Which types are prone to own books (if it is type related)?

IMO, you cannot find books in ESTj, INFj, ESFj and ISTp's houses

My mother is INFj and she collects and hoards books. She has so many that there is no way she will be able to read them all in this lifetime, but she still refuses to get rid of a single one. My dad (ESTj) is always trying to talk her into getting rid of them, lol.

I collect the classics and a few favorites (pretty much all fiction), the rest I get at the library.

I like self-improvement books, or "how to do something" books. I like fiction but rarely read it because I feel like I should be doing/learning something useful that could benefit me in the long term.

I've known three IEI males who owned a lot of of technical and coding books, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (they all had that one). I've never read it. I think I also remember The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, and Catcher in the Rye.

I'm of course impressed w/ any guy who has many leather-bound books.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw you crossed it all out. I don't know why I enjoyed it so much.

The most avid reader and book collector I know is an ESTj.

I know an ESTj who is really into reading self improvement books for the workplace. I used to wonder if he was just having a laugh or acting but he really is quite corporate focused. Some of the books i've spoke to him about are quite interesting. Some book about mice and cheese I remember reading which was a business related metaphor/analogy. Some other book about blame culture and personal responsibility ya de ya.

I used to quite like sci-fi, fantasy and horror. Piers Anthony was a favourite author.

Recently i've been reading books on old cultures, old and current languages, linguistics type things and robotics. When I get round to reading that is.

Lol, you just said it seems it's not type related, but know what you mean (I think).

To continue with bolded part fwiw, I put down what I read in previous post. I've not a massive book collection, but I used to read a lot. I know an ISTp who read and still inclined to read mega-loads fwiw, who also was quite into sci-fi, reads more factual type things now far as I know, has a fair few books. I think we both go through phases. Also know one who doesn't read at all, but prefers films and documentaries as a communication genre and has large collection of these.

An ENFP guy I know is crazy about fantasy books, like lord of the rings etc.

I know an INFJ guy who owns a lot of books, but I think he didn't buy them himself, he got those from a relative or something.

I own no 'story' books, just a whole lot informative books.

I don't find much time to read much these days (college burnt me out, I think). I have some perennial favorites I like to read at least once a year even though I've got a loaded bookcase by my bed (I've read 80% of them). My brother was and still manages to keep up with some reading. He's big into stuff like the Sword of Truth series (I've only read the first one and it was pretty cool, I've failed at continuing though). He's INTj and massively into fantasy and sci fi. Most of my interests were the same, though I think I appreciated comedic fantasy (terry pratchett, neil gaiman) and sci fi (Douglas Adams, Grant Naylor) a lot more than he did.

My SEE sis can read anything that she finds useful, but nothing for enjoyment. My ESI sis (I've been reconsidering her type slightly to INFj) reads a decent deal and especially loved a couple of series about a band of mercenaries in a fantasy world (forget what it was called) as well as the Honor Harrington novels (sci fi with a female naval general). The latter I think is interesting because I think the titular character is probably alpha NT from the books I've read and remember.

Also, my ESE mom reads a lot in her free time, mostly thrillers and romance novels.

My dad, SLI reads next to nothing, but he keeps a family bible close at hand and has a ton of manuals about bike/car info/maintenance. He recently went to the library (which surprised me a lot) and checked out a book on the Katy Trails near here, as well as Bill O'Reilly's Culture Warrior thing.
