    Default Alpha Parents: ENTp/ISFp couple

I have a pair of friends who are a married ENTp/ISFp couple. They recently had a baby and they thought it would be funny to make her a facebook page. I was creeping her adorable pictures today when I noticed this hilarious interaction:

I'm all for kids after 30, but I want to LIVE first. Having kids puts all the focus on the kids, and away from what you and your significant other want.

I'm not sure about 30 for myself, but I agree that I want to save it for a while so I have time for myself and my partner when the time comes.

When you're out of high school life is very different. There's freedom to go anywhere with your life and thus you have to start planning. Nothing is certain anymore. There's no longer that "I'm done school for two months, then I'm going to start school in the fall" mentality.

I think the planning is more the NE+Ti combo...Ne itself doesn't account for future planning.

And I'm not a rational, I don't have that much planned, just a few general things. The kids after 30 thing is a combination of my observation of all the marriages that go down the toilet after the first child, and studies showing that children born to parents who are over 30 are more intelligent, financially better off, etc.

Oh how I miss the ease of planning with school. After school it's Ne overload with all the things you can do. Paralyzed by choice..

Why don't you just go on stickam and we can have a big typing party so you can quit rotating through every alpha typing?

Not even. It's not even about skills anymore. It's like, how am I going to feel good about what I've done in ten years? How am I going to live my life so I feel happy tomorrow morning. How am I going to make enough money to make ends meet? How am I going to find time to do all the things I need to do? Where am I going to meet new friends, I'm lonely. I need a new hobby, but I don't know what and I don't have time.

And on and on and on....

Q: how am I going to feel good about what I've done in ten years?

A: Who cares? Seriously. The future happens. And anyway, you're an ILE. You probably won't live for ten years. Or if you do, it won't be in the same country.

Q: How am I going to live my life so I feel happy tomorrow morning.

A: Related to the above: move to the tropics. Canada is Canada. Duh.

Q: How am I going to make enough money to make ends meet?

A: Chances are, everything you find interesting is also not something that will submerge you into poverty. Unless the world somehow suddenly stops needing comedians and scientist.

Q: How am I going to find time to do all the things I need to do?

A: Kill time and loot its corpse.

Q: Where am I going to meet new friends, I'm lonely.

    A:

    Q: I need a new hobby, but I don't know what and I don't have time.

    A: BitTorrent.

    bittorrent is not a hobby.

Hobbies should be offline, preferably outdoors with other people.

Veg out to music. Or use it to make wikicrawls less dull and toxically Delta.

Spend hours of your day watching TV and movies.

    See? It's easy.

I do that at work all day. When I'm done with work I want some human contact!

I took up golf though, that's a start. Just need a few more hobbies and I'll be completely distracted from not getting what I want in life

kids after 30, yeah but don't wait too long. You want to be young enough to a) have the energy to keep up with them b) enjoy the same activities such as skiing, sports, other physical things and c) NOT spoil them silly with all the money you've been making over the past 20 years. I've seen plenty of older parents around here where we live, starting their families in their early 40s or even for some of the men, in their early 50s!!, making all the above errors because they wanted to be perfectly settled and have a life before having kids. Which is all well and good, just remember not to wait too long. Personally, I'm looking forward to the time after the kids have flown the coop. (Of course nothing's guaranteed. I could die before then, y'never know.)

Yeah after 30 fire up the baby machine full time for sure. As long as you're eating right and taking care of yourself you should have plenty of energy at 30, and spoiling kids is a choice. Women have their biological clocks and all so I'm not going to wait forever, but kids in your 20s just seems stupid to me (I know my duals have an opposite viewpoint on this, but they need to do some babysitting and see how much work babies are!).

I really don't see kids before thirty as stupid as all. There are plenty of people who have lived a lot before thirty and are ready to settle down. I'm only 20 and I feel like I've lived a fair share. Still have some more to go, but there seems absolutely nothing wrong with the prospect of settling down to a family ~25+

there's nothing inherently wrong with an early or a late family, it all boils down to preference and opportunity. I was just throwing out some reasons why someone might not want to wait too long. I had my twins at 29 and my little guy at 30. Talk about condensing the process! The three of them are 22 months apart. We didn't plan it that way, but sometimes it happens a certain way regardless of planning.
