Then apparently we are in agreement
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

Yes, apparently so. I did not see that coming.
"How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all races, the myths about dragons that at the last moment are transformed into princesses? Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us act, just once, with beauty and courage. Perhaps everything that frightens us is, in its deepest essence, something helpless that wants our love."

My post wasn't completely factual, and I was probably overdramatizing and exaggerating some things,

But my main point was that it doesn't really help deter crime. Institutionalizing criminals and hazards to the community is a bad way to go about things. It's much more productive to simply kill violent offenders. I've always been pro death penalty. (Though I'm very much pro gun control srsly, get over your red neckiness)

Any other type of crime, can be dealt with other means than locking the person up, can't it? In those circumstances, eye for an eye would be much better.

Or if we are big on punishing people, why let them read? Many, many people who are in prison are very intelligent and understand the darker impulses of human nature and what people want but are too afraid to admit.

Yeah, I like this. I really have no sympathy for violent criminals, and while I've tried to be balanced in this thread, I have absolutely no compunctions over killing murderers, rapists, etc. As for the other kinds of criminals, some punishment that brands the message into them could work. Torture them, show them death without killing them. Those motherfuckers will be walking on eggshells after that.

Yeah, probably. If people stopped hiding behind arbitrary moral codes and personal righteousness, they might see the validity of this.

Right, this is what I was referring to earlier when I mentioned the people who manipulate the system. Most prison guards are retards, and even the officials in the staff aren't the brightest; but I'd say a good third of criminals are quite bright. So, if they're feeding their minds with more knowledge about power and war...not exactly beneficial.

I believe that people often forgets that all opinions about any subject are strictly personal and that there is no absolute "right" or "wrong". There is no "supreme" order to judge anything beyond humans, so everything is artificial and thus equally valid.

You know what? You're an individual, and that makes people nervous. And it's gonna keep making people nervous for the rest of your life.

It's true. You seem to make lots of noise and get worked over nothing really substantial. No offense intended. Just felt like saying.

I have some nice anecdotes of prisons in holland, which are the most luxurieus of the whole world.

    - Since 2006 pedofelias and rapists aren't allowed to watch porn anymore or chat with minor girls on their computer in their cells. (before that time, it was no problem)

    - Since 2005 you don't get 1100 dollar per month (benefits) when you are in jail. (with no costs of housing/food) you used to get rich in jail (!)

    - During sinterklaas (sort of santaclaus) every inmate gets a free chocolate bar of their choice (milk / pure / white). And the hard working guards get what is left over...

    - People in prison have television / pc's / playstation and nice curtains on the window. And for muslims there is a sign on the wall that shows the direction to mekka.

    - There was a riot once, when the prison wanted to shorten the 2 hour fitness time per day.

    - If you are TBS (meaning extremely dangerous and psychological disorder) you will have time off in the weekend, accompanied with (often) a female guard and no chains. Needless to say, there have been many inmates escaped...who killed people during their escape. This happend about 5 times in the last two years, and no measures have been taken.

    - For violence, robbery etc, you will get a couple of months prison, or you can choose to work 240 hours for free.

    - If you catch a burglar in your own house, and you hit him with your fist. YOU will go to prison and you have to pay the burglar money. How is this in the USA??

Did anyone else hear that Arpaio is getting his own reality show? Apparently it's going to be some criminal 'candid camera' type of thing, where wanted suspects will be duped into doing things that lead to their arrest (i.e. telling someone that they will be a supermodel and are wanted to pose in a show). I won't bother to watch this more than once, just out of morbid curiosity, but the whole premise of it seems fucked up anyway. If you want to arrest someone, just do it. But now the 'hardass' is getting glorified and people are deriving entertainment from playing pranks on criminals...lol. bleh.

he does that sort of thing. about five years ago he had some undercover put a hard sell on a just released inmate to get him to put a hit out Arpaio. Once they got the guy to agree they threw him back in jail.
