the world of subjective preferences and motives is not so chaoticor accidential in nature as at may seem at the first glance.
The saying like this one “to the taste and the colour - there is no comrade” reflects more the past but not the future of socionics. Model indicates to the deeper link between the human being and nature at the level of energy-information metabolism, to the universal connection. The subjective preferences of people in colour, music, art etc., reflect the objective laws governing the development of their subjective world. The inner motives are the product of their individual psychodynamics, which can be examined from the perspective of associative socionics in more detail in a future.

I would like to invite you to take part in my music project, where I collect the favourite music of all 16 types. The project is located in socioforum in the thread Europe. There I have all my topics related to associative socionics. If you wish to post your music to the project you have to be 100% sure of your own type. Secondly, you need to be registered on that forum. Which is a good thing because I plan there other associative projects to come soon. If you donot wish to register ther you could just send to my email address the titles of the music you like and I will do it for you under your nickname.

I also would like to ask you which of my articles you would be interested to read next. I have got an article such as the introduction to socionics: how socionics can contribute to the growth of personality. A second article is not quite ready yet but I already started to work on it: Music and Art from the perspective of Socionics. This is a talk on how to type music and art. There is another article that is not ready yet for publishing - the subtype theory. The articles are not as big as this article about the BM.

Jarno, I used the sources from a couple of books and interenet. Mainly the study book by Gross, the one I studied psychology at the college. Very clear cut and reasonably short explanation.

Besides listing our preferences we need to find the words to describe the differences in music. If you know a lot about different styles of music that will be of a great help to the project.
From socionics perspective we shall search for the expression of functions in music. From the point of associative socionics the temperaments, texts, meanings, pictures, photos, patterns, videos are important and those associations which you imagine by listening to the music. We shall learn to differentiate different types of psychic energy from everything what we see and what we feel.

I agree. Being skeptical, from my own experiences, is just based on a fear of 'looking stupid' or something similar. Skeptics anticipate being right and are rarely convinced otherwise. Many, if not most skeptics are frauds(though they will call YOU the fraud!). Just because someone speaks in scientific sounding terms and says they have a scientific idea, doesn't mean much other than that the word 'scientific' is less likely to make the speaker feel stupid.

on the flipside, many people use esoteric sounding terms(like the many people who use 'scientific' terms) but do not know what the heck they are talking about.

It is funny that people who 'practice' socionics would talk about the necessity of things being proven scientifically.

I appreciate your effort a lot. I find it difficult to read some Ti -theories. But I am sure that on the level of everyday langauge we can understand each other better if not fully.

Yes, you understood right. This is a general model, which has got the same structure like DCNH system. If we would be creators of all the 16 types we would take first of all two elements (or may be even one) and made of them 4 and then 8 and so on. If we shall compare it with colours, we would have firstly white and black. Then through the white colour we could get the rainbow of colours. Make them darker or lighter and you have got all the colours and shades.
In socionics we start from basic (in my view) dichotomies rational-irrational, extro-intro, statics - dynamics and this is how we come to my model and DCNH.
Is that ok or not ok?
