Socionics is often called a theory of relationships.

However many times I've seen responses to that like, there is more to a relationship then just socionics. And that's true.

Why isn't the word 'relationship' replaced with 'interaction'? Then you're pointing at a particular aspect of a relationship. Which corresponds more to what Socionics is describing and avoids unnecessary discussions.

I think it depends on your intepretation of the word relationships, which inconveniently has multiple definitions and connotations for people. When people say that "socionics is a theory of relationships," I think they intend the word relationship to deal with the way people relate and interact, rather than a bond they may or may not share.

I think they have a different word for that in dutch. Which might have been the reason I'm having trouble with 'relationship'

I'd say socionics explains both relationships AND the interactions that relationships are built from.

I'd say "interaction" vs. "relationsip" would be the difference between knowing one sentence in a foreign language, vs. being fluent in it. So the interaction/knowing one sentence isn't really the point -- knowing the whole relationship/language is. But the interaction/knowing one sentence is still important and a building block for understanding the whole thing.

But I wonder if an Fe person would be more focused on the "interaction" and the nature of that, and an Fi person would be more focused on the overall "relationship"..so an Fe person might actually view it as a series of interactions, vs. a stand alone "relationship."

I dunno...random thoughts here.
