speaking strictly for myself: I think I smoke weed because it gets me in an Si (and to lesser extent, an Ni) state of being.

only very slightly type related. Since it is known that certain personality disorders are also prone to certain drugs.

if I had to make a list... (don't take this list to seriously!)

    ESTP: cigarretes, beer, coke
    INTP: beer, mushrooms
    INFP: weed, cigarettes
    ENTP: beer
    SEE: beer, heroine
    ISTP: beer

Rest of the types are more likely to live healthy.

I'm very curious about this. Can you tell me where to find such info?

I don't know exactly where on the internet. but they stated the probabilities and or statistics of drug abuse, of people who got hospitalized. Some statistics were of people with an personality disorder.

Personally my favorite drug was acid. I liked weed a lot, but I felt and experienced some really amazing, incomparable things while on acid that weed can't even scrape the surface of.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

    Indeeeeeeeeeeed.

I don't care what people say; mushrooms may have the potential for a lighter, less psychoanalytic trip, but if you can handle serious introspection, then the risks of mushrooms (possible poisoning, worse high-dose trips, more convincing negative hallucinations, more potential for negative body trip, greater feeling of inebriation, worse impairment of mental faculties) are far worse than acid, IMO. One of my biggest fears is losing control mentally; acid only ever gave me more. It also relieved my anxiety very effectively in low doses.

The are going to ban mushrooms in holland next friday.

It was on the news today.

But around the same time they are starting an experiment to legally grow weed (the state will grow weed!)

Which is great, because weed is already legal here, just not the growth of it. If they legalize it, the police force can be cut in half.

Mushrooms almost fucking killed me. Acid played some part, but for some INEXPLICABLE reason I can't blame it quite as much

Back before I couldn't take stimulants anymore, I basically had a mindset where "I will do any drug which I can get my hands on as long as it's relatively safe". Kind of makes sense for INTp .. I know an ESFp who sniffed 6 pills of ADD medicine before he ran in a cross country race and has heart damage. So maybe there is a correlation in the way that types tend to use drugs; and from there, the drugs they end up liking?

It'd be interesting if each person could say why they liked or didn't like certain drugs and see if we can come up with a pattern.

Just so you know, painkillers comprise about 75% of what are commonly thought of as "downers." The only other notable categories are barbiturates, which also qualify as hallucinogens (most of them anyways) and benzodiazepines (xanax, klonopin, etc)

Oh, and weed, which is kind of a category of its own (not really any other noteworthy cannabinoids out there).

Well, I guess I don't count as I've never done any illegal drugs but if I could be on tranquilizers for the rest of my life 24/7, I would. I cannot tolerate stimulants of any sort, really. I go crazy. I'm already entirely too focused on myself and my body as it is and stimulants just increase that x300...I can't imagine why anyone would want to be on a stimulant. Mood altering drugs? No...that'd make me too paranoid.

Marijuana is a waste of time. It's a good way to turn off your brain and numb the senses. Acid, on the other hand, is interesting, and I would recommend trying it to anyone. It's not exaggerating to say it changed my life.

The problem with acid is it can actually permanently warp your mind and render you schizotypal, & even schizophrenic if you have an underlying tendency toward schizophrenia. Also, knowing me I'd have a bad trip on it

    What?
I seriously doubt LSD will permanently warp you - the molecule gets cleaned out of your brain in a timely fashion, and there has never, ever ever been a recorded case of death by overdose. They even gave a batch of mice 2000 times the effective dose, and the only physical effect was that some of them had irregular heartbeats that went back to normal later.
TWO THOUSAND TIMES the effective dose, and they all went back to normal later.
You might as well say going to church can permanently warp your mind. Or eating too much pasta.

I have heard many times that psychedelic drugs can induce a psychosis.

BTW mushrooms are better than LSD. They last shorter, and lesser chance on a bad trip.
Bad trips can be steered somewhat. If you trip on a dark rainy day, your trip will not be nice. Better pick a sunny day. If you trip when having problems (relationship break up) etc. then you also have a bigger chance on a bad trip.

Mushrooms=everything you see/sense looks/feels bright and unusual.... Acid=everything you see/sense reflects back on you and causes you to examine yourself.

    I prefer acid.

LSD can only fuck you up if you mix it with other things or have latent mental conditions. Otherwise it is totally safe, in terms of long-term effects.

Working in PR and journalism--the companies I've worked for have not cared... The ppl involved are usually pretty open-minded--or aren't saints themselves lol...

But yeah, I know what you mean... When I graduated in 06 I worked in banking for awhile, and they drug tested.

Well nobody tests for LSD; it has to be tested for specially, and given its increasing scarcity, nobody bothers. The standard NIDA/SAMHSA-5 panel, which is used by almost all eployers (including most government positions) tests for cocaine, marijuana, amphetamines, basic opiates (reliably heroin, morphine, opium, although sometimes a positive is triggered by prescription painkillers), and PCP.
