yeah. i like REALLY firm hugs.
when i was 4 and my mom used to drop me off at school, i would be like "don't leave me!" and squeeze her so hard she'd be in pain.

i am flakey
ummm... it depends who I'm hugging
umm... there are three types, relatives/close friends, my kid, and my husband
Gender: Female
Type: LIE
1.) With my husband
Pressure: Firm
Speed: sudden and slow
Location: waiste
Length: long
Sound: what? this question offends me
Motion: what? who gives a "mobile" hug?
Ease: Huggable
2.)With my son
Pressure: Firm
Speed: Slow
Location: my chest (he's sort)
Length: Long
Motion: Still
Ease: Huggable
3.) With close friends and relatives I like
Pressure: medium
Speed: slow
Location: neck? limited body contact, the firmness is in the arms around their shoulders
Length: short to short/medium
Motion: Still
Ease: Huggable to Huggable/Hesitant
4.) With acquaintances who I'm not comfortable hugging or relatives I don't like
Pressure: Gentle to medium
Speed: irrelevant
Location: neck
Length: short
Motion: ?
Ease: Hesitant to Reluctant
Gender: Male
Type: Ne-ENTp 7w6 so/sx
Pressure: Firm
Speed: Slow
Location: Waist when hugging women, chest when hugging other men
Length: Short
Sound: Varies
Motion: Shifting
Ease: Reluctant, except with significant other, in which case, highly huggable.
I used to be severely afraid of touching other people, so hugging is something that I have only recently re-discovered. I still don't like to hug that much because touching other people feels a little too intimate to me. :/

nobody else I know irl knows anything about socionics so this forum is the only place where you can talk about it and people will understand. plus... it's easy cause you're on the computer anyway. and then you get to kind of "know" people and I find that I'm curious about them and actually start to care about them. people like you

Gender: Female
Type: LII
Pressure: Firm
Speed: Slow/Sudden
Location: Chest
Length: Long/Short <-- depends
Sound: Silent
Motion: Still <-- not sure
Ease: Huggable/Hesitant/Reluctant <-- depends
depends on the person. really. I just know I'm female and LII.
Gender: Male
Type: Ne-INFj
Pressure: Firm
Speed: Slow
Location: Chest
Length: about 2 seconds, not sure where that falls on the continuum
Sound: depends, it's usually as I'm coming or going so I guess there's some verbiage
Motion: still? No clue what shifting implies. Is mobile where the two of you run in slow motion and leap into each other's arms?
Ease: Huggable I suppose. I don't initiate at all really, but I'm happy to play along. Unless I don't know you, then please don't be touching on me.
I think the only constants here for me are sudden, firm and hesitant. Everything else is dependent on the environment, the other person, and the amount of time I've known them... I think I mostly adapt to the other person's lead, but at the same time the more I try to visualize and remember this sort of thing the more I become unsure. Probably because this seems kind of biased... whereas when I think of, or remember, hugging someone it is actually with in mind.

Ease: Reluctant
The end is nigh
it's actually really weird to talk about hugging.
Why's that?
On a side note: A few years ago, my LII brother and I were walking home from church with our EII friend. My brother and I were discussing x and y chromosones and the results of their mutation. Our friend said the conversation was weird and wanted to change the subject.
Gender: Male
Type:LIE
Pressure: Gentle
Speed: Sudden
Location:Chest
Length: Short
Sound: Silent
Motion: Still
Ease: Hesitant/Huggable
I would guess its more of a Fe/Fi thing?
Hope it helps.

I agree.
I could not boil down my style or preferences to categories; hugs are pretty much something someone else does to me and I usually respond in kind unless I feel significantly less warmly toward the other person than their hug seems to convey. Except for my SO, and I vary the way I tackle him. Keeps him guessing.

yeah I don't think hugging is a very easy thing to scientifically study. If one were very serious about it, you'd need video and tons of information regarding each individual relationship. Something way more difficult than the resulting information would warrant. I mean, who cares? You hug someone the way you feel like hugging them. And the way I hug someone one time might be different than the way I hug them the next time depending on my mood, my day, the way I feel about the person, the WEATHER, etc. There are too many variables.

Gender: Male
Type: EIE
Pressure: Firm
Speed: Sudden
Location: Well I'm tall so I tend to hug people's shoulders and they hug my chest.
Length: Long
Sound: Depends on the situation
Motion: Depends on the situation
Ease: Huggable
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...
I mean, yeah
Gender: Male
Type: some sort of Fe and pretty strong Si
Pressure: Gently Firm
Speed: Slow/Sudden
Location: tities. I loved when this girl who studied IT, she hugged so strong but so gently, i mean so elegantly
Length: long
Sound: moaning
Motion: i hate shifting and rude hugs. Mobile i think
Ease: fuck nose, Im so E right now I will say fuckable... really hugging is only for one reason - you want the girl, and cant hesitate
Hugging your mom must be sort of awkward then.
hey my mom seems to be ISFp, but she doesn't like hugging. so now you can see there that is coming from. my parents did a terrible mistake. now Im dry and cut animal, women - watch out!!!!!!!
Edit: I seem to be tired for jokes, eh...
Gender: Male
Type: isfp
Pressure: Gentle
Speed: Sudden
Location: Chest
Length: I hug as long as the other person hugs
Sound: Silent
Motion: Still
Ease: Reluctant
Gender: Male
Type: INTJ
Pressure: Gentle
Speed: Slow
Location: Neck
Length: Short
Sound: Silent
Motion: Still
Ease: Huggable
I simply do not hug too many people. If alone with someone I feel connected to and if the hug is not asked for or somehow obligatory, and if i'm in the mood...
Gender: Female
Type: INTp
Pressure: like getting hugged by a rock
Speed: sudden, cannot plan for these things. that means that i am allowed to hug suddenly, but would prefer not to be suddenly hugged
Location: Waist/Chest.
Length: depends on pressure and speed
Sound: breathing and stomachs growling (see above chest and waist)
Motion: still/shifting/mobile (natural changes in pressure, and chest/abdomen moves with the breath; re: mobility, these hugs may turn into being picked up for a back crack, being thrown onto the bed, rocked, etc.)
Ease: a firm squeeze spread out over the chest is hard to resist. anything too gentle, expected, or including too much eye contact - no thanks. also hello/goodbye hugs, even with someone i am close enough to hug, are always awkward.
whenever the dog and i see each other we both stop where we are. we regard each other with a mixture of sadness and suspicion and then we feign indifference.
