Default Political Test relating to European parlamentary elections

    EU Profiler

    Select English.

Apparently of all parties in EU, I agree most with List Dedecker, a Belgian party. There's nothing even close to that in Finland.

Interesting test, although the questions tend to have a clear Eurocratic origin.

The List Dedecker came up second for me; the first was the ODS, a Czech party.

In fact, Czech and Swiss parties were "over-represented" in my list.

Looking at individual countries, the results are interesting:

    - in Italy: "my" party is the PRC, the reformed communists
    - in Germany: the FDP - ok
    - in the UK: the UKIP
    - in France: the Alternative Libérale - ok I guess

What is interesting is that in the Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium, I fit no party - the closest fit is the PS (the Socialists), with whom I strongly disagree (a fit of 54%).

My fits with the Dutch-speaking Belgian parties, in Flandres, are much higher - 79% for the LDD.

I guess it fits the reality of the Wallonia - where I worked for 3 years - as a decadent economic shithole that is totally mismanaged, and one of the saddest parts of western Europe, and Flandres as one of the most successful economically.

Closest party is Saskaņas centrs in Latvia , seems pretty liberal tho.

UK = Lib Dems, Labour 2nd

    Sweden = Moderate Party

For the UK, I got Lib Dem, Green, Labour - I think in a 2005 one, I got Lib Dem and Green the other way round, but I don't think I would vote Green when I could vote for Lib Dem or Labour.

My closest Europe-wide match was Stranka mlandih Slovenije (Slovenia)

Yeah, many of the questions are irrelevant to people outside of Europe, and they probably don't have opinion on them, or the opinion would be different if they were Europeans.

The List Dedecker came up second for me; the first was the ODS, a Czech party.
Interesting, then our political opinions are quite similar.

    Some comparisions to finnish parties:

Center Party is where the british Labor Party is. The Center Party in Finland is actually mostly for people living in rural areas.

Finnish Green party is way more pro-EU, in fact it's the most pro-EU party in Finland. The finnish Green party, like someone put it:"in practice is the gardening department of the bourgeois parties".

The National Coalition party, that's comparable to the british Conservative party is way more EU-friendly, approximately as high as LD.

I place of the LD, there's the Swedish Peoples' Party , in Finland.

Also like Sweden, Finland now has a (software) Pirate Party. But it didn't make it to these elections.

In Pro EU Integration, I was at the same level as Subt. But I was at the extreme socioeconomic right.

I'm not really sure what my exact stance towards integration in the EU is. I know that being in the EU is an absolute must, but I also know there is a danger of my country having silly laws and regulations being imposed on it, laws and regulations that people Europe-wide do not particularly care if another country follows or not.

I think it would be a good thing if security and military costs were cut by having a European army and so on...but if there was a real humanitarian disaster that needed intervention, I'm really not convinced that the EU would actually respond in a 'satisfactory' manner to that. The EU government (and the UN) are just so crap at things like that. And if a country breaks some EU commitment...it doesn't particularly seem to matter.

EU laws can seem really fluffy and crap, and the government is often criticised (and noone ever actually seems to know anything about it). But I'm pro EU (with reservations) because I think it's important for countries to be talking to each other (and yes, there's the UN), and because trade tariffs for countries outside the EU (which I oppose) mean that it makes sense for the UK to be in the EU, especially considering its location.

@Subterranean: well said, I agree with everything you said.

My main problem with the EU structure is that there's too much of an "one acceptable thought" mindset, that is, the only possible way is ever increasing political integration etc.
