Default Not identifying with Identicals in typing

I started to wonder about this. Since I've seen some people question their selftyping because they don't like to associate with the 'stereotypes' etc that rest on their type.

Maybe it's not a good idea for selftyping to examine identicals?

Well, I think the description about identical relations in the site socionics.com tells us that relationships (at work, romantical, friendships, etc) between identicals can be very difficult if both members of the couple have the same age: if one of the members has success the other might be jealous. What is more, they are prone to compete against each other instead of work in the same direction and share knowledge. Identicals have the same weak functions and this avoids them from helping each other, mainly because they can't do it!....all this sounds really bad and I can confirm it is true. Only if one of the persons is much older than the other and a teacher-student situation arises the relation can go forward.
My personal experience: I feel like this with fellow ENTps: I usually feel highly indiferent to young subtypes and have arguments and compete with young subtypes. On the other hand, I make good friends with older ENTps.

I live with my identical, we do not work together but work in separate areas of the same building doing practically the same jobs, we're only a year apart in age (28 and 29), we get along pretty well and have never really had any sort of disagreement about anything. The main differences between the two of us... is she had a much rougher childhood and also has an 8 year old boy... where my childhood wasn't really screwed up, for the most part, and I'm still childless...

BUT, before I disagree entirely with the above statement, I'll just say that we are not the best of friends and don't really hang out much unless we're just sitting around the house... even then, we are both probably doing our own thing anyway. This very well may be a reason why you'll never find us at eachothers throats or just having any animosity towards one another whatsoever.

I usually don't like associating myself with people "of my type" in most ways. Gets boring. The only thing I discriminate against is if you're stupid and proud of it.

I know an SEI girl who is the same age as me. We've always gotten along pretty well, and tbh we are pretty similar except she rocks at drawing and I talk more just to hear my own voice. And she loves hugs. And I know how to get into her mind because I know what she is thinking *maniacal laugh*

I've had a lot of ENFp friends over the years. It's fun. I haven't noticed the problems that have been talked about so far. Instead, it lets you be yourself totally and is nice to be understood completely.

I think you can usually find ways to teach each other about your experiences and learn from one another, even if you are the same type -- it's rare someone has had the exact same life experiences you have.
    Hi! I'm an ENFP. :-)

If we are only what Socionics makes us to be, Alpha NTs would have significantly better relationship skills. But sadly, no. They are home alone, petting their computers.

I don't understand your logic. What does socionics gift Alpha NTs with that makes them so skilled at relationships? I can think of nothing to support that conclusion.

Yup, but that can be a good thing. Makes me a little easier to understand. Being female makes me complicated, and having the mindset of someone in the 40s makes me complicated.

I'm very predictable. I'm pretty much the same as I was in elementary school, both mentally and physically (besides the growth).

Yup. Notice I've never changed my avatar? Change your avatar, you're a different person. I have to figure you out all over again. I'm doing everyone a favor by being boring. If a whole movie was filled with stars, it would be way too confusing. I'm a necessary extra.

Well, I don't know that it's bad to be complicated on some level (but okay, I'm a 4 so of course I'm going to say that). But there is also something to be said for predictability and dependability.

I've noticed that I do not.

I find other ENTps cool and on the same wavelength. Yet it's because we basically do, say and think in the same ways that I tend to feel...competitive for attention from groups, which we both want pretty badly. One on one it's interesting at first but bland after a while. I tend to appreciate them but not heavily pursue a relationship.

Examining identicals is a good way to get a glimpse of what the next generation of personality theories will look like. Normally I find enough differences between myself and other INTjs to come up with entirely new sub-classification systems.

I only know of one other person who is SLI in real life... we dated briefly but it got boring [as predicted]. We were just so much alike, which was cool in some ways but kind of a drag in others. I think it might be cool to know other SLI's, though....

    Yeah, at least 1.

Yeah, it got really boring for me also...I think as a friend, another SLI wouldn't be bad but it didn't work romantically. It felt really cold to me.

By "associate" do you mean hang out with or identify with? I'm guessing you mean more the latter, in which case I think I might agree with you. Although, I do like comparing myself with others of my type because I happen to enjoy noticing individual differences. I think, in any case, that whether one relates to one's supposed identicals or not should only be a part of the evaluative process.

I think there was one other IEE I knew growing up, but our friend circles were different so I didn't hang around him at all. Hm. I'm kind of used to being the only IEE around. I'm not sure where the rest are hiding.
