Why can't Si predict also? This seems unfairly limiting.

Si can predict, but not as well, because it's only comfortable with directly observable things. It can certainly extrapolate from gathered experiences... but Ni abstracts things and follows that, so it can move further into the future (basically, deductive versus inductive).

seems to me like Ni's do not do too much far future looking.

Also I remember reading that Ni is more likely to predict the near future...

Alpha NT's especially seem most concerned with the far future. Beta NF's and Gamma NT's seem pretty "meh" about the far future.

idk, these interpretations of Si are far to localized to me.

I think there is something to this...

I have an idea as to why, which i will think about

Perhaps it's because relates more to the Inner Self than ? So types can picture themselves dressed as knights on horseback and so on, while types are more interested in sci-fi?

    idk.

I think it depends and also sci-fi is so broad that knights on horseback could be a part of science fiction.

    I think that:
    1. Delta Si differs from Alpha Si
    2. sp/sx/so may play into socionics and affect focus of Si (You seem to have a local sp version of Si whereas mine is more "epic" in scale/focus perhaps related to so)

on a more global level would be rather like the Gaia hypothesis.

mmm yes, exactly what im getting at

Terraforming also (which is future looking )

    and of course... worldbuilding.

its the dynamics field of physical processes.

That can apply to your body or to the entire universe.

Saying that its only about "pleasant sensations" is quite obnoxious to me.

But people don't tend to deal with the Gaia hypothesis on a daily basis. is more generally better linked with homeostasis. And people don't generally desire to indulge in unpleasant sensations, especially types. Okay, perhaps this is more relevant to Alpha SF types than Delta ST types.

yes. I said this in a video.

Humans have evolved to stay alive.

So ALL the elements are oriented towards staying alive. "Homeostatis" is important and a primary concern, so yes Si frequently eyes that shit.

But the fact that I do enjoy pondering on such grander scale things should in no way mean Im not using Si nor should we limit the scope of what field Si can apply to.

I don't have a problem with the notion that we utilise all eight functions. Homeostatis is a primary concern in a biological sense, but we all have a preference for one particular ordering of the information elements - that was just an analogy for how operates.

    oh no no no

I didnt mean that we utilize all

I meant that they all orient themselves to help us stay alive, so Si dealing with pleasant sensations or health is only one manifestation of Si.

may not simply be about pleasant sensations or health, but I think it's also important to realise that a dominant also utilises and all the other functions.

From my current understanding of Model T, I'd expect to be the hardest.

Yes, I think so. I think it's more related to Fe in general. It's about the internal subjective experience; not simply the sensory interaction or the contextual similarity.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...
