    I'd say it's worthless.

It might be interesting to know, if there's someone who's actually good at that.
...the human race will disappear. Other races will appear and disappear in turn. The sky will become icy and void, pierced by the feeble light of half-dead stars. Which will also disappear. Everything will disappear. And what human beings do is just as free of sense as the free motion of elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, feelings? Pure 'Victorian fictions'.

I've failed it every time. I have been able to associate wide jaws with sensors on it though at least, cough, yeah anyway.

As "the critic" I point out two concerns with it

    1) can you tell me the type or do I have to keep guessing?
    and
    2) is it legitimate? who's actually making these distinctions between type?

No. Not helpful, although I haven't seen all the faces, maybe there would be some hints to see.

First of all, VI can only be learned through comparing faces of types you already know, and noticing similarities.

Though maybe you could make a tutorial for using VI as a confirmation tool. For example, if you think some type is an ESFP, check whether you can see the lowered mouth corners. etc etc.

Yes, it's probably possible to make exaggarated faces of types so that they have distincive characteristics of which most of us would agree with. Yet subtypes differ too, so... including male and female, we're at about 64 faces in total.

edit, damn I forgot the different races, it seems Ganin used that too. So we're at 640000 faces in total. Why not memorize every individual on earth. hmm

oke, I'm quoting myself, which is nice.

I've noticed Ganin used my proposal :-)

The ENFJ woman, has the distinctive ENFJ womans mouth. W shaped. If Ganin had pointed that out, then people could actually learn from the test. Now it's just... a test.

Yes. These are the kind of distinctions I'd really like to know. Because it's either I don't notice detail or I'm not grasping the commonalities, and I think its the former. I could see users being able to crack that code, but i just want the facts please, ex. what makes this an INFP exactly. Is it his eyes, nose, mouth? I can't take everything into account if I don't have anything to relate it to. If you could tell me just one thing to look for I can figure out the rest.

Well this is my first simple attempt. These are characteristics that are fairly common.
Focus on these facial parts, to spot similarities quicker between persons of the same type.

    ENTP: sloped forhead, stare
ISFP: soft smile, wide jaws. Some males have thick eyebrows, low voice.
ESFJ: Si subtype woman have V shaped eyebrows
    INTJ: distinct shy smile

ESTP: Ti subtype males look tough. Some females have a distinctive large forehead.
INFP: w shaped mouth, wide open eyes
ENFJ: soft w shaped mouth, young looking face
    ISTJ: not a moustache :-)

ESFP: sad eyes, flat face, lowered mouth corners (sometimes one sided), often hooknose.
INTP: concentrated detached look, hanging shoulders
ENTJ: woman have lower half monkey face
ISFJ: Se types have large head, Fi types nose attached to forehead.

ENFP: Fi subtype sometimes M shaped mouth
    ISTP: cheekbones! sometimes wide jaws
ESTJ: Te type has rectangular face
INFJ: lower lip forward, women sometimes distinct thick eyebrows

If anyone wants to add, check or confirm, please do.

I think I can say with confidence that I have never met an Fi-ISFj.

how do I explain this...there is not a valley shape at the beginning. it's straight from the forehead down in a straight line. It's really easy to spot. I've seen it in 2 out of 3 ESI-Fi's.
And I've seen it in no other type. So it's really typical, and useful for confirmation.

yes, I could recognize the ENFJ and ESTJ when I saw the answers. Ganin did a good job on those two. Yet others weren't that clear to me.

Sorry, but if there's one person that sucks at VI the most it would have to be Ganin.

    Worthless and unhelpful.

It would be interesting, for the sake of transparency, if it explained how those people were typed (by VI or otherwise).

    1. I said ISTp (Ganin: ISFp)
    2. I said ENFj (Ganin: ISTp)
    3. I gave up

But then socionics.com would become redundant.
